Beth and I had a good weekend overall, worked a half day on Saturday; relaxed out back for the afternoon and then yesterday we went for a ride and walked down at the Newburgh riverfront. We had a great weekend overall: West Point Graduation went off without a hitch (I actually got to drive in the convoy - press corps); smoke a couple of top shelf stogies; found a new brewery in Sugarloaf, NY yesterday; finished up the weekend in Newburgh at the waterfront and a stop at the brewery. Ordered a new man cave for the backyard yesterday, replacing the old 8' x 12' shed (been there for probably 20+ years) with a new 10' x 16' model from Stoltzfus Structures, LLC (Amish built out of PA): https://www.mysheds.com/

Good morning all, the coffee is on and it's Friday! We had a good time at Schlesinger's last night as a number of the regulars were there enjoying cigars and a couple of drinks. We have a BBQ planned for today at work to around 1200 (noon). All the folks that have been working non-stop in the EOC said it was time to fire up the grill, so were having a pot luck luncheon. We're having hot dogs, hamburgers, kielbasa, ribs, venison steaks, rice and beans, potato and macaroni salads, deserts of all sorts, etc. We'll have 25+ attending and I'm sure that guests will show up as we have plenty of food. Sports wise this weekend, the NASCAR drivers are in Talladega, AL which is always a fun race to watch as it's the largest track on the circuit. Good morning everyone, the coffee is on as always and it's back to work Monday after a relaxing weekend filled with BBQ, cigars and adult beverages. The 4th of July was very different this year, no parades or fireworks except for the surrounding neighbors that lit of bottle rockets and stuff. Yesterday, I found out a dear friend passed away yesterday loosing her battle with cancer. Irma was a big supporter year after year of our Quad State Herf and she will be deeply missed. Until we meet again sister, keep those cigars burning in heaven. Enjoy all....... :)

My son Jeremy and his wife Christen had their second daughter born Saturday evening. Our new granddaughter Vivian Elyse Baranyai. Born at 8:41 pm. She is 6lbs 13oz, 20in. Mommy and baby are both doing well. Yesterday, Beth and I hit a couple of microbreweries as things are opening back up which is good. Good morning everyone, the coffee has been on since 0400 as I couldn't sleep any longer. Today is day 3 of the Class of 2024 arriving at West Point (1240 new cadets). The class was divided into three groups with the first group arrived Sunday and so forth. Each one of them is tested for COVID-19 upon arrival utilizing the new GEN-X testing system that gives you a result in one hour. They'll be receiving all their clothing and equipment this week and start the 4 year West Point experience immediately. Have a great day all and be safe out there...... :banger

Beth and I had another great weekend: Saturday was spend at the cigar shop with the fellas until early afternoon; chicken wings on the grill that evening; yesterday we went to one of our nieces graduation party / prepping to head off to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT); and then finished off the weekend watching NASCAR relaxing at home. A big congrats to the Yankees for sweeping the Red Sox as Aaron Judge is on a tear hitting homers in all three games. I've got to head into West Point shortly for a day of meetings and activities as we are now two weeks away from the Army / Navy game. We've been planning this now since early October when the announcement came out that the game will be played here at West Point rather than in Philadelphia (the city of Philly said no fans allowed to include West Point Cadets or Navy Midshipman). It's going to take 175 buses to bring the Midshipman up from Annapolis to West Point in convoys of 50 buses per. Once they arrive, all the fun begins from unloading the Middies to parking the buses and prepping them for return. We have to feed them on arrival and have box meals for their return home as well. Everyone thinks it's all fun and games until the logistics of it all comes into play. Anyway, enjoy the weekend everyone and smoke a favorite or two if you get the chance...... :ss

Beth and I are putting up the Christmas Tree tonight which will make the house completely transformed from the Fall to the holiday season. We have a busy Saturday and Sunday coming up as it's the only off weekend we have before Christmas. Saturday, Beth and I have a number of shops to hit and Sunday we have some friends coming over for a lasagna dinner. Four to five hundred Cadets are returning daily from their winter break with all 4000+ being COVID-19 tested prior to going back to the dorm rooms. The entire Corps should be back by this weekend, online classes for two weeks and then in-classes start the beginning of February. Before we know it, graduation will be upon us and all. Good morning everyone, the coffee is on and it's back to work Monday (tele-working as it's Code Red until noon tomorrow). We had a relaxing weekend, friends came over Saturday for brunch and a few drinks while we watched the beginning of the Rolex 24 live from Daytona. Weather wise, we are in a "Winter Storm Warning" according to NOAA. They are calling for a total daytime snow accumulation today of 10 to 16 inches with 3 to 5 inches tonight. It should end early tomorrow with less than one inch in total:

So far, we got roughly 24" and I'll be going out shortly to clean off the vehicles and clear the walk and driveway for the third time. Code Red at West Point has been extended thru 1900 (7 pm) tonight which will keep all the drivers off the road and give the DPW crews more time to clean things up. Tonight is the first NASCAR race of the season, the Busch Clash at Daytona. It's a short one, only 126.35 miles and it will be raced on the Daytona Road Course. This weekend, we have NASCAR racing at Daytona starting tonight with the Camping World truck race and ending with the Daytona 500 on Sunday. It's the biggest race weekend of the year in my opinion and kicks off the season for all to enjoy. Sunday is also Valentine's Day fellas, don't forget to get your sweetheart something special or you'll be in the dog house for sure. As a result of the freezing rain and sleet, West Point has been Code Red since 1700 (5 pm) last night through noon today. Our driveway is an ice skating rink but the temps will rise shortly above freezing once the sun comes out. Anyway, we had a relaxing weekend overall: spent Saturday with the fellas at Aroma Cigar Room in Monroe, NY; Beth and I watched NASCAR racing all weekend and relaxed at home. There will be a corned beef and cabbage dinner served at the Post Home on Sunday, March 14, 2021. The dinner begins at 1PM and lasts until the food is gone. $5 per plate at the door

The Legion had a great St. Patrick's Day celebration and the reuben sandwiches were spot on. The Irish dancers were a big hit and the bag piper was the frosting on the cake.
