Just Go With It. Fairly standard Sandler fare. And pretty predictable. But, I laughed quite a bit. Nothing of substance, but funny. And, even if you don't find it funny, Brooklyn Decker and Jen Aniston in bikinis will make it worth your while.

Planet of the Apes. Better than I expected. Heston's 'damned dirty apes' line revisited made me cringe, however.

Sucker Punch --- ehhh, good execution, kinda messed me up at first and for 25 minutes til I figured out
what I THOUGHT might be going on. Nice effects, odd parallels to several other movies, good stuff on balance.

Cars 2 --- Never really saw all of the first one, but that is not required. Laughed out loud a few times,
but more for kids than your usual Pixar fare. Pretty GOOD, but oddly unappealing.

I thought the imagining stuff (sucker punch)was a real look into how sophisticated greenscreen and CGI have
gotten of late, and of course, TinTin is a showcase for human realism, even cartoon human realism. Both good
examples of how you can do it and still not come off just looking like a cheap mishmash of points and polygons.
There were a couple of spots in Sucker Punch where I thought they really let themselves go in terms of character
replacement, with CGI doubles not well integrated. But on the whole it really looked moody and real and dirty and good.

RED STATE - All I can say is thank God for Kevin Smith. He seems to be one of the only
Producer-Directors that is willing to tackle certain touchy issues as they are in America.

Aw, Mickey, you're killing me....YES J&SBSB was silly, but loads of fun. Z&MMAP was one of the best movies
I have seen lately, I mean you just don't GET THAT from other directors. It's a under-utilized section of the
made up, silly story genre. They take a subject no one wants to admit they enjoy or have dabbled in, and
they make a complete mainstream movie out of it...a good one, too.

The movie Red State is more like a cross between 8% Dogma and 30% Coen Brothers and 30% I Spit on Your
Grave and 32% The Usual Suspects.....is that 100%?? I am not good with numbers. I really liked it. The last 20
minutes alone are worth the price of admission.

Conan the Barbarian......Interesting, gory, not a Ah-nold movie, but still just a bit too Hollywood for my taste.
You have the classics of action adventure. Child forced to watch a gruesome event who vows revenge, girl tied
to the railroad tracks. Many obstacles involved in saving the girl, great villain. That's the tedium.

However, there are two or three moments in this movie, little 8-10 second gags that are absolutely priceless.
They will make you wake up and take notice. The whole while you are watching the movie, you are thinking
"Someone wishes they were Steven Spielberg (Indy Jones)....And when the gags hit, you think, well maybe they ARE.

A LITTLE heavy on the useless sword twirling that I guess is designed to make the hero look extremely strong.
I also liked that Conan rarely engages in swordplay. The people he encounters raise their sword to counter the
mighty blow and he just stabs the in the gut and eviscerates them. It's hilarious. I give it about a 70

Now wait, I have enjoyed ALL of Smith's movies, including Jersey Girl....I just thought JASBSB was pretty retarded....fun, but retarded....and ZAMMAP was Kevin Smith trying to be Judd Apostle imo ......I will say both of those movies were 10x's better than Cop Out though.

I watched "Double", a Richard Gere spy movie. It was really good, but kinda crumbled at the end. Ya know how sometimes there are pivotal lines that make all the difference, and they inevitably whisper or mumble them? This was one of them.

I saw "Kill The Irishman", too. I loved it. It was a gangster, bomb, "you gotta love this bad guy" movie. The acting, casting and camerawork was brilliant. It came off with a real early 70's feel without the early 70's suck.
One of the best movie efforts I have seen for a long, long time. I totally appreciated the talent of everyone involved, they truly put together something to be proud of despite an overdone, worn out storyline.

I thought this was a kids movie. I couldn't believe when I watched it. It was entertaining, I just can't stand Cage anymore.

That's coming up on my Netflix queue,

Today was Downfall, it was on my queue, but my professor told me yesterday that I could watch it and do a write-up for extra credit, really good. It is in German, and English subtitled, but definitely worth it, about Hitler's last 12 days alive, and the fall of Berlin, what was going on inside the Nazi party as it was crumbling to pieces. Written from the first-hand account of Hitler's personal stenographer, so considerably accurate.

I love that movie, even after the major special effects flaws where pointed out to me. They computer generated all the burnouts and some are really fake looking and I believe they come from the wrong axles sometimes if I remember correctly. I love the movie though, didn't mean to bash it.

Hootie I was not impressed with The Thing, but I found the old 80s version lacking, too, so maybe I just do not like
the premise. I saw something weird yesterday. I never got to see Black Dynamite, but I DID see the trailer live
in a theater one night, and thought, 'how brilliant'. So I have a copy of it on tap for a day to come soon, but in
my waiting period, I went to IMDB to check it out a bit. The latest pages of reviews were all gushing about it,
how it was a brilliant execution of a brilliant idea. So out of curiousity, I went to the first series of reviews and they
just eviscerated it, ironically for all the same reasons it was being praised a few years later on. I thought that was
funny. I think the first reviewers might have been offended by it and only realized it was a spoof much later if at all.
They seemed a little dim.

Expendables (Netflix streaming)

One of the most disappointing movies I've seen in a long time. Had there been no names in it, maybe it would have been watchable just for the escapist fights and explosions. But, cmon. There was so much opportunity to mine the expectations of these guys. Huge waste of time.
