Sorry, but have to review this considering it's $4.50 per can normal price point. And at that price, epic fail.

One noted roastiness. Nice mouthfeel, good taste, but, again, one note.

At that price point I can't help but compare it to the GI Nightstalker, and the Nightstalker is much, much better.

Drinking a Unibroue/Trader Joe's 2009 Vintage. I think this is my 3rd bottle, but I'm still not sure that I "get" this beer. It's got this raisin/plum thing going on, and also a lemon/citrus thing going on, and I'm not sure that the two types get along very well on my tongue. But I bought 6 bottles, so I hope I figure it out and enjoy at least one of them.

I had a bottle of the new Sam Adams Latitude 48 IPA last night. If you open this bottle thinking you're going to get something along the lines of Dogfish 60 min, Stone IPA, Racer 5, etc, etc you're going to be sorely dissapointed. This IPA is a little something different.

It's kind of a blend of the British and the American version of IPA. It's got European hops, British hops, and American hops which gives it a unique flavor among IPAs in America or really anywhere. Frankly, I think this beer could use a little more body and more malt sweetness, but overall I thought this was an enjoyable beer.

If beer is too cold it numbs your tastebuds, hiding all the flavor. That's why with cheap shitty beer people are like "It's so good, it just has to be ice cold." No, it's shitty, which is why it has to be ice cold.

My fridge is about 38*F. I typically pour into a glass, and sip on a beer slowly, to see how it changes from cold to cool (55*F or so). Some beers I will let warm up a little before I pour it.

I got an Avery Maharajah tonight. Good stuff.

I wish growlers were legal in GA! My go-to beer is Sweetwater IPA and the fresher the better. I pass the brewery everyday on the way home but no direct sales are allowed here so I have to pay close attention for the latest bottle dates at the local stores. Growlers would insure its always at its best

A little story about the beer I had last night: back in the mid-90's, I found the ale that set me on the path to becoming a Hophead. The Old Dominion Brewing company in Ashburn, VA, released Tupper's Hop Pocket Ale and it quickly became one of my favorite beers. We lived up in Northern Virginia at the time, so it was easy enough to find. I also tried to concoct numerous clone recipes that I happily brewed myself. A few years later, the brewmaster at Old Dominion left for Victory Brewing and Tupper's never really tasted the same. Old Dominion eventually stopped brewing it, and the brewery went defunct. But I still remember that beer as one of my first "true loves" :al :r

Imagine my surprise when, yesterday, I'm wandering through Whole Foods and saw an entire Tupper's display! The beer is now brewed by St. George Brewing Company in Hampton, VA, and follows the original recipe. I picked up a 4 pack for $8, and cracked open a bottle last night:

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii88/kaisersozei/Beer/tuppers.jpg

Great stuff, just about how I remember it. Well balanced pale ale, not quite in the IPA range, more like a hoppy amber. But still very complex and tasty!

Schlafly American IPA.
I must say, it is noice to be home.
The week of having Molsen served to me in Detroit sucked schweaty donkey balls.

I picked up some more of the Schlafly Kolsch to bring home to PA with me. Those Schlafly guys are doin' somethin right.

Last night I had a pint of Speakeasy Collaborative Double Blonde ale, on draft at Capital Ale House. It was more like a Belgian than a blonde ale, but holy crap that was some good beer! :al

Brewed to celebrate Ben's 300th birthday.

Whether Ben Franklin ever said, "Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy" is up for debate. Some say he said it, others say he didn't. No one knows for sure.

Historical facts or fictions aside, Yards Brewing Company has recreated Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce Ale™ to celebrate Franklin's affinity for fine ales. Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce Ale is based on Franklin's original recipe, which called for spruce essence and molasses, as barley and hops were not readily available at the time.

Enjoy a taste of history courtesy of Yards Brewing Company, Philadelphia's premier brewer and bottler.

ABV 5.0%

The latest one I had was a New Belgium Ranger IPA. Being that NB hasn't had an IPA ever to my knowledge before this one I'm really quite impressed. It's no Hercules DIPA, but it's damn good.
