Newcastle Brown Ale.

You are beginning to scare me with our similarities, Newcastle is exactly what I was about to write. Can't find it on draft here in Ottawa though, a bar used to have it, and I was in heaven ordering it by the pitcher, but they stopped, apparently I was the only one who enjoyed it.

NICE love the Three Floyds Dreadnaught I killed a case in a month, it was fantastic. :tu

Agreed. We are somewhat spoiled here in SoCal with some great IPA's/DIPA's, so many of the east coast ones I have had haven't been anything special. But I thought the Dreadnaught was excellent.

From Ratebeer:

COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lukcy Basartd is a dry-hopped meeting-of-the-Bastards in a in-the-fermenter-blend of Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale…with a perfect balance of the essence of OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale. All in all, one awesome Bastard.

Lukcy Basartd Ale will be released in November and should be available in many of the enlightened locations where the liquid Arrogance is typically found.

This is a ‘once only’ special release commemorating the 13 year anniversary of when Arrogant Bastard Ale was first released upon the unsuspecting public. That is, ‘once only’ unless we decide to make it again.

I'd be glad to help. I'm sending awsmith a few of mine here soon. All I really have right now is some nice session beers. It will be awhile before I can brew a bunch of my bigger awesome beers. My FES and IPA are awesome. 35 gallons (6 beers on tap) was consumed at my house on halloween, all homebrew. It was awesome.

A local pub just tapped a firkin of the Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA...got to get over there before it's gone...

http://www.dogfish.com/community/news/press-releases/dogfish-announces-75-minute-ipa-simul-cask.htm

Johnny Cask has entered the building! We've retrofitted a 15 barrel tank to perfectly produce a very special cask conditioned ale (so, we have a little time to play around during winters at the Delaware coast). This beer, known as Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA is a blend of 60 and 90 Minute IPAs with a special whole leaf cascade dry-hopping session. Post-hopping the beer gest transferred into firkins and dosed with fresh yeast and maple syrup from the ole family homestead (actually the first batch will be re-fermented with maple syrup from the farm up the road from ours since ours won't be ready until late March. We plan to ramp up our maple house activities to get a lot more syrup for Immort Ale, 75 Minute and future beers in the coming months and years).

Cool. Thanks for the suggestions. Are either of those going to be "bitter" to the taste at all?

To me the Rouge is roasty and chocolaty but not excessively sweet; think baking chocolate. I only had the SA Choc Bock when it was in the bomber, but I think Rouge's has a similar profile. Left Hand's Milk Stout kind of sweet and creamy - I know several people who really like it who don't tend to like beer. I don't find either bitter, but I have the palate of a goat (and I like bitter - Stone Ruination = :al)

Sup fellas?
Been gone on bidness/vacay for a bit and had time for a few beers..... not to say that I enjoyed them all, but tried most every Japanese beer and a few Japanese craft beers... and some shitty Mexican beers.
The usual suspects were... Corona, Modelo, Negra Modelo, Asahi, Asahi Black(bar far the best and most consumed on my part), Kirin, Sapporo.
But.... I found a cool American Craft brew pub in Tokyo that had an AMAZING selction at ASTOUNDING (my wallet had to go home 3 days early) prices.
Their list of cool stuff(not all inclusive):
Alesmith Speedway, Three Floyds Dark Lord, Gumballhead, Popskull, Lost Abbey Serpant's Stout, Lost & Found, Founders you name it they had it all, Stone Vertical Epic 10 10 10..... it was insane!!
their tap list... http://craftheads.jp/craftheads/Beers.html

They're both complete different. The 10K seems to have an abundance of flavors and things going on (malty, hoppy etc.) when compared to the 9K. Almost too much and seems to need some time to settle down. If I had to pick a beer that's a meal this beer would be it.

I got two 6 packs sitting in the cellar and we'll see how this stuff turns out for the long haul.

Really enjoying this Victory Yakima Glory. Black IPA. Strong @ 8.7% , but not as alcohol forward as you might think. Malty and hoppy with a pleasant finish.

Lots of citrus, plums and raisin, and there was no way I would have guessed it has 10% ABV. Just terrific, worthy of it's world-class reputation. The store I found the 2008 at has a few more bottles and I'll be picking them up this week. I haven't seen the 2010 yet, but will keep my eyes open for it.

I cannot get that beer but is does seem like a steep price for a Sam Adams offering. 750 ml's do usually cost $12-$14 but that's from Dogfish Head which IMO is a very great brewery. Not sure I could pay that more than once for ANY offering Sam Adams could come up with.

Picked up a 6 pack sampler of beers from August Schell's Brewing Company.

Would definitely recommend the Schell's Stout, this was unbelievable. Great flavor with a nice finish. I also enjoyed the Schell's Firebrick Ale, it was a sort of Amber style ale. And the Schell's Dark Lager, it was like a New Castle, except better.

I'm not sure how a dark lager can be similar to a brown ale (except for color).

I just cracked a Left Hand - Wake up Dead Barrel Aged Imperial Stout....we'll see if I enjoy it or not. Upon first taste, it's got that imperial stout taste I know and love but it seems a little light. I'll let this warm up and see if it gets better.

Verdict a big :td. It starts off very good but after that goes downhill and the finish is not enjoyable at all. I'd give it a 6/10

I picked up a 6'er of Founders Porter tonight. It's been a while since I've had some, but damn, this is a fine porter.

Abita Turbodog. Thoroughly surprised at how much I like it! I have never had Abita beer before but this is making me really consider picking up a few 6'ers in the future!

That's just what it was called, but it looked similar to a newcastle, except it was a little darker in color, and had a bolder taste. It tasted very similar tho.

Turbodog is probably their best offering. :2

Stone Lukcy Basartd

I'm not a huge Stone fan but this one is a winner. Interestingly, it is better than all three of the beers from which it is made, IMHO.

Just finished a glass of one of my favorite regular production beers, Dogfish Head Indian Brown. I'm never without a few bottles of this.

At a restaurant watching a friend play drums and got a guy from Ale Asylum handing out free samples.

Samples of Mercy and Ballistic.

Got a pint of Madtown Nut Brown.

Drinking my homebrew tonight; first a raspberry Belgian ale, and then an imperial porter with bourbon and vanilla.
