Had an Anubis on cask with oak chips in the cask last night, tasted faintly like maple syrup (in a great way). Although certainly not on the same level, this was the closest tasting beer to CBS i've ever had. It was quite enjoyable :al
Also had a left handed smoke jumper and a sly fox nihilist, both very good. the smoke jumper tasted like I put my head in a smoker, supposedly it was "hand smoked by the brewers," whatever that means. very delicious if you like smokey beers

Picked-up a 6pk of Bear Republic "Racer 5" IPA today on a recommend by Doug (buddhadaddy)... Good stuff:tu
You can see the yeast in the bottom of the bottle. That's key for me. Good yeast flavor on the finish, chewy in some respects, and has the great taste of a good bottled homebrew IPA.

Founders All Day IPA. Man, I love this stuff. I found it during the World Cup. I'm not the best day drinker, so I was on the lookout for a session ale that I could drink a bunch of during the match and not have it wreck my evening. All Day IPA is 4.7% and 42 IBUs. Meaning, you can drink it all day and not get effed up. And, it's thirst-quenchingly delicious.

Drink what you like, like what you drink. On those occasions that I drink light beer I drink Old Milwaukee Light. If you like light beer and you've never tried it, give it a whirl. IMNSHO it's better than any of the "Big Name" light beers - Coors, Bud, Miller, etc. Just don't accidentally confuse it with Milwaukee's Best Light, as that's just nasty pi$$water. :D

I was misinformed about the beer. I thought it was just an aged dark ale. First taste let me know I was wrong. For a sour beer it may have been great if I knew what I was getting into. I switched it out for an IPA and it was much better.

Been drinking some Anchor California Lager of late. Pretty tasty for a lager...plenty of hops & a nice finish.
Of course, looking forward to the Octoberfest season which starts up in August.
Picked up a 6 pack of Wienstephaner the other day. Free State has a fair Octoberfest & they are Kansas brewer so will get it pretty fresh here. Shiner does a damn fine job with theirs, but haven't seen it in Kansas yet.
Too bad Magic Hat didn't offer one in my area last year as they had IMHO a great Hex Ourtoberfest the previous year. I personally kept my favorite liquor store moving several cases for the cause.

Innis and Gunn whisky barrel matured. Given to me by a friend. I have no idea what it cost, but the packaging looked fancy! Went very nicely with my Acadian meat pie (Superstore - fellow Canucks) - organic tomato, avo and aged balsamic.
The beer is gentler than Theaksons Old Peculiar, but the tart ale taste really reminded me of T.O.P.
Delish.
