Orlik Golden Sliced earlier, now some Peterson's Uni Flake ( thanks MJ ).

Still on the fence about the Orlik. I want it to be a 4 star smoke because of the price, but in 2 different pipes so far it's been a very 1 dimensional smoke. Might keep some on hand for those times when puffing without much thought is required. Only my second round with Uni Flake, still not sure about this blend. Everyone raves about it, but I have yet to have that moment when I go "ah-ha" and buy 10 tins.

I'm still in the "learning" phase with Westminster. It's definelty top of the line tobacco, as are all of GLP's blends. It is pretty straight forward at first. Lots of latakia, with the orientals and Va's way in the back. But the last 1/3 of the bowl, the orientals started poking through, as did the VA's which really made it interesting. I'm not sure why they waiting until the final part to come along. I'd like to find something with less latakia, and more orientals to try to be honest. I enjoy a latakia blend dont get me wrong, but I'm starting to want less of it. If I want latakia I'll just reach for a lat bomb. But I'm trying to find something thats not so Lat right in my face so much.

Frank, let that Dark Star dry out some... it is almost impossible to keep lit the way it comes out of the tin. I read a lot of reviews on it, and plan on well drying it before hand. As I do most McClelland VA tobaccos.

1-Q is a staple for me. I always keep a jar with 4-8 ounces on my desk. If a blend I'm trying turns out to be a stinker, I usually just fill some 1-Q up and smoke that. Plus it's damn cheap.

Good morning pipers:tu My P&C shipment arrived yesterday...

Packed the Kaywoodie Oversized with some of the H&H Anniversary Kake. This is some good stuff. Nice aroma. Spice with some mild sweetness, almond, and citrus notes at various times on the finish. No problem staying lit during the session as some stiring around in the bowl replaced the use of a match.

One thing I notice upon opening my 8oz bag, was a mild presence of hops aroma (and I say mild) which I enjoyed. Then I started to think of what it might be like to have a pipe blend with some hop leaf.

Who knows:D

Some Christmas Cheer from last year. Not too bad. I do not get a chance to fill up this Bjarne often so I was happy to get it lit this morning while I was waiting on the little ones to get up.

nice! how do you like that Barrel? I've always wanted to get one when I had the budget.

Love it, one of my favorite pipes, good size for me. I will frequently grab it over my two Jack Hackerts. Got it from PipesandCigars.com awhile back. Wouldn't mind picking up another one but can't seem to find the Rusticated version anywhere. CupOJoes does seem to have the smooth barrel in stock though.

I decided to open a tin of Petersen & Sorensen Premium Blend (a blend of black cavendish and bright/sweet virginias, flavored with dried fruits). I'm not a big fan of aromatics, but this one has a nice flavor and a great aroma. :pi

Happy Holidays!

Just joined up mostly for the cigar talk as I'm really getting back into the sticks. I made a proper intro on the main forum.

But as a confirmed pipe smoker I'm glad to see some wood burners here as well and wanted to say hey.

Right now it's Pipeworks and Wilke High Hat in an old Savinelli Punto Oro Billiard.
