I've been doing that for some time now also.
I also have discovered the keys to succeeding at failure.

I also have been known to justify 1 bottle = 1 beer regardless of size, but then since a 750 is ok then that means I can have 2 12oz and that is less than 750ml so most nights I am under my limit :D

Tony, I'd be interested in your thoughts on the Hoptimum. I had a bottle this weekend and was disappointed. It did have a nice, juicy hop character but was more grapefruity than I anticipated and not as balanced. I think Torpedo is a better beer. YMMV

Last night I tried the Hoptimum. I paired it with a Bespoke cigar that I got from generous friend Seth - landhoney.

I was also disappointed with the Hoptimum. Not sure how to describe it, but it was a little thin on the palate. Just did not have the flavor profile I was expecting. The cigar was enjoyable though.
Glad I have some more Hopslam. :tu

Bell's Two HEarted last night. I really like it, but my buddy brought over some home brew of his, and it blew the Bell's out of the water. Same hoppiness, but more fruit. More balanced on the palate. Wish he had more.

Question: Has anyone tried Bell's 10,000 Commemorative Ale? Never heard of it until last night when I went to pick up some hopslam (They were out :( )

I have two bottle of the 10000. Bells was releasing a commemorative brew for every 1000th batch they produced. This is the last one in that series.

From their website:

The last of a series, Batch 10,000 Ale looks back to our roots, symbolizing the end of the home-brewing season with a creative take on "cleaning out the brewing supplies closet". After combing through the catalogs of many malt and hop suppliers, our brewers used over 100 different malts, grains, and other fermentables, and followed them up with a blend of 60 different hop varietals between the kettle additions and dry-hopping. The resulting beer presents a deep, chocolate brown hue and offers roasted and caramel notes from the malts mixed with an assertive hop character. Sharply bitter, the beer possesses a full mouthfeel without being heavy and will withstand aging in your cellar.

Alcohol by Volume: 9.2%
Original Gravity: 1.086
Shelf Life: Unlimited

Getting ready for the game having a Founders Centennial IPA.

When my buddies get here for the game, we'll dive into a growler of Great Divide Hades Ale, a 7.8% Belgian style pale ale. I was intruiged by it's citrus background.

I was bummed there was no Hopslam on the shelf. The beer guy at my store said they couldn't get it. :td

I believe it is a brewery exclusive. They said it was only brewed 3 times. Once at each of the 3 breweries. I'm not sure exactly how much was made.

Saison du Buff:

For me, this weekend consisted of:

Troeg's Nugget Nectar
My first Hopslam :noon thanks to Tony :tu
Bell's Batch 10,000
Some DIPA homebrew
Some Belgian Pale Ale homebrew
And my very last Bohemian Pilsner homebrew which is probably the suckiest beer I've ever made--glad it's finally gone!

I put a Founders Imperial Stout in the frig for last night's game, but didn't drink it. Later this week....

agreed on the Creme Brulee...excellent, but I couldn't do much more than an 8oz. pour at a time. I'm the same way even with the Choklat (OK, maybe 12oz. there).

A growler of Creme' would last me a lot longer than most, but that isn't to say I wouldn't love to have one :)

I am enjoying the best kind of beer... Free Schlafly!
I have a friend of a freind who is the Industrial Engineer for Schlafly's Bottleworks.
Long story short is that I am a home brewer, I need bottles, and they discard their partial fills. I am now the person who gets them!
Most are only just short of a normal fill. Some are OVERFILLS. Worst case is half full. All the beer is perfect regardless of fill.
Today I scored 3 cases of assorted Kolsch, Pale Ale, APA, and Irish Extra Stout!

Somehow those old stocks made it to Vermont too. I just can't pull the trigger with the price of them.

Enjoyed some smuttynose IPA tonight

For the first time, I sought out Troeg's Nugget Nectar...and I'm glad I did. A fantastic brew. Now I have to find time tomorrow to pick up some more before it's sold out!

Got the Hopslam clone fermenting away right now and it smells great so far! Thanks for the "yeast sample" to make this, will keep you updated on its progress!

And just a general note about Lagunitas, they are VERY underated. I actually really like most of their beers.

What he said, never had a bad one from them.

Had the Dogfishhead My Antonia last night, Imperial Pilsner. Quite tasty actually ... it was gone far too soon. I'm going to have to pick up some more today.

2009 Anchor Merry Christmas. Found a single bottle, so I said what the heck I'll grab one. The nose is gingerbread cookies, no lie.

Just finished a Black Sheep Riggwelter yorkshire ale. Great subtle coffee flavor without being overpowering.

Drinking a Bruery Hottenroth Berliner Weisse. Not bad, but not one of the best of this style.

Dogfish World Wide Stout. Always great.

A place in over in Hudson had some when I picked up a bottle of B!tches Brew, but I hesitated at the price and passed it up. I'm understanding now that it's worth it. Still haven't cracked our B Brew yet, though.
