On tinned tobaccos do I really need to let it sit out to dry for a bit before loading the pipe? Ive noticed the last couple of bowls are hard to keep lit and smoking hot

That is what I do if the blends are a little moist or sticky. I have noticed that GL Pease blends may be moist out of the tin but do not require drying time to keep lit. But, for everything else I usually sit them out for 30min to an hour until they are just a bit dry but not crunchy. I am assuming the pipe is getting hot as a result from puffing to hard trying to keep it lit.

Right now I'm sampling all the tobaccos that Tallman gifted me - need to slow down and learn how to smoke them
Guess I also need to find the right blend for when I don't want to wait- a non aromatic I'm guessing.

Has anyone seen a post or article on what pipe shape/size is best for different tobaccos (aromatic vs non)?

Left some Trout Stream in my drying bowl last night so used it to fill my first pipe today - this stuff is really good by the way. The description is a mixture of Golden Cavendish Slices mixed with a sweet Black Cavendish.

Sounds like a winner there Mark. I looked it up on tobacco reviews. How much a part does the Latika play in the mix?

The Latakia is there, but its not a monster Jake. The Latakia marries well with the other tobacco's in this blend, and provides a wonderful complexity. Its a medium strength smoke with lots of smoky types of flavor, spiciness, and subtle sweetness. Its wonderful. Perfect for a cool day or evening. When I opened my tin, the tobacco had just the right amount of humidity for a good burn. In essence, it wasn't "wet" or "damp" out of the 2oz tin. It has remained so in the Mason jar as well. Its a great English blend!

This was a drawback for me as well, but I got around this by using PP. PipesandCigars.com has also went this route. =(

On another forum, I read that Mastercard is requiring a yearly fee to use their service if you sell tobacco. Not sure on the fee but I heard it was around 5k.

I know it came out about a year ago and dried up rather quickly, then more was put out last October and that's the batch I got. I'm hoping that another batch gets out soon but I know it will go quick because of the hype its getting.

have you tried Accountants mixture, Presbyterian mix, or P.S balkan sup. yet ? when its not pirate cake, It's usually those.

I have a tin of Presbyt mix but have not cracked it yet. I do like Rayttrays Red Raparee (sp), it seems to have good flavor throughout the whole bowl. Ill check out the Pirate Kake:tu

That is totally Rad! How long have you had it? S Yanik really has some great meers...It was an unexpected low-ball win on ebay a year ago. If large, and more cabbage than rose, it is nevertheless and excellent smoker. Too heavy to clench it will 'hang" from the button nice enough (for a minute or so before my jaw starts to bend) to smoke in the car. Bowl holds an insane amount of tobacco - smokes regularly to ash. Conversation piece that's a pleasure to smoke. Yanik makes a good product if you have to go by this pipe.

You seem to smoke just a few blends until they're gone, and on to something new lately. I wish I had that control, instead of like 40-50 open jars up on my shelf( and I still had the urge to crack the ODF?), u really get a feel for the blend before u write it off. Have you found something you didn't like yet?

Yes, Cumberland. I thought I was going to love it and smoked about an oz trying to but I jarred it up and hope time will make it better. It's just to dry (tasting) for me.
