Spaten Oktoberfest Ur-Märzen, in a giant stein as God intended. I wish they made this year-round, it really is one of my favorite beer styles. Not too hoppy, not too grainy; just right, and very quaffable even with all of its flavor.

Not much of a fan of the Oktoberfest brews I've had to date. Just not for me, I guess. However, I am currently enjoying a Spaten Optimator. Just a good doppelbock.

Wanger - I like the Vanilla Porter. It has a slightly smoother and sweeter taste than most porters and the Vanilla isn't overpowering.
Hornitosmonster - I find Old Speckled Hen to be enjoyable. I don't know if its the best English Ale but it's something I would buy again. Maybe someone from England could weigh in on how it compares with other English Ales.
Out of the four, I have to say I like the Hobgoblin the best.

Ok here we go
I think Sierra Nevada uses more hops or use a stronger tasting hop for the majority of their beers (idk their porter and stout are AMAZING). Now for Sam Adams, if u have ever had a regular SA Boston Lager, (to me) its much hoppier than say a Yuengling or other American lagers.
If you havent looked at this site http://beeradvocate.com/ you really should. They have alot of reviews, info, and anything else you could ask for about beer.
For beers to try. I would go for any Oktoberfest marzen out now. Hefeweizens are really good...um to me porters and stouts arent really hoppy but idk about your tastes.
Im sorry for just rambling or not making any sense.
I LOVE hops :D

Yesterday's beer on my "365 Bottles of Beer" calendar was Kill Ugly Radio, an Imperial IPA from the Lagunitas Brewing Company. Never heard of it, but was apparently an homage to Frank Zappa. Thought I would share this "Quaff Quote" from the calendar page:
You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline--it helps if you have some kind of football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. --Frank Zappa

Picked up two 6ers last night at the store on my way home.
Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA
Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale
I've had the 60 min before and it's one of my favorite IPA's. I've also had the 90 min version as well but I tend to enjoy the 60 more. The Smuttynose Pumpkin is new to me though. I cracked open one as soon as it was relatively cool and really enjoyed it. The Smutty didn't have the overwhelming pumpkin pie spice flavor many pumpkin ales have. There was a nice balance of maltiness, spice, and actual pumpkin flavor. Definitely one of the best Pumpkin Ales I've tried. If you enjoy Pumpkin Ale I would definitely recommend this one and also Shipyard's Pumpkin Ale. Although the Shipyard version has stronger spice flavors.

I drank these three beers last night.
Czechvar Pilsner - C+. I would drink this again. For the price it was a good pick-up.
Shipyard IPA - C-/D. Very disappointed in this one. Shipyard usually puts out solid beers. This one just missed. I will not seek it out again as there are way too many IPA's that are much better. I do enjoy Shipyard Pumpkin.
Genesee Cream Ale - D/F - Was not really drinkable. It was my first one and for me it tasted like Sweet/Creamed Corn. I almost poured it down the drain but I managed to choke it down.

I really enjoy Harpoon IPA, so I was expecting great things from this. Unfortunately, it's another typical "let's see how much malt & hops we can throw together" type of brew, without much character. Disappointing, especially at $11/4pk.

I drink the Werewolf (Lithuanian Beer) last night. It is supposed to be a Belgian Dark Ale. I don't see how anyone can call it dark. It's not. You can see through it for heaven's sake. It is however a rich orange tinted dark amber. I thought the aroma was nice and fruity and picked up a pronounced citrus flavor from the first taste. The label says its 8.2% alcohol but I didn't find any alcohol bite to speak of. I paid $4.99 a bottle (16.9 oz) and at that price I may buy some more. I thought it was very drinkable.

We started off with a Werewolf. Then had a glass of Dragonhead (from Orkney). We are now sharing a bottle of Black Douglas Scottish Ale.
The Dragonhead is a very black ale with a pronounced flavor of bittersweet chocolate and strong coffee. My daughter took a sip and said the Dragonhead tasted like the dregs of coffee left when you leave the coffee sitting in the pot for about six hours. My son said it went very good with the white fudge oreo he was eating.
The Black Douglas is very good and seems light after drinking the Dragonhead.

Drinking a Victory Storm King as I write this. My first Russian Imperial Stout. Black like motor oil. I think I should have let it warm up before I drank it. Right out of the refrigerator all I tasted was malt and alcohol (9.1%). Now that it's warmed up a bit I'm getting more rounded flavors of black coffee and some hops. I'm not sure I could drink this regularly, but as a 'once in a while' drink I think it would be nice.

Nope, I like the large bottles best about 68 degree's or even off the shelf and I pour a little in a small glass (half-pint) and continue topping off as you go. Someone commented that I drink it like a georgie. Not sure what that means or if it is good or bad.
recently went to San Antonio and drank some Tecatewith lime and some place woould dip the top of the can in salt beffore opening and then pu tthe lime on. Mighty fine, mighty fine indeed. Goes great with a high grade Blanco tequilla to sip on. I had Patron and Cabo on two different nights. I think I actually like the Cabo better for this.

I thought the same of both of these when I had them. The 120 minute IPA, while boozy, was not too much so for it's strength. The hang ten is 10%, but I thought it tasted as boozy as the WWS, even though the WWS is 20%.
Still both too boozy tasting for my liking.

They were both good. I thought the Shakespeare was better. The Chocolate Stout has a nice bittersweet chocolate taste that isn't overpowering. It's a bit more hoppy than I normally like but I think that it is very drinkable. My only issue was figuring out what temperature to drink it at. I had it in the refrigerator so it was cold when I first poured it. In my opinion the flavor improved as it warmed up.

Beer, cigars, it doesn't matter what you're talking about. In the end it comes down to personal preference. Just because someone says a cigar/beer is the best in the world doesn't mean you'll like it.

Great Lakes Christmas Ale...nice but very heavy on after taste also not as sweet as past years.
12 Dogs of Christmas Ale....brewed by the original brewer for Great Lakes, I really enjoy this brew over GL. Definately sweeter honey and better spice blend.

Stone's Sublimely Self Righteous is freaking awesome.
Yes it is.
Had a few Christmas beers, Great Lakes and Rogue were my favorites. I wouldn't want to drink many of any of them though, not my thing. Had a Heavy Seas Peg Leg Imperial Stout tonight, it was decent, although I am very picky about my Stouts.
I also took a keg of my Kentucky Common and American Pale Ale to family Thanksgiving that both got demolished. Everyone loved them both. I need to start brewing more, family functions are killing my pipeline. I never have any beer for myself!

Had a Furthermore Knot Stock with dinner. Very interesting beer. It's an IPA that is brewed with the addition of pepper corns. There is a definite taste of pepper around the hops.

Had a Southern Tier Unearthly last night. Not a bad beer but not really my thing. I prefer my IPAs with more grapefruit flavor and this one had more of a "cat piss" thing going on. Also, the first flavor hitting my palate was a strong almost bourbon like sweetness. This beer had a good amount of body too.
All-in-all a decent IPA just not really what I look for.
