Because Kate Hudson is a FOX!
Black Dynamite.....I am torn. Early reviewers hated it, later reviewers loved it. I liked it a lot, but found it's wandering
style in the end a bit too much. Great spoof though, better than "Sucka", didn't see the other movie it was compared
to, Undercover Brother. I liked one part in particular, where one of the characters memorized his lines with the
direction notes, "(Sarcastically) 'I'm in Charge!"" and "(Militants turned startled) "This is Private"".

The Hunger Games. I read the book, my wife did not and we both enjoyed the movie.
However we both had the same complaint -- the direction and cinematography, left something to be desired. The picture bounces around a lot, with fast jerky motion and out-of-focus shots and this really detracted from the whole experience. Particularly a the beginning where you are trying to pick up the backstory.

I watched a cute little British import last night called Foster....It's a funny little pic, light and airy with
a pitch-perfect little kid in the lead who is very much too formal for his age, and super clever. He
comes into the lives of a childless couple from a foster home and it's a crack up. The ending is a little
sugary, but at least you can watch it with your family. The only curse word in the show is $hi+ and even
then it is one of those slip outs, where the person slaps their hand over their mouth. My mother is always
complaining about the vulgarity in movies. This is one for her, and maybe you, too.

My goodness how lucky I got last night. I watched "The In-Betweeners Movie".
This one is non-stop laughing all the way, at times laughing at length and out loud.
Granted, all movies can't be this good, but I wish they were.
Some movies have to be serious, some scary, etc. But once you watch this near-perfect film,
you will be glad you did. I can't recommend it highly enough.
For those unfamiliar, this is apparently a hit program in the UK. Naturally they would make
a movie to squeeze more cash out of the franchise. This is not one of those instances where
they did it poorly and didn't care, as long as tickets sold. I hate to keep on stroking it, but
it's really that good. That $hi+ is getting harder and harder to find nowadays.

:tpd: My very first DVD and I also dislike the sequels!!!
I started to watch PROJECT X last night and the DVD locked up on me, so I switched to the WORST movie ever made.
NO it's not what you think, this is a new title holder. PINCHING PENNY. The director set out to ape a Guy Ritchie film,
which right off tells you it's going to be bad. But you have kids from N. Dakota and other midwest states putting on accents
from England and Scotland. The editing is bad, the shooting is bad, the dialogue is bad, the story is worse than all of it.
The acting is, well like the whole movie, student film grade. I sought out a surgeon to attach another arm to my back
so I could give this one THREE thumbs down. :td :td :td

Project X was entertaining in more ways than 21 Jump St. And call me old, but EVEN THOUGH it is only a
movie, I do not like to see people coming in as guests and trashing someone's place. I guess alcohol can turn
a regular kid into a freaking dumba$$ demon anyway, but yikes what a show. Worth watching once just to

last night I had a re-watch of something I saw in the theater over Christmas, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL.
Not sure how people generally feel about these Tom Cruise Productions, you either love him or hate him. This to me was the
film that made the series stand out. Of course I didn't see the second one, because I was not too fond of the first one.
There were times in Ghost Protocol that I thought I was watching a Bond film, the music and camera shots were SO STOLEN.

I get what you're saying, but don't say NONE, Brad. Star Wars, The Godfather, The Godfather II, American Graffiti, 2001, Shaft, and many others come to mind.:tu
I agree with you that typical 70s p*rn music didn't fit in with a lot of action flicks though.

I really liked this movie but there is one thing I did not understand -- his daughter kept repeating the line "you're such a loser dad" in her song. At the time and in that context it did not make sense to me...
My wife didn't get it either. I think it had to do with her hearing the media reports non-stop. Even though she kept calling him a loser, it was still a positive song. I'll have to rewatch to go back and check that. The whole father/daughter part was the least favorite aspect of the film for me.
Hmmm I think I saw that on Netflix but thought it would have subtitles so I passed. If it is in English I will watch it!

You should check out the Swedish version - it was cool to see the differences in the 2 movies.
I think the Swedish versions were very good and worth watching. If you have read the books recently then the subtitles won't be much of an issue.

:tu Very true to the book, with just some minor changes and a few omissions
Watched a weird one last night. All Japanese and Taiwan Aboriginal language, no subtitles.
It was pretty awesome for the first 45 minutes, and then the character development began
and people started talking about their feelings. Had to FF through it to get to something
I could get through context....Warriors of the Rainbow. (The Japanese subjugation of
Taiwan and the bloody aboriginal reaction to their tactics). If you read the Wiki entry for
"Wushe Incident" you have the plot in a nutshell. So I undertook the view. Like I said,
until people started having emotional conflict and deep convo, I was pretty impressed
with myself.
I am not going to dislike Haywire. I am going to consider it a Cynthia Rothrock-type movie and enjoy it for what it is.
Maybe, I don't know, hell.

21 -- Much potential, but mostly a bust.
Lockout....Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace. BOTH actors improved their stock in this one.
If you watched LOST, you know Maggie Grace as the hot, spoiled blonde who get's it in
the stomach with a knife I think. Not sure if her brother fell and died first or after her.
She was 2 dimensional in LOST, here, she stills shows some lack of skill, but she carries
her part well enough.
Guy Pearce, who almost everyone loved in Memento, proves he may well be the next
John McClain-prototype...plenty of wise cracks that while they were not that well-written,
were certainly well-delivered. He really makes this movie special. Other than that it could
be Saturday night fare on SciFi Channel. One particularly annoying feature was the constant
location referencing...."White House...Washington, D.C." then over to "M-1 Maximum Security
Space Prison". I swear, EVERYTIME they went back to that location, which was half the film
or better, they CGed the location, it was hilarious. I fully expected "Broom Closet, M1 Maximum
Security Space Prison."
OK, I'd like to semi-jack this thread and ask "What did everyone have a problem with Haywire about?"
I watched it last night and liked about 92% of what I was seeing. It meandered a bit near the end but
righted the ship. Woman looked good, hand to hand fighting was sprinkled liberally, but not anything drawn out
and frankly the fight choreography was pretty entertaining and believable. The story was a cliche', sure,
but it was not embarassing. I have seen nothing but thumbs down on this one...:sh....I give it a :tu

Interview with a vampire
Shane, I can recall when my roomate was working a security detail at Destrehan Plantation where they were shooting a
lot of scenes for Interview with the Vampire. He was on overnight security and we took a lot of photos on the set.
If you recall the scene where Brad Pitt flies into Tom Cruise and slams him into a big oak tree and ol Tom just laughs
at him...it was right after he turned him. That tree had been covered with a big batt of foam rubber and painted
to match the bark. We took some photos holding each other up against that tree. I need to find those pics...
The place where they burned down the first house was there, as was that whole scene when he is pondering being fully
turned and after he is turned, but before they moved to the Quarter. (Although the exterior from the first scene of the
film on the levee was filmed upriver at Oak Alley...supposed to be the same house, but it isn't.) Good times, I was sure
a lot younger then.

I agree that it is a lot better that I thought it would be...I was thinking it was a bio-pic, turns out it's just
a long form Stooges reel split into 3-4 "shorts". But while I do think that each of the players has a few of
the main sayings/mannerisms of their stooge down, I think Larry's actor Sean Hayes slips a lot, when he
is good, HE'S FREAKING FANTASTIC, and when he slips, he's so-so.
It's funny to hear the Moe actor say "Spread OUT..."

The storyline was a little blah, But I really liked it and will watch it again tonight.
I think Carano was believable in the part she played. As far as her acting? Hell it was her first 'real" acting job and like I said. She was believable and made the fight scenes look more real than any other girl that I've seen in fight scenes.
