Is that a double or triple IPA Tim?

I....must.....find......this....beer!

TRIPLE

Limited as Nemesis and KBS from what I gather.
I left my store with 20 4-packs.
At $21 each, I don't see them flying off the shelf.

Yes, yes you do.
It officially just became cold enough to crack one and it is pretty damned good.
Just a touch more bitter than I normally go for at 112IBU, but the flavor overcomes it. No bitter aftertaste at all with a very smooth floral finish. Surprisingly sweet too.
This may sound weird, but it kinda tastes like a Party 898.

I can see myself drinking four in a sitting very easily.

Well there are so many; Fat Tire, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Red Tail Ale, to name a few. Right now, I would be happy for a Coors Light. In Afghanistan for another 9 Months. We are not able to drink at all. I will read how good the beer is from all of you.

As far as micro brew v. German, there are great beers in both worlds I just see the craft beer world as more adventuresome and having more options.

I've had a great micro brew and I've had a horrible micro brew. There a a lot of breweries that I only like one or two beers from there are others that I like everything they make. I've had some interesting German beers I liked in the past and really like a good Belgium's!

I don't care where it's from just as long as it's good!

Germany makes some good beers, but they are pretty limited in style. The US micros make very good beers with a wider selection than you will find anywhere else in the world. For the most part, the traditional areas still make their traditional beer; German lagers in Germany, English style ales in the UK, etc. The US makes every style out there, including some that have virtually disappeared from their traditional areas, plus our own takes on all of them. The only real exception are the American macro lagers, which are available world wide.

Is that different from the Raison D'Etre? If its the same, its actually cheaper here than any of the other DFH beers.

Jbailey
06-16-2010, 05:25 PM
It is different and way better than the D'etre!

-edit-

It's called a Belgian Strong Dark Ale with 18ABV!

-edit again-

Still thinking of this and I was amazed to see that this was 18ABV. When compared to the Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout with a 13ABV and the alcohol more in your face. This Raison D'Extra is so well balanced it's just crazy. I might have to grab a few more to put away.

I wonder if that's from the beer itself or from aging. Do your bottles have a date on them? I still haven't heard of any later than 2007.

Honestly, I can't remember. IIRC it's printed on the bottle itself, not the label, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. I'm thinking it's yellow ink. I have some Palo Santo Marron that the date's unreadable on, though.

I also agree there are great beers in Germany and in the Micro Brews in the US. The difference is is that the American Micro brews offer several different kinds of beer. From the dark porter to a light pilsner. Hell I love them all. I cant drink Bud or Coors anymore unless I absolutely have too.

There is no such thing as 'enough' of a good beer
(PSA: Always drink responsibly)

We can't get it here, I did find it in SC last week but opted for the Bear Republic stuff instead but I will be going back for both.

We have a cigar bar here that allows for a cork fee if you have locker. I guess they would allow beer but I've only seen folks pull out liquor

Finishing a bomber of Oaked Unearthly IPA right now. Not usually a HUGE fan of oaked brews, but I have to say the oak really compliments the hops in this one.

On a more serious note, found out that Surly had to pull out of the Chicago market due to them not being able to meet the demand in even their home market. Apparently it is an indefinite pull out, and the barkeep I talked to said that it would be at least three months before they resumed shipments, and probably will take until the end of the year. Dang it! I can still find most of their brews around, but furious is nowhere to be found, at least not where I can go without a car.

Do it! After brew day, all you really need is a cool, dark space (like a coat closet) where you can sit a 5 gallon bucket for a couple weeks. Doesn't take up much space at all. Trust me, I'm from CA! ;)

Coffee Bender is the one Surly I don't care for. Too much coffee for my preferences. Love regular Bender though.

Took my older son fishing tonight on my neighbor's dock. He fished, I had a couple PBR's and smoked a Los Statos Delirios. It's all good.

I have decided it may be very good with Brunch, lol. I like my coffee.

I also thought about simply taking a good beer and adding some cold pressed coffee might accomplish the same thing, within reason.

Me and a couple of my friends are currently enjoying a couple of 2009 Goose Island Bourbon County stouts with Anejo 48's. Very complimentary to each other.

I agree.
I almost had one of the bourbon county coffee stouts tonight, but it was a bit warm. I usually like em chilled just a bit, room temp doesn't do it for me.
Night Stalker is also nummy.

I got a couple chillin for Friday now... The Bourbon County Coffee and a 2010 Dark Lord. The dark lord has been hanging out for what, 4 months now?Time for a taster. :tu

Two things you can't have enough of: Stone's and DFH! :dr

Oh, and Sierra Nevada. So that's three. Three things you can't have enough of.

Well, and good cigars. So that's four things.

Ok, five things: naked women. But that's it. Five things you can't have enough of.

I'm drinking a Surly Cynic Ale.

Since Pete posted a picture, I will too. ;)
