Sorry Hugh, spending too much time coaching I suppose. Haven't even watched a Reds game in weeks. College football started, we are two games into our schedule, just don't care to watch the Reds every day when there are better sports to watch :sh

My Chippewas did lose to the Rockets, it wasn't a great performance in the second half, particularly the QB who threw 2 TD's to the other team. :bh

Last I checked, nothing that any fan did yesterday (or any day) helped win a baseball game, particularly ones watching from their home. I'm sorry, but any time some fan claims that "we won" or "No one can beat us", just isn't correct. We didn't win anything by being fans, the players won the game. Particularly when the only connection you have with the team is being a fan. College, Professional or otherwise, unless you are a part of the program in some capacity other than 'fan', you cannot include yourself as part of said team/university/college and claim 'we won'. :2

It is correct, just by a different definition. The team won the game, and the fans won the right to celebrate, so in essence, we won too.

Hmm, seems like all of us who pay taxes in Hamilton County Ohio (where the Reds and Bengals have their publicly-funded stadiums*), especially those of us who live here, can use the term "we" with great accuracy in reference to the very existence of the teams in their current venues, not to mention their performances good or bad.

If the sales tax increase levy had failed, perhaps the teams would have ponied up the money themsel...oh heck I can't keep my tongue in cheek long enough to finish that sentence. One or both teams likely would have left town...which to me wouldn't have mattered a whit.

But since the tax increase passed and they are still here, occasionally crying out for a more public dollars for upkeep by the way, I think it's fine to say 'We won' or 'We sucked today' as conditions dictate. Sort of like how some folks describe their relationships on Facebook, "It's complicated" between the Reds, Bengals, and those of us who keep them in business here.

* I think 'stadia' is the preferred plural for 'stadium' but it sounds uppity. I don't mind being thought of as pompous or arrogant, however I draw the line at uppity. :tu

:tu
Sorry, Brian. Your logic is somewhat flawed. By your argument, only locals can use we/us. If I live in Cincinnati but I am a fan of, say, the Atlanta Braves, am I permitted to refer to the Braves with the pronouns we and us?

Food for thought.

I pay said property taxes, and it is a pretty penny, but those property taxes do not, however, include me as part of either team.

Its like claiming that the Ben-Gals or Rosie Red helped win/lose a game. :2

Today, their pitching was phemomenal. Three mistakes cost them the game, Phillips, Hannigan and Rolen. :td

I certainly don't like the idea of their next two starting pitchers, but they haven't given up a lot of hits (let alone runs) even with the different pitchers they have put out there. If they score 5 runs tomorrow, they probably win the game/series.:2

I don't believe my logic is flawed. We taxpayers bore the brunt of construction costs for both the Reds' and Bengals' facilities. (What the Bengals paid towards their stadium was about the amount of overruns from the no-doubt-deliberately-understated projections. The Reds ownership did somewhat better percentagewise.)

As to the part about out-of-towners, I never said they couldn't also use "us", "we", etc. They just need to make that case for themselves... :)

Fuggin BS and a complete waste. The Giants didn't win a game this series until today. We lost game 3 and 4 on our own. Game 3 due to errors and game 4 due to Cueto. Giants won today where it counted, that douchebag Posey hit the GD Grandslam. I'm fired up and mad, so excuse the GD remark. I had to hit the vodka to take the sting away. Adam has it right b/c he doesn't set himself up for failure like Dan, Hugh, and I do. He always expects the worst which dictates that he can't be emotionally attached or upset when these things happen.

We won more games than any Reds team since the BRM, yet we lost in the first round. Good thing is that in 2010, the Phillies kicked our @sses. This year we kicked our own @sses. In a year or two no one will kick our @ss, not even ourselves. The national media kept hyping the second coming of the BRM, well the BRM lost playoff games before they won the whole F'n show. It will happen, and we're due. We haven't won a playoff series in 17 years, or a WS in 22 years. It's our time now (or soon to be).

No, I actually enjoy the radio guys (most of the time), the TV ones are the guys who try and convince you how great players like Stubbs are. The radio guys were very critical of the team, particularly Dusty during yesterdays game. Frazier has the potential to be a cleanup hitter, but I wouldn't start him out there next year. Hopefully no more Rolen after this year, maybe a miracle will happen and some poor club will actually want Ktubbs in the offseason.

From the sounds of it, hopefully Stubbs already has a foot out the door. They are reportedly having Hamilton play CF all fall/winter/next season. I surely hope his skill set tranfers better to the Big Show than the last over-hyped/under-performing CF/Leadoff hitter the Reds had.

If Ludwick can be had for around $5 mil., I think the Reds would be well suited to sign him up. :2

I liken most of Phillips 'Gold Glove-esque' plays to the 'Pro-Bowl' catches that C. Johnson (OchoCinco) used to make. He makes stuff look more flashy/difficult/cool/interesting than most middle infielders do. And lest we forget that most of us are Reds fans. Does he have above average range? Yes. Almost five hour game time sucked, but it was quite a battle. Choo looks like he will fit in nicely. I hear Ludwick will be out 6-8 weeks, but they haven't done the MRI yet.

I hope Heisey gets a decent amount of playing time. Dusty never plays him enough.

He was 'stuck' behind Stubbs and Ludwick last year, hopefully this extended stint shows that he is worth a start more often than once every other week. :tu

I'm not sold on Heisey, but I would like to see him get a chance finally. I wonder who's going to get called up.

Enjoy the game tonight, Dan. CJ Wilson vs. Latos in April? At least there's fireworks after the game. :)

It should be interesting. I am tired of this weather. I will definitely be wearing a winter coat since I lost most of my insulation :tu

Joey Votto drives in Drew St...errrr.... Shin Soo Choo! ;)

As an aside, you will note that the Reds former CF and leadoff batter has now been relegated to RF and batting 9th in the AL. :r

Tough one to lose today after bringing it back from a 4 run deficit in the last 2 innings. :sh

Have I told you how much of an upgrade Choo is?

Stubbs is 2-17 with 2 singles, 0 runs and 8 K's so far this season. :pu
Choo is batting .350 with a .500 OBP, 3 HR's and 7 runs scored in 5 games. :tu

Can't win 'em all. Didn't see the game last night, only the recap this morning. Looks like somebody lit up Arroyo in the sixth, eh?

Arroyo simply ran out of gas PDQ style. He was going along smoothly and the wheels fell off.

I hope Cueto's ok. Holding his tricep while walking off the mound.

Alfredo Simon got his 1st big league hit.
