Thats not even right, one still has tags on it! Either you just went out and bought it for the picture or you use it as a paper weight. O' wait it may be gangsta style, dont they always leave the tags on hats and clothes while they use them! :ss

The guys at Gander Moutain in Knoxville offered me $650 for the Python. Guess I will wait until the next gun show to see what she brings.

Got 3 AR lowers coming in tomorrow supposedly from the Fathers Day sale. A threaded barrel should be here Saturday for the XD. yesterday picked up an AR7 survivalist just because the price was right, more of a novelty item I think, feels cheap, but a 22 plinker. Next week I should have the Ti-rant 45 take down tool in.

would I be able to reasonably conceal those in shorts and a t-shirt?
well, I bought the 1911 for shooting at the range, it's way to heavy to carry
The XD is possible, but it's a bit large as well. I was thinking about a Glock 23 (gen 4) to carry, but really, something a little smaller would be better. It's hot here

Hurry up and get to the range! I thought about painting my front sight on my RO as well, however when I took it to the range I didn't have any problems seeing it. Though I'm sure that all depends on what color your targets are.

My G23 is my normal carry gun and it's not very hard to conceal with a t-shirt, darker colors will also help break it up. You could go the next size down and get something like a G27.

I'm going friday with some friends, I'd like to put 150 or so rounds through it, as well as shoot my XD one more time and decide if it's a keeper or I need to sell it.

Tim I may suggest if the XD feels weird to you sell it off. I know a number of people who have picked up XD's, put a couple hundred down range with it, then it becomes a safe queen because of the feel.
If you want something nice and trustworthy to carry I would suggest a S&W-M&P9 compact, or the 40 if you like 40 cal. Hell you can even go .357 compact in the M&P line.

Friend of mine had to be first kid on the block to get a Kimber Solo 9mm. So far it's been a real disappointment. Will not work with 115 grain ammo at all, you must go to 124 or 147 gr. for functioning. My buddy's Solo has additional feeding issues, it's been back to Kimber TWICE already and still, no joy.
Hopefully this particular handgun is an anomoly but somehow it doesn't seem like it. Kinda reminds me of the old Seecamp .32 acp semiauto--they only worked right with Winchester Silvertips, everything else was a gamble.
While I can appreciate the idea of a gun being sorta "specialized"--in the case of the Solo, for self defense--if it's finicky or requires expensive ammo, who's going to fire one of them enough to be competent with the thing?

Try Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna, GA. They have been good for tracking down specific guns for a friend of mine...though I have no first hand experience other than buying shells there.

My Kimber Solo went back to the shop twice for multiple problems. It's been replaced but I've yet to fire it. My view is Kimber pushed the design to the limit. Any limp wrist, weak ammo, etc. and you have problems. Mine had FTE issues even with ammo that's on the Kimber bullet list.

You're competing for real @ 1000 yds. I'm playing with 8" plates @ 1000 yds....LOL. GOOD LUCK with the competition.
What are you shooting? I'm still toying with 175 gr .308 loads and am pretty consistent with 10" steel. 8" is 'hit or miss'. I can't keep the .308 supersonic and it's always moving a bit. Even more so when it gets Florida hot.
I'm interested in building a .338 'something'
When are you heading back this way again?
My range is only about 2.5 hrs south of Brent's place.
Picked up my rifle at lunch today and put what I had on it after work today. Still waiting on the titanium can to be made and I have to drop the rifle off to be threaded next week. Last thing I want to order is a good cheek rest. Here's what it looks like right now. Factory test firing produced a .24 group with 3 shots.

Yep this weekend I'll be running with the top dogs at the Regionals...
I'm gonna shoot my 6.5x47L....the X ring is only 5" at a 1000 and the complete 10 ring is obviously 10"
I get my Short barreled .308 to 1000 pretty easy and accurate Shawn with ...44 Grains varget w/175 SMK's with Lapua Brass...I wouldn't bother with the 168's past 600...but don't discount the 155 Scenars!!

Hal,
Depending on how many pistol shells your gonna reload...if hundreds than I'd definetely get a progressive press for that task. If your only loading fifty or so once in a while then a single stage will do you and you will have it for your rifle reloading as well.
A good single stage press will serve you well such as a RCBS Rock Chucker or similar type press, get yourself a Lee handprimer, scale, trickler, dies, calipers for measuring and some misc, that should get you started.
Depending on how far and where you want to go with your reloading it will or could ultimately end up looking like this!!! and this is just part of mine!!

Cigarcop whats the thing with the two propane tanks on it in the first picture? for melting lead?
HK3, If you have a friend that reloads try his set up out. My friend allows me to reload at his place and has a nice dillon 550( I think) progressive reloader. I love the set up and think I may get one for myself one day, once I convince the gf I wont blow myself up. the dillons are super nice! he has a 3 machine setup, one for 9's 45's and 223. if I did as much reloading as he did I would like the same set up.
Dude, that's an extreme setup!
Good advice. I have a local buddy who reloads so I will see if he will show me his setup and let me watch him run it a few times. As far as brass goes, is it better in your opinion to buy some nice lapua and black hills shells and reload them after shooting or just buy empty brass? I guess what I'm asking is... is their a quality advantage or benefit from using different types of brass?

I don't even have a place near me that I can see 1000 yds. freely. I was just out shooting 300 yds. with a bunch of different guns, from .223 to .300WM without a problem at all in a 5" circle. It was a lot of fun but left me wanting more of a challenge. Even my old '03 Springfield .30-06 is accurate in standing pose at that distance. I'm ready for these longer distances you guys are talking about but I have nowhere near by.
I thought my reload room was getting too much stuff but now that I have seen Cigarcop's I think I am justified in spending a few more thousand dollars on it.

The event I was in (1000 Yrds shoot) this past weekend went well except for Sat when the winds were 20 mph+ and switching at some points making it very difficult to read the conditions. On Sunday the winds weren't that bad and I won the match that day shooting a 197 out of 200 with only 3 shots in the 9 ring....11 shots were in the X ring:)
The overall results won't be posted till next week.

congrats on the win.
My Fri shooting was great at the 175 loads were on target. Sat was HOT and the mirage and wind made for an interesting day. I was shooting 168s and and the conditions moved them all around.
We did get the bright idea to take a Nagant and shoot it with 178s out to 600 yds. Surprisingly we were able to keep it in the center of a tractor tire every shot once we got the hold under down.
Then at a 1000 yds we were able to get a 6'x6' grouping...:r
The sights suck, the trigger sucked and my shoulder hurt like hell after 20 rounds.

National Concealed Carry Bill Plans Revealed
Neil W. McCabe, Editor
Dear Guns & Patriots readers,
The debt ceiling talks continue to dominate Washington, but that does not mean the battle to protect gun rights has moved offstage.
One very positive development is the anticipated re-introduction by Sen. John R. Thune, R-Utah, of his national concealed carry bill. Thune's 2009 bill received 58 votes in the Senate and with the increase in pro-gun rights Senators in this session, many have wondered why he has waited so long. I asked the Senator that question, along with questions about the BATFE's Project Gun Runner and other issues, sure to interest the readers of Guns & Patriots in an exclusive July 14 interview. My article based on the interview is part of this week's offering and we have audio from the interview in this week's podcast.
In this week's podcast, my co-host Brian H. Darling, who is a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, explains what is happening at Capitol Hill with the debt ceiling talks and the different versions of the Balanced Budget Amendment. Darling writes the "Legislative Lowdown" column for Human Events every week, and you can read his last column here. Also in the podcast, you will here my conversation with historian Robert J. Laplander, the author of "Finding the Lost Battalion," who produces our Medal of Honor Roll Call column every week. You can subscribe for the podcast at iTunes here.
Cork Graham drills down on a major flaw in how we process and value different intelligence feeds for further use by our troops. Graham interviewed retired Army Maj. John Plaster, the author of "The Ultimate Sniper," and a former operator in the Special Observation Group during the war to save our ally south Vietnam. Plaster has some scary things to say about recently declassified National Security Agency Documents that detail how during the war.
Eric Andringa writes about an importance of how we pass on a respect and reverence for firearms to our children. Andringa describes the first time he showed his stepson a 9mm and let him hold it. It is an article that should resonate with us all.
Richard L. Johnson weighs in with a review of the BLACKHAWK! recoil reducing stocks. Johnson is a career law enforcement professional and trainer. Whenever I read his product reviews, I feel like he is writing from both his own perspective and from the prospective of someone he would have to be training—like me.
This week, Nicholas Pardini joins our roster. Pardini is a professional money manager and financial analyst, who has written for the Seeking Alpha website, as well as other venues. This week, Pardini explains how the Federal Reserve debases our currency in his article "The Dangers of the Federal Reserve."
We are also joined by a new friend and contributor David Adams, the president of the Washington Chapter of the Society of the Third Infantry Division. Adams, who rose to the rank of Captain during his service in the Vietnam War and the Cold War, writes about our WWII landings on the south of France, Operation Dragoon. This operation is often called the Forgotten D-Day, and was a major part of the success of the Normandy invasion because it opened up a second front. There will be ceremonies Aug. 4-7 commemorating Operation Dragoon in Washington, D.C.
This edition is so chock full of great articles—a better e-newsletter, a millionaire's money couldn't buy!

^^ No doubt! Funny but true........
Picked up a few boxes of unprimed Hornady Match brass to reload. Managed to load two different batches of twenty five rounds so far. Still waiting for my rifle to be done and it's driving me crazy that I still have not gotten to shoot it yet. :td
In the end I took my reload "kit" back and bought the components separate. Yeah, it cost a lot more in the end but I got some upgraded things that the kit doesn't offer. The electric powder measuring system is wicked cool.

Washington’s Gun Dean in a July 25 interview said the lesson to be learned from the July 22 massacre in Norway is that strict gun control leaves unarmed citizens helpless before a mad gunman.
"The recent mass murder in Oslo, Norway demonstrates that decent citizens need to be able to acquire and use firearms for the defense of their lives and the lives of their loved ones,” said John M. Snyder, the senior gun rights advocate in the nation’s capital and a founding member of The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Snyder, who operates the website www.GunRightsPolicies.org , said, "The message is clear. Gun laws do not stop mass murder. Citizens armed with guns do. Guns save lives.”
"When Anders Brevik allegedly murdered nearly 100 civilians, he used an automatic firearm, according to a police reports, even though the civilian acquisition and possession of such arms are prohibited in Norway, which generally has restrictive firearms laws," Snyder said.
After the reports to police of the killing rampage, it took an hour and a half for law enforcement officials to arrive at the scene. Brevik apparently continued the killing spree until he ran out of ammunition, he said.
"What all this tells us is that the strict Norwegian gun control laws did not prevent the mass murder," Snyder said. "They did make it virtually impossible for a prospective armed Norwegian legally to have the gun which he or she could have used to take down the violent criminal perpetrator anytime during the 90-minute horror."
Other incidents indicate the same truth about citizens and guns.
A couple of years ago, on November 11, 2009, Maj. Nidal Malik Hassan allegedly killed 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas and wounded many others before being stopped heroically by local police, he said.
Even though this occurred at a military base, service men and women were prevented from having the guns they could have used to stop Hassan because of a Clinton-era policy preventing American military personnel from being armed at bases in the United States, he said.
On April 16, 2007, Seung-Hui Cho murdered 32 people and then himself at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Even though the Commonwealth of Virginia has a law allowing individuals with a state-issued permit to carry a concealed firearm, VA Tech policy prohibits professors and students from carrying guns on campus even if they have such a permit. The policy did not stop Cho, but it did prevent anyone from being able legally to stop Cho.
Just last fall, the Al-Qaeda linked Internet magazine Inspire encouraged lone wolf militant Islamist terrorists to go into restaurants in downtown Washington, D.C. during the lunch hour, and fire away at diners in the hopes of killing a number of people, including federal employees. Washington, D.C. prohibits even law-abiding citizens from carrying firearms. The powers-that-be there render law-abiding citizens defenseless in the face of a potential mass-murdering terrorist.
Contrast these incidents with the January 16, 2002 incident at the Appalachian Law School in Grundy, Virginia when two students with guns stopped what could have been a mass murder when they tackled a culprit after he had killed three people.
Consider, too, the October 1, 1997 incident in Pearl, Mississippi, when an assistant principal at a high school went to his car, got his gun and shot the murderer of two students.
Recall the April 24, 1998 time in Edinboro, Pennsylvania when a bystander pointed a shotgun at the murderer of a teacher when he stopped to reload.
"As a matter of fact, citizens with guns stop crime two and a half million times a year, according to Professor Gary Kleck, Ph.D. of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida State University in Tallahassee."
"Fortunately, federal legislators are beginning to realize that guns can be used to stop crime. Over 240 Congressmen have cosponsored H.R. 822, the proposed National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011 by Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., he said. "H.R. 822 would allow people with permits to carry concealed firearms issued by a state to carry in other states. Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., has committed to introduce a national reciprocity bill in the near future, too.
"The word is getting around. Gun laws do not stop crime. Citizens with guns do. Guns save lives. Support national right to carry reciprocity,” the Gun Dean said.

I was out in the woods shooting with a buddy and I was shown a rapid fire trick.
He held his thumb pointing into his hip through the trigger on a Ruger semi-auto carbine. Then he pulls the gun forward with his other hand on the forestock. The gun empties the ten round magazine in an instant because the recoil resets the trigger but the pressure is still there to shoot it. The accuracy sucks but it's a fun way to make noise. The rate of fire seems a lot higher than regular full-auto guns. All my life I've been shooting and never saw this before. I think I've heard of it though. In fact, I remember some device that sounded like it worked on this principal.
I figure it's like $3 or $4 per second.

That works with any gun, it's a neat trick but I don't like not being able to aim properly. Like you said it's painfully expensive depends on what kind of ammo you're shooting.
I dunno about the rate of fire I've never done this or compared it to a full auto. But I do remember shooting a full auto MP5 and I have to say DAYYYUUUUMMMM. But it cost me about $10 a clip (or $10 every like 2-3 seconds) :td
Good times though, and worth it.

I sold my eotech sight, so now I can use that money to buy a AR lower to put on an upper I aleady have. (I'm tired of switching upper receivers back and forth.) So should I try to build my own from a kit, or buy a complete lower? I feel handy/smart enough to assemble it but I am worried about getting into it and suddenly needing a special tool I don't have. Part of me wants to enjoy the challenge of assembling one, but mostly I am looking to save money. But I'm willing to spend a bit more if it means getting it done right. BTW getting the lower delivered to me is no problem; I have a FFL lined up already.

I say just build it yourself. I just built my first one using a pair of channel lock pliers covers with electrical tape to help prevent scratches. It was easy! Now I have punches because I have more to build.
The only special tool you may need is the ar wrench for the castle nut. But you can easily just use your hands.

If your building, make sure to check/clean all the holes were detents and springs are inserted. Also make sure the bolt catch slot is smooth as at times it's a bit rough in there from the finish.

You can bump fire from the shoulder too. Here I am with my buddies semi ar bumpfiring from the shoulder while aiming. My AKs are great at bumpfiring, just harder to do it from the shoulder, the light recoil of the 5.56 makes it easy.
But yeah, kind of expensive to do it now. I miss the days of $2 a box 5.56.

Can't you get a .30-30 for deer and a 12 ga. for turkey?
I just looked online at Indiana's laws and it looks like I can't use a rifle for a turkey. Guess I'll have to buy a slug barrel for my Remington 870 12ga:
"Legal Equipment:
Turkeys can be hunted only with:
• A 10-, 12-, 16- or 20-gauge shotgun loaded with pellets of size No. 4, 5, 6, 7 or 7½.
• A muzzleloading shotgun not smaller than 20-gauge and not larger than 10-gauge, loaded with pellets of size No. 4, 5, 6, 7 or 7½. Combination loads using shot sizes other than these are illegal.
• Bow and arrow
• A crossbow"
Here is the info for deer:
"Rifles with cartridges that fire a bullet
of .357-inch diameter or larger; have a minimum case length of 1.16 inches; and have a maximum case length of 1.625 inches are legal to use only during the deer firearm season. Some cartridges legal for deer hunting include the .357 Magnum, .38-.40 Winchester, .41 Magnum, .41 Special, .44 Magnum, .44 Special, .44-.40 Winchester, .45 Colt, .454 Casull, .458 SOCOM, .475 Linebaugh, .480 Ruger, .50 Action Express, and .500 S&W"
I don't believe a .30-.30 would be allowed. Am I right?

That info is weird. They say "rifle" and then list a bunch of handgun cartridges while omitting a lot of rifle rounds that would fit their definition.
Maybe that section is only for rifles that shoot handgun loads.
Edit: Or maybe that's all they want you to shoot with. Not many large caliber rifle round cases less than 1 5/8" long.

Indiana is a "no rifle" state meaning the only rifles you can use are ones that shoot handgun rounds, which is why they list all those. If I was you, I would use a 12 guage and take both slugs for deer and heavyshot (or similar) for turkey.

I don't believe a .30-.30 would be allowed. Am I right?
Correct. As Ryan said, no rifle state meaning they don't want people's rifle rounds travelling into populated areas. The lower half of Michigan's lower penninsula is the same way; Shotgun slugs and pistol only for firearm deer season. The northern LP and UP are both rifle friendly, but from what I hear (and have seen) there are less deer up there compared to down here lately.

I am looking at purchasing this rifle: H&R .44 Mag (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=251425204)
We bought land in Indiana and they have dumb hunting laws requiring certain calibers. 44 Mag is one of the approved calibers. What do you think of this gun for deer/turkey hunting?
Buddy had one of those in .223, it was surprisingly accurate.
I have a Marlin lever action in .44mag. It's a thumper, love that thing.
What do you use to hunt with Mike?
Sorry I missed this earlier. I have a 12-gauge Remington 870 Express SuperMag that I shot my button buck with last year. It's a regular smooth bore barrel with a simply bead sight.
Like this:
http://www.remington.com/~/media/Images/Firearms/Shotguns/Model-870/Model-870-Express-Super-Mag-Synthetic/870exp_smag_syn-prod.ashx
I shot a rifled 2 3/4" slug. I hit it in the spine from about 40 yards away. I was aiming for vitals but I hit the spine at the base of the neck. It ricochet downward hitting the upper half of the opposite leg shattering the bone. It dropped where it was standing despite my poor shot.
I will be doing a little more practice this year with it before I take to the field during firearm season. I just picked up a 15.5 ft ladder stand I'll be putting up in the back yard as well. This will make it even safer given the downward trajectory of any errant or passthrough rounds. It also helps get me closer without giving away my postion.
I thought about picking up a cantilevered barrel which when mounted would look like this:
http://www.remington.com/~/media/Images/Firearms/Shotguns/Model-870/Model-870-Express-Slug-Gun/870exp_slug.ashx
The cantilevered barrel is thicker, rifled, and has the scope mount rails. They sell combos with both for around $400. However, I paid $250 for mine and the separate cantilevered barrels run around $200.
For that same $200 I can buy a dedicated slug gun and not have to mess with swapping barrels. That is my recommendation for you. If you don't have a good 12-gauge shotgun then buy a combo. If you do have one, just find a good dedicated 12-gauge slug gun. Remington & Mossberg are both really good shotguns that are pretty easy on the wallet.

I have a Remington 870 Express, but it doesn't have a slug barrel. What do you think, buy a slug barrel or just buy a separate gun.
Actually, I think my brother has a Mossberg that has both barrels. Hmmm... :hm

It's a real Aimpoint Comp M2. Was on my 20" AR until I decided to go with an ACOG, so I threw it on the GSG-5.
I had an Aimpoint clone on the 14.5" AR you see above. I can't recall who made it but after about a year it would flicker on/off with recoil and annoyed the crap out of me, so I ditched it.
I'm debating selling it and trying another clone though. Don't need an optic as nice a real Aimpoint on a GSG-5, with a $20 mount.

Yes. I've always listened to GI Joe and he hasn't let me down yet.
I may be in the market for a hand gun. Inexpensive, easy to shoot for a beginner. For fun at the range and home defense (god forbid). My friend who is "into it" suggested a Glock 19 but I wasn't really expecting to have to spend upwards of $600 to get started (plus a safe and all the accessories). I'm not looking to carry.
Would going with something cheaper to start be shooting myself in the foot? (har-har-har)
I should add the last time I shot a firearm was about 20 years ago and was my grandfathers .410.

Around $300 to start...doesn't seem too bad.
Andrew, if you have no intention of carrying and want a good home defense weapon get a 12-guage pump action shotgun. If you get a regular (not pistol grip/short barrel) you can use it for home defense, busting clays, hunting birds or even deer. They are very versatile, cost $250-300 and will last a lifetime. Remington and Mossberg are both very popular and well made shotguns.
Shotguns, with pellets (not slugs) will not over penetrate passing into a neighbors home should the $**t hit the fan. You also don't have to really aim them for home defense, rather tuck it under your elbow, point, and shoot. Very effective.
Plus I've heard a deaf burgler can hear a pump action shotgun being loaded from a mile away and usually run in the opposite direction. ;)

Mike thanks for taking the time...I was thinking of something that I could use for target shooting at the range as well so I'm not sure a shotgun would work for that but it's a good thought.

12-03-2011, 02:56 PM
For home defense I 100% agree with Mike, a rem 870 pump is the perfect home defense weapon.
I recommend this: Rossi 972, 6in Barrel, 357 Mag (https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/80038)
Look familiar? Ammo is around $20 a box, dead simple to use, great for target practice, and definitely has that sh!t your pants factor for criminals.

12-03-2011, 03:00 PM
The idea of the .22 is great. You can buy 500 rounds for about 20 bucks and shoot all day. The Buckmark eats just about any type of ammo you put in it. I love my .22's. :)
That said, pretty hard to beat the solid thump of a 1911 but paying for the pistol and the ammo is another story entirely.
I have a Sig 226 and it's a fine pistol but if I were to buy another 9mm I'd go with the Beretta 92FS just as a matter of personal preference. Feels better in my hand and I am more accurate w/ those things for some reason.

I have always enjoyed shooting and I am just now starting to get a little collection going. My first pick up was a Ruger P95(Pics to come) and than after expressing some interest my dad give me these two shotgun. These have some age on them as he got them when his father passed away and now I get them. The first is a 12 gauge Remington Model 31. The second is a 16 gauge browning A5 "Sweet 16." They appear to be in pretty good shape. I plan to get them cleaned up and get some rounds through them before the weather gets too bad here in Ohio. If anyone has any suggests for things to do before shooting that would be great.

OK guys this is going to be embarrassing to admit but I don't know squat about 1911 style guns. I've picked up somethings about other popular makes but for some reason I just never picked up on the 1911 . So go ahead and laugh :D.
I'll be going to shot this year and hope to pick up a deal on one say from baer or nighthawk; reason is everyone is telling me if I'm going to get one that I better do it right. We're a dealer for both bear and nighthawk so the price although high will hopefully be right, depending on what the big boss let's me get;). Is there anything that you guys can tell me about the platform to go down the right path.
I know that every company has lemons and I've seen both a nighthawk completely fail and a front sight fall off a les baer but never seen or heard the outcome of either events. But if you've had any experiences with either customer service departments I'd like to hear your experience. Or am I better of just getting a Kimber. Remember I'm I'm Cali and don't have all models available to me so I was looking at possibly the baer custom carry or a hawk grp.

I had a gun that Ed Brown himself built, back when he was building them. It sucked. I had to have a local gunsmith fix it.
That was back in the 80's. I hear his stuff is better now.

The brand is American Classic. The model is American Classic II. Same model as the FIrestorm DLX. Made by Metro Arms in the Philippines. Both sights are dove tailed. No rattle at all. The slide to frame fit is very tight. It shoots great. Here are two reviews.

I've owned a Delta Elite, and nowadays have a Glock model 20. I believe that the Glock soaks up recoil better in 10mm than the 1911 design, but neither has ever been unpleasant to shoot.
My main reason for having a 10mm handgun is for carry in places with predatory animals bigger than humans. Gotta say I feel better armed with the 15 +1 rounds a Model 20 carries. Also feel less anxious about bumping around the woods with a super tough tenifer finish instead of bluing or even shiny stainless.
Also, the Glock will likely handle a lot more rounds of hot ammo than a Delta would without issues but that's a moot point to me.

I'm about to "pull the trigger" :r on getting a new pistol for bear protection. (I've been carring my Glock 22 in 40 S&W.) I'm working as an assistant hunting guide in Southeast Alaska. I keep changing my mind between 45 and 10mm. Actually I was all set to buy the 10mm but then the guy I work with got the 45 and I thought it would be nice if the crap hit the fan, if we had the same ammo and mags. Thoughts?

You have more power with the 10mm. And I'm pretty sure the G20 can take a barrel conversion to 40S&W round. Also a 15 round mag, 1 in the chamber is a good thing too, and its a 10mm:D

You have to consider that in a panic situation you may have trouble with follow up shots. These super magnums like the .500, .460 and .454 may jump right out of your hand if you are firing off a quick shot. Better to be pumping in more lower powered rounds on target.

OK, I realize it's not a pistol, but for stopping power and quick follow up shots...I'm just saying!

If I was guiding in Alaska I would carry a stubby 12 Gauge with slugs slung on my back, I am a pretty good shot with a pistol but when I am sharting down both legs I might not be very accurate :r

I have heard alot of guides carrying flares and flare guns, supposedly scares the hell outta bears and they run right off.
