Stom King is just not a beer I enjoy. I've tried several, bought a 6 pack once on the recommendation of other beer enthusiasts, but that one is just lost on me. If others enjoy it, and obviously many do, more power to them. But there are SO many great stouts available that I choose to buy others.

I cannot disagree with you Warren, I don't think I will be buying this again...unless I am in the mood for a Porter and the store is all out. :r

I agree with the Storm King, to me it was burnt malt and alcohol. I have two set back to try a year from now but after the first few it left me wondering why it used to be ranked the number 1 beer at BA

Damn I don't mind the storm king at all, I guess though if I was on a budget and wanted something more imperial stout tasting I'd go for an Avery The Czar. For $8 a bomber it's quite a good brew.
I don't follow BA, Ratebeer seems to be the way to go for me at least. I don't post there or anything just look up beers.

Join Sierra Nevada in celebrating 30 years of craft beer history!
On November 15, 1980 the first batch of Sierra Nevada beer made it through the brewhouse, helping to usher-in a new era of interesting, hand-crafted, and flavorful beer enjoyed around the world today.
Come and celebrate this American craft beer renaissance at the Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Party in our very own estate-hops field.
The party kicks off at 4 pm with sampling of 30 beers including some of your favorites from the last 30 years, plus a few unique finds from the cellar. Many of these beers never have been, and never will be, released to the public - this may be your only chance to sample them! They are available in limited quantities, so arrive early to ensure that you get to taste the ones you are most looking forward to. We will be posting the full beer list in the coming weeks.
http://sdbw.org/
San Diego Beer Week promotes San Diego's thriving craft beer culture by sponsoring a ten-day countywide festival that attracts beer tourism, fosters knowledge of our regional brewing heritage, and serves as a showcase for San Diego's breweries, restaurants, pubs, and other businesses with ties to the craft beer community.

No head, but there is evident carbonation when you drink it. Wouldn't expect much head at that ABV. Wow. Intense, and delicious. The brandy is VERY evident, but in a good way. Nutty, dark fruits, raisens. Not overly sweet to me, not cloying at all. Absolutely no hop character at all.
If I could afford it this would be a staple.

I'm drinking Surly Cynic Ale tonight. I'm on my second. I've had this several times before, but these ones are really shining. They were canned only last week, so I'm guessing the freshness is making a difference. They seem much more triple-ish than others I've had in the past.

The few you listed are some of their better brews, I'm an Imperial stout whore if anything I would try that. If it isn't a winner in your eyes the rest of their lineup probably not that great. What's the pricing like? That would be the deal breaker for me.

Carolina Blonde ... YES THE BEER. Brewed in Mooresville, NC, this brewery is primarily regional in NC, SC, parts of VA, and TN. Their flagship beer is the Carolina Blonde, but they offer some excellent IPAs and many seasonal beers. Their Irish Red Ale is fantastic as is the Carolina Strawberry Ale. I've spent a many Saturday afternoon at the brewery where they do tastings and have live accoustic music. If you get to the Charlotte/Mooresville, NC area....do stop. It'll be worth your while.

I had 3 buddies over to brew beer today, and had a bit of a beer tasting as well. Nothing "major," but all good solid brews: Surly Cynic Ale, Deschutes Mirror Pond, Houblon Chouffe IPA, Deschutes Black Butte, my homebrew dunkelweizen (really good if I do say so myself), Southern Tier Pumking, and Founders KBS. Plenty of good cheeses, veggies and fruits too. It was a fun day.
