Local B&M is virtually the only way to go - and you have to find a B&M that is an authorized Opus dealer than is selling product shipped from Fuente. Otherwise, B&M prices may be similar to online prices.
As a heads up to everyone... there is an Opus shipment that is hitting the shelves now. As I understand it, shipments are down to three times a year (used to be four). So, now may be the time to strike if you want to buy a box of Opus. And deep down, you know you do. :banger

They need a lot of down time. I used to feel the same as you and that was until I smoked an Opus that sat in my humi for at least three years. That stick was probably one of the best I had ever smoked. Soon after that I bought a good amount that got buried in the cabinet not to be seen again for 2 or more years. Fresh from th B&M or even less than a year I hate 'em believe it or not.

Two considerations:
1. A lot of people bash them for the price, or say that for the cost of an Opus X they could get a couple of sticks they enjoy more. That is partly because a lot of people don't pay MSRP for them. A local resorts sells the Perfexcion X for $80. How many cigars can you think of that are worth $80? But, for $12-$15, it is a whole different story.
2. As neoflex mentioned, they age well. Seems to me that a lot of people who have them young and don't like them really like them after they've had some age.

Gotta agree with the above on Opus. When I was first introduced to Opus last year, it's all I smoked, and searched for. Everyday...Opus, Opus Opus...until I got tired of them, and couldn't stand the flavor of another one. But the whole bottom double drawer of my humi was full of em...so they just sat for a year in there, without seeing the light of day. I began pulling one out here and there lately...and holy crap these are good. :tu

Just won my first Cbid auction....scored a box of Perdomo2 L.E. Epicure Maduro for $58.00+ $5.95 shipping
Not too bad of a price...over at the CI site, they are 106.00 for a box so feeling like I got a pretty good score. They had some of those Padilla Dominus Robustos that ended up only going for $61.00 (two boxes), I missed putting in a bid for those (I looked and they are 200.00 a box on CI) (Has anybody had Dominus, are they any good??, if so I will keep my eye out for the next time they are on the block!! )
That can be a terribly addictive website...Holy Cow!!
I will put up a pic when my P2's come in.

Very cool! I've always wondered how those things would smoke... I've never gotten the balls to buy a set because I have no idea what I'd do with more then one!

I remember reading somewhere online (can't remember where, I was searching one day about if anybody had ever smoked one) if memory serves me, he was smoking one of the champagne bottles and was into it for like 5 hours, totally sick of smoking it and ended up putting it down!! :r

They would be a cool collectors item...I would never attempt to smoke one.
It's one of those things were if you're curious to smoke one, you just attempt to smoke them all becuase it you only smoke one, it's useless as a collectors item.

Would be a cool piece to have in the cabinet as a conversation piece but it would kill me to give up that much real estate as extra storage space is almost non existent. That is the dilemma that I am in. Do I break up the band to try one out, then I am basically left with "NOT a Collectors piece". I do think it makes a heck of a conversation piece to pull out whilst herfin'. But if I leave it as a collector, do I miss out on perhaps a really good, but extremely timely:r cigar??

There are so many ELs and LEs and Collectors Editions and Annual Releases and Regional Releases etc. How many people are really going to want this years down the road? Its based on a TV show. I don't mean any offense, but I vote to smoke it. Maybe smoke a couple, trade a couple.
From a collectibles standpoint, I would venture a guess that you'll get more interest down the road from a Sopranos enthusiast than from a cigar enthusiast.

Hey Guys, have any of you ever had the H Upmann Edicion Limitada Cigars, they come 21 to a box, around 85.00 a box. Any feedback on that would be appreciated.
Also, I have opportunity to buy a box of Ashton Monarch Tubos for 160.00, has anybody had one and are they worth the money? Flavorful??
Thanks!
I quite enjoy that cigar. I've had 2 of the Edition Limitada; the H. Upman and the Trinidad (both the same blend just different vitolas).
I would try a single first to make sure you do though, some love it some don't.

How much per 45th? their pricing seems meh on the 1964 stuff.
Their pricing on the 1964's does seem a little higher than average but their usual pricing for the 45th based on recent newsletter mailings is $21/ea which is usually at or slightly cheaper than most sites I've seen. It's certainly a hellva lot cheaper than the $55 my local B&M is charging ;) Rob and Patrick are good guys and often have call in specials via their newsletter so your best bet is to give them a call directly for pricing (and/or sign up for the newsletter).
You may also be able to find the cheaper at other vendors that I don't have easy access to as many US based vendors won't ship to Canada. As a result there are a lot vendors that most inmates consider "standard" that I don't even bother to look at since I can't really buy from them anyways.

I had to combine one box, and load my travel humidor bound for my locker at Tampa Humidor to fit this one. For anyone wondering about size, it is long, flat and wide. Not something that fits very well into a medicine box-type humidor like mine. It is the same size as the Tatuaje Tubos boxes (actually that is exactly what it is).
They look delicious!!!

The original release Tat Black Robustos were released in a ceramic Tatauje jar a few years ago...not in boxes. What you have were promotional 3 packs that Pete Johnson sent to B&Ms. The latest release of the Tat Black is in a tubo. These are fantastic sticks, if you can find them. Pricy to a lot of people, but worth the price IMHO. Drawing anywhere from $ 10-15 a stick. My favorite Tat stick. :tu

The tat blacks released in the jars were not robustos, they were corona gordas and are pretty expensive if you can find them. The robustos were handed out by Pete in 3 pack boxes, not meant to be sold by themselves.

Ken...maybe I need to revisit those "A's"...I don't recall the spicyness of a triple maddie. -(P
Been awhile since I had a Camacho Trip Maddy but they were more chewy coffee chocolate with less spice the AAA's are like that but with some spice. Great cigar and COMPLETELY different than the 5 Vegas Series A.
