What????? I sent exactly what I said I would, no need to go overboard! That Abrasive is damn good stuff. The can I drank yesterday was my first of the year and solidified it solidly behind Hopslam as my 2nd favorite Double IPA.

This past weekend my wife surprised me with a trip to Santa Rosa for my birthday (long, long car ride from us) to visit Russian River and have Pliny the Younger. It was amazing. I'm a big fan of Elder, but with all that extra grain Younger is so much more balanced of a beer. I really wish I could have taken some home, but they don't allow filling growlers of it anymore. Brought home a growler of Elder and a few bottles.

Got a tip while we were in Santa Rosa that the Whole Foods there has a tap room with Abyss on tap, so we made a side trip there. I've had Abyss in bottles from '07 to '11, and '11 on tap blew each of them away. I'm jealous of my friend who lives right by Deschutes.

On the way home we stopped off at Lagunitas and I brought home a growler of their Gnarly Wine (their growlers are actually 2 liter Ball mason jars, which is cool except the lids have a tendency of popping and leaking).

So it was an awesome trip and I ended up drinking and bringing home quite a few beers I don't normally get my hands on.

I know of a few guys that had some friends they know in Cali pour Younger in a swing top bottle saver. I guess they poured it straight from their glasses.

A couple years ago they would fill growlers of it, but they would also run out of Younger in almost no time at all. As far as filling it out of your glasses, I'm pretty sure you'd have to do that when no one's looking since that breaks a couple laws. Not to mention, they only serve Younger in 10 oz pours, so it would take a while.

Buy it and wait until 12/12/12 to drink it. that is the general Idea of the Vertical series. You kinda need a year before to compare with. This December will be the first year that I have 2 bottles to compare- a 2011 and 2010

Hell, buy 2 and drink one halfway through.

Yes I can tell you I had a small pour from a friends bottle, and I hated it. Tasted like bubblegum, spice, and chile with some hops. Not my thing at all. Pretty sure they brew 11.11.11 with chiles and lots of spices..

Had 2011 Firestone Walker Abacus aka sucaba earlier tonight as well. If Goose Island King Henry had a light version, this would be it. Still very good barrel aged barleywine, but not as much barrel notes and complexity that the King has. I keep forgeting that King was aged in Pappy 23 barrels, so that's the reason for it being better.

Just got back from an ice fishing trip to Chautauqua lake. It happens to be the home of Southern Tier brewing. Even better yet one of the brewers lives in the cottage next to ours. This led to a sweet VIP tour and alot of beer drinking. Drank quite a few 2x IPAs, 2x Stout, Gemini, Inequity, Chokolat Stout, Un Earthly, as well as Oak Aged Pumking which is not bottled and a experimental belgin ale. There are a lot of beers they just don't bottle. It's always a treat to go to the brew pub at 3F for fun beers. One of my favorite was a bourbon barrel Moloko.

The central waters bourbon barrel barleywine is great, it also ages well. The 2011 are really tasty, just wish I had put more away.

Had 2/3 of a sixer of Bell's Best Brown Ale last night. Damn good stuff!

Enjoyed a growler of Lips of Faith La Folie on Saturday. My wive can't tolerate the sour, so I had it all to myself. Drinking a growler of it takes some dedication.

Yeah, I've had many that were nice to have on a visit but didn't want more beyond that. But that Cimmerian Sabertooth Berzerker, like the Zombie Dust before it was put into bottling production, is something I hope they'd feel the same way about. I enjoyed the bb Moloko as well, it was much better than the standard Moloko. There's something magical happening in those barrel's.

Just got word a friend was able to pick me up two four packs of the Central Waterss BBB, looking forward to seeing how much will power I can muster for aging.

This year's SN Bigfoot. Very good!

I went to my usual liquor store last night to browse and pick up a six pack or two (left with four six packs and a BORIS the Crusher bomber, but I digress :)). For some reason, they had their Bigfoot six packs for 7.99 per six. Hmmm... too low. I took it to the register and asked the guy what price it scanned, 13.49. I let them know they had it marked wrong in the cooler. They appreciated the heads up and offered to sell it to me at cost, the cheapest they can by law (supposedly). Around $10. Not $8, but still a nice little discount. :tu

I started the weekend Friday night by cracking open my growler of Pliny the Elder. My wife picked up some Sierra Ruthless Rye on her way home so I had one of those as well, tasted great, I like the spicy character.

On Saturday we went to Yardhouse for my birthday and I ended up drinking their Belgian sampler (don't remember what all 6 beers were, but one was Lindemans Framboise, which I hated, tastes like raspberries dropped in champagne), Grand Teton B*tch Creek, Moylan's Kilt Lifter, and Speakeasy Double Daddy. After that we were over at my in-laws' place and I shared out my first homebrew, a pale ale.

Last years was pitched since they didn't think it turned out. I heard that year was bad for cherries since a few other breweries didn't bottle their cherry beers.

It's a small batch and could only get a 4 pack this morning. I will head back to see the manager tomorrow and see what I can get.

It's one of the beers by Dogfish Head that I miss since they pulled out of WI.

It doesn't even taste like a brown ale, it reminds me of a porter. The coffee and chocolate flavors are fantastic!

Palo Santo is an amazing Imperial Brown. I'd highly recommend that one if you're into bigger beers.

2010 Yeti on deck. These have smoothed out nicely. Only have 12oz bottles left. For some reason the bombers have tasted slightly better:confused:

This beer is still hoppy. Roasty coffee, nuts, chocolate notes. Yeti is a damn good stout.

Ahhh, you beat me to it! :r

Honestly, sometimes after mowing the lawn, nothing washes the taste of grass and pollen out my mouth better than chugging some High Life. Beats Anheuser Busch products...Or tap water (barely).

Found a couple bottles of Brooklyn Monster from '07. It's oxidized a bit, but still pretty good.
