This is the Fist time and it won't be the last
This is brand new in Massachusetts

I didn't realize Boulevard was that far east! Glad to see our hometown brewery being enjoyed all over the country! Tank 7 is one of my favorites, really any of the Smokestack varities are all good in my book.
I like their Wheat also.

Ohio got Yuengling yesterday, so I was able to have my first (2) draft Yuengling's at the bowling alley. I think it's much better from the draft, not only that, I think once it warms up a bit, not a lot, it tastes so much better. I probably won't buy the bottles (unless it's the black and tan) now that I can, but I could definitely see myself ordering it in a bar on draft.

An article in the columbus dispatch interviewed a local carry out owner who had a party sunday night with people camping out. He compared it to when Coors went available back in 1981(?).

Finally had Pliney the Elder. Gotta say....I am far from impressed. What's the appeal here?

How fresh was it? They all should have a 'bottled date' on them.

My point being, if it wasn't super fresh (even a couple months could be considered "too old"), there's your problem. Hop aroma and flavor fade so quickly at that level, its best to drink super fresh. That's the appeal of this beer, the huge hope aroma and flavor (and the dry finish, to me anyway), so if its old and lacking that, then yes the appeal suffers. :2

Just recently picked up a few new to me. Had Shipyard's Smashed Pumpkin Ale the other day back-to-back with Dogfish Head's Punkin' Ale. They both succeeded pretty well in making nicely spiced pumpkin offerings. I think the Shipyard was a little better, but DFH gets a lot of credit for an aftertaste that tastes exactly like pumpkin pie.

Last night I had a DFH Palo Santo Marron. Wow, that's not a beer to underestimate. At 12% abv, it hits hard, but the alcohol wasn't too overpowering. I like it, but I'll probably keep it around as a once in a while thing.

Today's lineup while brewing a simple blonde and a Kate the Great clone. The Maharaja really doesn't fit with the rest of them but I'd never had it and thought it might. I'd tell you which one was my favorite but you'd all say I was favoring the local beer...

Heady Topper!!!

I was fortunate enough to get a 4'er of the Heady Topper, excellent beer I wish we could get all the time down here. :dr

I've had the rest, except for Blind Pig, would love to try that one.

On a side note, I had Southern Tier's Pumpking over the weekend. What an odd "nutty"/"meaty" taste to this beer, did not enjoy :td

I'm actually enjoying a great beer that I filled my growler with... Deschutes Hop Trip.

Pale, Fresh Hop
Available Oct - Dec
Limited Quantities
Alc. 5.4% | IBUs 38

Each year around Labor Day, Deschutes brewers high-tail it over the pass to Doug Weather’s hop fields near Salem for the harvest. After bagging these aromatic jewels, we hustle back and toss them into the brew kettles within four hours of picking. Our reward: a pale ale with a uniquely bright citrus punch and fall spice. It’s something only Deschutes would take past the idle-talk stage.

Work took me to the western suburbs of London. My colleagues took me to a pub in Church Crookham, called The Forester. It had sort of an upscale loggin theme, if that's possible. Anyway, I tried a local ale called Resolute Bitter. It was really tasty. I also had a lager called Holston's that was nothing to write home (or CA) about.

I've tried it, one of my more favored TFs, Dave. I just don't seem to be a fan of almost any IPA, they almost all taste like pine to me. Sucks, because almost everyone here seems to dig them. I am much more a stout and porter guy I guess.
