Fast 6 - You may be able to suspend any concept of reality during the car chase with a tank.....however, the last big scene where the Russian Cargo Plane is careening down or just above a runway for what seems like half an hour was over-the-top enough for me to roll my eyes into the back of my head and stop 'just enjoying' it.

The only question I have about this movie is:

How much is Gina Carano in it?

Moneyball - Good movie. Entertaining and told true story pretty well. ......... However, I guess I was expecting more of a convincing argument for sabermetrics. There were a couple of nods to Bill James. But, mostly I felt that the single season of data, or the managing by Howe (good and/or bad) were more than enough to dilute the stats 'message' or 'lesson'.

I watched Fast 6 as well and really enjoyed it; just as all action films I accept them for what they are “movies”. There will always be an over exaggerated part. Take "Gone in 60 Seconds" with Nicholas Cage and the ramp off the tow truck over the accident; far fetched, but still a great movie.

Plenty of screen time - lots of fighting; probably a recurring role in the franchise -- not one of the 4 hottest women in the movie; however, more screen time than three of the others combined.

edited to correct may not be recurring...can't remember if she died or not...really....in fact, I'm not sure anyone really died...

This weekend the wife and I rented Cloud Atlas. We made it 45 minutes and shut it off. I was completely and utterly confused. A review I read on the web summed up my feelings exactly: "Its like watching TV with someone who changes the channels every 3 minutes for hours."

AdamJoshua

I didn't even make it 45, at about 30 minutes I had given up and started to do the dishes while letting it play on in the background.

I ended up watching The Man, Sam Jackson and Eugene Levy.

Great documentary, "Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic". Such a funny and troubled man, and the funniest part of my youth.I watched that last night too. Was very interesting. I did not know the whole story of how he set himself on fire and totally forgot its only bee 8 years since his passing.

I think my favorite bits he did was from "Live in Longbeach" which I think was '79. The bit about how his dad went to his wifes funeral, the deer hunting story, the story of him boxing and him with Ali in that charity fight had me ROFLMAO.

Richard in the middle of the whispering to Ali before they touched gloves - "You know this is a charity fight right?"

Ali mouths back but does not say out loud, just with his lips - "Ima kill you N word" and Richard reaction lmao!!!

When he had his heart attack and every time you go to the dr or hospital to always bring your pee with you.

Ahh he was amazin!

Speaking of "Flight of..." movies, I just caught "Flight of the Navigator" for the first time since my childhood. For a Disney movie with kid's simplicity, it's a really cool concept that is executed well for its time.

Then again, that could all be nostalgia talking. I broke the VHS cassette of FotN when I was a kid from how often I watched it. Also stars a really young Sarah Jessica Parker.

Jessica Chastain :dr x 1,000
Between that, and Zero Dark Thirty, I'm in love with her. You can keep Mila, I'll take her!

Watched the following today:

Springbreakers - Completely awful. Don't waste your time. Thought it was going to suck, but this blew. It's a bigger stretch to call this a movie, than to call Full Metal Jacket a ****o.

Temptation (New Tyler Perry movie) - See above. Awful. Such a joke.

Dead Man Down (Colin Farrell movie) - Thought it was going to suck, not bad actually.

Sensing Saturday evening cabin fever approaching, on a lark I took the wife to see World War Z. Interesting spin on the ol' zombie apocalypse. A lot of action smartly done with less close ups of raw meat chewing and more about how Brad Pitt tries to save the world.

Don't get me wrong, I would still advise against letting your woman hold the soda. A well done flick !

The Purge. Pretty stupid, as I find most newer horror flicks. It had a great premise that it did absolutely nothing with, and the lead kids were some of the dumber ones I've seen in a movie in quite some time, even for a horror movie. Skip it.

Shooter

Never liked Marky Marky at all but at some point he slowly came around to being one of my favorite actors, he actually has range and surprising as it is, he has very good comic timing for the straight man in a duo. While The Other Guys had good moments, I found that Wahlberg really sold most of those comedic scenes. I'm looking forward to Two Guns where he reprises a role of the 'straight guy' who has the unintentional comedic lines. (if that makes sense .. but it does to me)

Yeah, he is. I IMDB'd him while watching and that was his second acting job ever. What a huge movie to land so early. Predictably, his career ended as abruptly.

I liked The Company Men a lot until the end, which I thought was a cop out.
