Trespass (2011) with Nick Cage.....sucked! Nick Cage lost the ability to act 10 years ago, and nobody else in this movie could act a lick either.
13 (2010) Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Michael, Alexander Skarsgård.... great cast, held my interest. 7 outta 10.

Unusual Supects.
Last night I watched Crazy Stupid Love. I liked it. I am growing weary of Julianne Moore...always liked her,
just growing tired of seeing her in movies. Steve Carell continues to pull off the semi-serious leading man roles.
There is nothing bad you can say about Emma Stone, at least that I'd agree with, except that she is not
lying next to me nightly. This movie gets so twisted at the end as to be one of the great "love" dramedys of
all time. Well done.

We put in Watchmen Director's Cut on Blu-Ray the other night. Got about an hour and a half in (not even the halfway point) and we were both asleep on the couch. That's not a comment on the movie, we both love it, we were just both exhausted and it's a loooooong movie.

DiCaprio is going to be remembered as one of the greatest actors of his generation. I haven't seen all of his movies, but that kid can act the **** out of movie roles.
I dig movies where you are forced to keep track of whats going on, or you are just lost (Primer takes this to such a level, I think it may take 2 more viewings to understand it all).
Some of the plot devices in Inception were a little strange, like how they come back up levels in dreams, and the whole 'heading into limbo' thing was a bit weird, and using the Defib machine after it appeared the guy was dead for a while was a stretch. But the suspension of disbelief is a pre-req for movies like this.
I liked it, but not for the special effects, or even the plot of story. I liked it more for the depiction of his emotions in regards to his kids and wife. It reminded me of Jacobs Ladder and Romeo Is Bleeding in that respect. Movies that can evoke a real emotional response from me are my favorites.
DiCaprio has moved right up there as one of my favorite actors along with Gary Oldman and Harvey Keitel.
Watched The Debt with Helen Mirren last night. Remind me a bit of Munich.

Tarantino was supposed to release both movies on one disc, but I haven't heard anything about this, I have held off on buying either one because of this statement, oh well.
Live and Die in L.A. -- Cannot for the life of me see what I enjoyed about this one so many years ago. Awful
There Will Be Blood -- Great 70 minute movie. Unfortunately it was followed by a far less great 60 minute movie. Loved it as a period piece about oil and greed and the frontier. Hated it as a psycho-dramatization of a mental tailspin.

Saw the new Sherlock Holmes on Friday with the girlfriend. It was a hoot, and the trailer for John Carter... all I can say is, thank goodness I'm not a true fan of the books, 'cause it looks awesome and I'm glad I can't ruin it for myself. :)

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo -- excellent! I enjoyed the original swedish movies and was wondering if this new one would be better and I was not disappointed. Looking forward to the sequels.

hahaha, I thought I was the only one......SO MANY people kind of were already down on Mel Gibson
by the time this one came out, and this movie got very little hang time in the residual conscienceness.
I LOVE this film. :tu

A lot of what i like about it is the EPOCH itself, I am fascinated by the civilization/time in American
continental culture. And then there's the fact that it is much more about what is happening onscreen....
there WILL BE subtitles here and there, but you are encouraged to just get into the film as a spectator,
and not as much a person who has to read to keep up with the plot. I guess i will watch it tonight just
to get a fix. It's really intense, lol.

I actually prefer subtitles, so that doesn't bother me at all.
Tonight I went and seen THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO
Loved it!

Oh I was not deriding subtitles, just that the film is really good at just featuring action onscreen that requires
no subtitles to be clearly understood....a lot of the time, anyway.

Last Man Standing - Lots of promise...Bruce Willis, gangsters, good gritty 'old' west feel, decent dialog......but went for the spectacularly violent instead of developing story and characters

I just watched Red, White and Blue for the twelfth time.
I think the Australian actor Noah Taylor is a rare gem in the acting world. He was wonderful in Shine, He Died With A Falafel In His hand and Red, White and Blue. It’s a wonderful blood drenched romance.
I saw a few movies on a flight:
Cowboys and Aliens - not as bad as the title sounds, but not good
30 Minutes or Less - I hate to say it but the Danny McBride / Kenny Powers act might be getting old.
The only English speaking channel in the hotel had Lethal Weapon 2 and that's just fine with me.

Real Steel
Watched a funny one last night, painfully so, but still entertaining. Division III with Andy Dick.
Andy Dick is a really acquired taste, but he does characters pretty good and he plays this one further
than any one I can remember. Just an uncomfortable laugh riot. Really smacks of low budget, but the
editing tries to bring the average up a bit. I suggest picking it up and giving it a spin. Not terrible, and VERY
different. IT IS a football comedy, though, and football as you know is tough to shoot for the big screen.
It parallels "the Waterboy" but doesn't try to BE The Waterboy.
One of the great little scenes in the film is kind of a throwaway, a guy has this hot wife, and she whips up
a snack, looks like pigs in a blanket. She serves them and Andy Dick says "ew, they're frozen." And the
guy says "Honey, I told them you got to heat those up." And she says, 'it SAYS they're pre-cooked'.
And he replies "That's not what that means". :lr

Anytime Olivia Wilde crawls out of a LAKE in a cotton DRESS and you DON'T have ANYTHING to
show for it, you can take that movie and 'chuck it in the bin' as my friend D. Generate might say.

Do it, Do it, Do it!! I didn't see the original, but David Fincher is one of my fav directors and he doesn't disappoint.
