I would like to, but I don't have a way of getting a pass. On AR15.com, they do a thread each year with pictures, etc.

Whats worse is my permit will be comming in the next 2 weeks. :(
There is a place down here in FL that cuts the 120 day wait period down to 14 days. Only issue is its about 2 hours away. But 4 hour drive is a hell of a lot better than 4 month wait. WOOT

That is the gun that all other guns hope to live up to. I have one with 3500 rounds through it and it hasn't been cleaned once. It's a Glock it doesn't need to be cleaned. I have never had a FTF, or a jam. It is a perfect machine in every way. It may not be the sexiest pistol but no other gun has my trust like that one does. It is the one that protects me and my family. :banger

Here we go!
I have more but here is a start
Here is my 30/40 Krag. Made in 1902. Got this from my dad for my 16th birthday. It will still take the head off a Zombie at 100 yards with iron sights.

This was the first handgun I bought. I have a 30 round clip for it too. Just in case the zombies invade. Very accurate and fun to shoot.
This was before I put the walnut grips on it. I have to take some new pics.

Yes. It is great to have the connection to him. I have my own 1911 for shooting. I keeps Grandpa's in the safe.
My Dad also has his 1911. He built it from parts from the frame up. He wanted to build it to understand every single part and how it works. took him about 6 months in his spare time. He has already told me I will get that one too someday. One from each generation to pass to my kids (whenever I get around to making some Kids).
Is that PA63 C&R license eligible?
PA63 is not C&R eligible unfortunately.

I love my 19 too but I cant conceal it very well. Need to do some more holster research.
P.S. Going to grab a Ruger LCP late October. A pocket gun would be great for when I'm out walking in stretchy waist band shorts.
I plan on a very high rate of carry. So far at around 98% No campus carry yet. :(
These are the only two I have photos of on my HD so I'll bust them out.

The only thing that sucks about FL is there is no open carry... This makes holster selection pretty suck. If you are giong to go IWB and are willing to drop some loot then take a look at Milt Sparks. Just know they have about a 6 month waiting list. If you want something a little more affordable Ross and Galco make some nice leather.
I would avoid kydex holsters in the FL heat. They get wet and uncomfortable. The leather will soak up the sweat so you don't have a wet holster rubbing on you all day.
You can get away with wearing an OWB if you were it in the small of your back or around your 4 o'clock. Ross makes some very nice OWB holsters and that's what I use when I actually use a holster.
With any holster you have to have a good belt... I REPEAT GET A GOOD STURDY BELT MADE FOR CARRYING! It will evenly distribute the weight of the gun around your waist and make carrying much more comfortable.
Your other option, and I'm waiting to catch some flak for this from the everyone, is to carry mexican. I didn't coin the phrase but google it and you will see that it is a legit term. Basically carrying without a holster. I do this about 75% of the time. Never had an issue. You need to be a little more aware of what your doing, but it's very concealable and in the hot weather it's not as bad as all the gear. YMMV
Hope this helps you a little. :tu

Comptac MTAC Holster is amazing. I can conceal my 19 in a plain white tshirt. I also bought a Wilderness Instructor Belt and that makes all the difference. As some other posters have said--a good belt is essential.
For leather check out The Beltman. For a nylon tactical style try the Wilderness brand belts.

OK, I don't know what your laws are in FL, but here in OH, you have to CCW with a holster.
Secondly, have you heard the story of Plaxico Burress? What happens if you fall down? The bad guy could get your handgun if he hits you and if it falls out of the waistband.
I am not trying to come down on you, just trying to give a little advice.

Im currently using a cheap uncle mikes IWB holster. It works well for the price with my G27. I ave also looked into the Ross holsters but I really dont want to have to buy bigger pants lol. Carrying w/oa holster just wont fly for me. I am a 21 year old male with long curly hair and a beard. If anyone so happens to catch a peek Im positive the police will be called. I have seen the Milt Sparks but IMO it just isnt i the budget I would rather pool my money and put it towards another gun. What i have now is very comfortable the only thing is the glock is on the heavy side. But im sure ill get used to it. :tu

I appreciate the advice... I've been carrying this way for the last 6 years. I haven't fallen down while casually walking since I was out of grade school. I do run the risk of losing the gun in a fight but you run that risk with any holster. I've carried in level 2 rententions as well as open top holsters when I open carried in VA and you have just as much risk of a "bad guy" trying to disarm you in a fight. I avoid fights at all costs and I make sure my situational awareness is being used regularly.
It is risker than carrying in a holster but having weighed the risks to the comfort of carrying everyday all day it is an acceptable risk for me. It may not be to someone else and I can understand that. I usually tell people to do what they feel comfortable with because the more comfortable you are the more apt you are to carry. If you buy a crappy holster that you hate and it's uncomfortable for you to carry eventually you will start carrying less and less until you no longer do so.

No offense and with all due respect to your service, there are quite a few guns that have taken soldiers lives... Does this mean that we shouldn't own any of them? How about guns that a terrorist used, should we not be allowed to own those either?
How about the M16 or AR15 variant? That has killed American soldiers via friendly fire should we limit those?
Part of being American, and the very thing that you fought for, is having the freedom to own this things. :tu

I've fired one on a couple of occasions... They are well made guns and will go bang every time you pull the trigger. That's about all that I can say about it.
IMHO I think the trigger leaves something to be desired. I guess I just expect more for a $650+ firearm.
They are good guns and I don't think you'll have any problems with it. It just may take some getting used to but that's the same with any firearm.

Ask how many "upgrades" they have done to their beautiful pistol. Then ask "what ammo makes it malfunction" then ask them how fast they can clear a stovepipe or failure"
Then you can mostly say..... Huh... never had to do any of those to my Tupperware pistol.
That being said, I like 1911s. They are kind of retro-cool but the world has marched on in design and innovative styles and materials.
I still want one. But something to carry? I would take the G. Higher percentages of going bang, lighter... I don't care about ugly when I need to be a Sheepdog for real.

Sorry if someone already posted a link or something to this. Got this from a friend concerning new California Law, purchasing guns or ammo at Cabelas.
To: Cabela's California Customers
From: Cabela's Communications
Subject: California Assembly Bill 962
Date: Sept. 22, 2009
We are writing to inform you of pending legislation that will restrict purchases of handgun ammunition in California and will terminate our ability to service your needs for certain products.
On Friday, Sept. 11, the California Assembly passed Assembly Bill 962, by a 44-31 vote.
Among other regulations, AB 962 would:
Ban all mail-order and Internet sales of handgun ammunition.
Prohibit the retail sale, the offer for sale or the display of handgun ammunition in a
manner that allows ammunition to be accessible to a purchaser without assistance of a
vendor or employee.
Require that the delivery or transfer of ownership of handgun ammunition occur in a
face-to-face transaction, with the deliverer or transferor being provided bona fide
evidence of identity of the purchaser or other transferee.
That evidence of identity, which must be legibly recorded at the time of delivery, includes:
The right thumbprint of the purchaser or transferee.
The date of the sale or other transaction.
The purchaser's or transferee's driver's license or other identification number and the
state in which it was issued.
The brand, type and amount of ammunition sold or otherwise transferred.
The purchaser's or transferee's signature.
The name of the salesperson who processed the sale or other transaction.
The purchaser's or transferee's full residential address and telephone number.
The purchaser's or transferee's date of birth.
The bill is on the desk of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, where it awaits his consideration. He will have until Oct. 11 to sign or veto the bill. If he does not veto the bill, it will become law.
If you wish to comment on AB 962, you may contact Gov. Schwarzenegger by phone at (916) 445-2841, or via fax at (916) 558-3160. To e-mail Gov. Schwarzenegger, visit
http://gov.ca.gov/interact
We encourage all Cabela's customers who participate in the shooting sports to contact Gov. Schwarzenegger to voice their opposition to this initiative, which will limit your opportunities to shop with Cabela's, and will restrict the sale of handgun ammunition everywhere in California.

Just got a Spyderco Persistence in for a small EDC blade. I needed something smaller than what i was previously carrying because now ther eis a G27 on my strong side and my weak side i have my cell phone in my pocket and a large knive (like the SOG Aegis or Benchmade Griptilian) was just slightly too large. Maybe it was because im not used to it on that side or what but i wanted smaller.
In comes the persistence. The size is PERFECT for everyday opening bombs, preparing food, etc. But the deployment speed BLOWS! I have returned it for a full refund and bought another one to see if it was just the knife in question. I am looking forward to the next one coming in. This one is from a certified dealer instead of an ebay seller. I am hoping for better results.

LOL I'd be walking so stiffly if I had a DE in my pants, great mental picture there. :D It is a situation requiring renegotiation though. I usually move mine around the side of my belt and keep it about knee level. I've been IWB carrying the Glock fine in the 3:30 to 5:00 general area due to FL wardrobe but don't like how it sticks in my back when I get in the car, and isn't comfortable in a variety of positions so I may be changing up the rig soon. Sometimes I carry in a fanny pack.
If I'm wearing a holster, I've even gone so far as to hang the weapon from the trigger guard on the coat hook on the back of the door.
I've also used the handicap bathroom that has it's own sink and what-not. Plenty of places there to rest it.
If none of those are available, maybe even look for different facilities to use.

FINALLY...I just won me a Ruger Single Six on GB. I've been wanting one for a while and I finally got one. The cool part is that I got a great deal on it and that it was manufactured in my birth year (1981) according to the serial #. What were the odds of that.
Can't wait for it to get here. :banger
Now it's time to find me a Ruger SP101 .357 with a 3 1/16" barrel.
Anyone have one of these?

Looks like a modified mac10. Almost looks uzi-ish, but looks more like a mac10.
What is it?
It started out as a mac-11 and then was converted to use sten mags and has the complete max11 set-up added.

How do you like the 6.8 over a regular 5.56? I want to build a new AR in the future and have been debating on whether to go with a .308 or a 5.56 platform. The 6.8 sits on a 5.56 lower correct?

Pretty big difference between the 5.56 and .308. The .308 will require an AR10 lower. The nice thing about the 5.56 lower is that it's less expensive and there are a lot more upper options. YMMV
I liked the 6.8 enough that I sold all of my 5.56 stuff. ;s
With the way prices went last year I wish I would have held onto everything...but the 6.8 is that fun to shoot.
My .308 is fun too!

You aren't going to wait for the 9mm version?
A 9mm version of the LCP would be so sweet, do you have a source on that rumor? Seems like all they'd have to do is make the magazine a bit longer from trigger to backstrap, and test it for durability. I'd much rather buy a Ruger than a Kahr or Kel-Tec, which I've read mixed reviews on. That would be one I could really get excited about, that power to size & weight ratio would really be near the top of the list. :dr

Yeah, but it's got to compete with the SP101 .357, 2 1/4 inch barrel DAO model in my book, which is heavier but handles the .357 round well. An LCP-9 would be sweet mostly due to its slimness from not having that wheelgun circumference. Dang now I'm thinking about that SP101 again :dr I need to stay off this thread!

I cannot wait until we get to mess around with the M4 for a few days. I hated the H & K P2000 at first because of the trigger, I was actually one of the worst shooters in my class as I was slamming the trigger. The instructors have slowly been working with me and today I shot a 345 out of 360 which is classified as Expert Shooter. We qualify for real next Friday, hopefully I can get 350 or so.

Please don't compare a Kel-tec to any other reliable gun manufacturer... the only cool thing they make is the AR pistol. I would never trust my life to a Kel-tec. With that said just because it was a "plastic" gun doesn't make all plastic guns bad.
I have over 4k rounds through my Glock. Never had any issues whatsoever. I haven't cleaned my Glock since the day I bought it, why should I it's a Glock! :r :r
Seriously I like all metal guns and I even carried a P239 for about a month, but the weight after 14 hours takes a toll on you. I have no doubts the airweights are a dream to carry but I don't shoot revolvers anymore after my accident. It's ignorant but I just don't feel comfortable with them. Not to mention for the same weight your carrying I have 15 rounds compared to your 6. ;) :tu

I went and did it finally. Ordered my dream 9mm gun. Under 13 ozs and built unlike any gun I have ever shot.
I was close to a Seacamp, but ponied up the extra bucks for this....
Should have it by December something.
Not normally a 9mm fan, but after holding one of these and reading raves like this; I figured you only live once and may only get to defend your life once. This thing is no more cumbersome than a cel phone. My jaw did drop when I saw the pricetag, but that's what year end bonuses are for.

I agree and also have nothing against people's choice. In fact, I love Glocks, Sigs and even some of the plastic ones.
Problem is, I am 5'8" and living in cargo shorts, they rarely leave the gun vault which is of no use to me. Me carrying a Glock is like a bull in a china shop.
I doubt I'll stop carrying my Airweight wheel gun, but there are times when a small 9mm that works, unlike a Kel Tec, is invaluable for me.

After a year of drooling...I finally picked up my XD9 this weekend! I have been fondling this thing like I am 13 again and home sick...
I went to the range today to make put some holes in paper and just my luck - they are closed due to power outage!!!!!!! Well the upshot is, it gave me a chance to pick up a couple hundred more rounds to help me break it in tomorrow (hopefully!)
I have spent the past year renting and borrowing trying to find what gun felt best to me and kept coming back to the various XDs. I just love this gun and completely understand why it has become such a hot commodity in the stores.

Another great website... Thanks Slavac I will have to look into that route. I've been leaning towards the tritium battle sites that Troy Industries carries for the irons but they are a bit pricey.

This was my "black friday" pickup. Was thinking about getting the .223 but I ended up with the .308 so I could hunt with it. :D Still deciding on flip-up iron sites or a scope... (it's a Remington R-25) I smoked the mag-50 while playing with my new toy.

Im thinking of buying one of these but in .223. Have you shot yours yet?

Some pics from Sunday.
The lighting was horrible. These are far from my best work.

No worries. I'd be happy to help with any build questions you may have.
You can get both the front and rear BUIS from Magpul by shopping around a bit on ebay for $100ish. My dad's rifle has a set of them right now and he likes them.
He also has an Eotech mounted and wanted to get the optic raised a bit. I put the optic on a Larue mount ($100 as well, pricy but a great company) and this solved his problem. www.laruetactical.com
What sling are you going to put on it?

:tpd: It has to be hard to catch a bullet leaving the muzzle and brass in mid air!
Nice work! :tu

I am a big fan of Magpul products, however not the MBUIS. I went with the Midwest Industries same plane low profile back up iron sight(a little expensive) and love it. I am a big fan of same plane back ups. Next purchase for my personal AR is an ACOG(if I can stop spending money on cigars and save up for it)

Just got back from the range and can say that has been the most fun I have had yet at the academy. I really think I want to pick up an AR-15 now. We fired from 100 yards and I was amazed how accurate and easy to control it was. I had never fired a rifle before and was putting them in the 5 ring. We got to fire 20 rounds from the 25 yard line on full auto which was a blast.

Definitely get an AR. They are fun, but won't be as fun as the one you shot yesterday, b/c it won't be full auto. :gn

I think I may go with the irons that Troy Industries carries. I was looking at a SR-556 that comes with the Troy flip ups and I really like them a lot. I really liked the SR-556 as well so that may be my next purchase.
And BTW Roland, those pictures kick ass! You are quite the photographer!

Full auto is only fun when you don't have to think about what it costs to feed it. ;)
Picked up a nice set of the Troy Industries flip-up battle sites yesterday. Got the best deal ever which made it hard to turn down. Also picked up a tactical sling today while at the cop shop. Looking forward to getting back home to put on my new goodies! :banger

Great gun. Was my first shotgun. Nothing like the sound of a pump action shot gun to scare the intruders away. :tu

we had night fire last night and got a good amount of time with it in the dark, man was that fun as hell. Really smooth gun with good accuracy. The kick with slugs wasnt as bad as I thought it would have been.

Then my second shot gun was the Remington 1100 semi-auto. Now that gun has no kick. The best part is the barrels for both guns are inter-changeable.

Just finished re-building my Ruger 10/22 with a lot of upgrades. Thought I'd post some pics. Very few stock components left on this gun.
