Theirs is a spiced wheat bock, so it's a little unusual. You might try Harpoon's Winter Warmer, Redhook's Winterhook, or Troeg's Mad Elf, which are just Christmas spiced beers. There may be some local examples near you, too, lots of craft breweries are jumping on that style.

Split a bottle of the Trader Joe's 2011 holiday ale with the wife last night. Good stuff, IMO. Dark ale, loads of Christmasy spice, almost like a gingerbread cookie. We both liked it a lot, and for $4.99/bottle, I think we'll be picking up a bunch more (especially since the store is across the street from us). :)

I agree. Green Flash is an excellent brewery. Their entire line is very good. But they've put a premium price on their beer.

Rather than buy at retail, I prefer to visit the brewery/tasting room. It's 2 miles from my home.

Fully agree on that. It's my favorite commercially available pils. Just that Prima Pils is hoppier than Pilsner Urquell (and probably less residual malt). Which is a good thing for some and others not so much.

The coffee is certainly present, but by no means overpowering. The beer is so well balanced that no one flavor takes over. The vanilla is great too. Also, I will say that the coffee that is there is not a bitter kind.. Its a smooth roasty profile.

Maybe. Coffee and chocolate are most likely all gone by now. There is a small window of time between 6-8 months that I think FBS drinks best. That's my taste though, and the past 3 years its been the same story. I've had a year old bottle that was still good, but you could tell it was on the down slope. Coffee stouts are finicky beers.. The only one that I hear that holds up to more than a year of age is Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee.

2012 Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Barleywine. Holy crap, not sure what these guys use but I'm sure its magic.

2012 Central Waters Peruvian Morning. Another home run by CW. This stuff is amazing fresh and is at par with Goose Island BC coffee stout.

I've got some Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Stout.. Amazing price for a 4 pack.. I have loved the few CW's beers I've had. Illumination blew me away.

La Roja is a great beer! Gran Reserva La Roja sounded great, too bad they only made 85 cases.

Had one about a month ago and thought it was excellent...still waiting for my local store to get some more in.

I was hoping for a little more sour, but yes it was good.

It's a good entry level sour. No cantillon that's for sure.
