Agreed! Decided I needed to spend some relax time with this one instead of driving! As Frenchy himself said in his pipetalk podcast interview about it: "whew sunza-*****ez thats good!"
I'm having another bowl in a new cob right now! This is very good tobacco. I think a pound of this will be in the next order for sure!

It comes dry as it is, seems almost too dry. I read, however, that if you let it dry even more, say 30 minutes, before packing, the taste of whiskey really comes out. Tis true, it adds another depth of flavor.

I'll have to try that! Honestly like you mentioned it's pretty much ready to smoke moisture wise as it comes! I wouldn't have thought about drying it more.. I would think it would get crispy!!
And once again, this is today's transit smoke! Can't seem to get enough of it. HOWEVER, for the first time I have had an example of how a tobacco's flavors can be articulated by the pipe it is smoked in. Today I am having my transit bowl in a Mario Grandi nosewarmer (pot), while still good tobacco, it's not near as flavorful as it was in the hilson (bent brandy) I smoked it in yesterday! Very interesting to me as I had not as of yet experienced this..

next time you're at outlaw, ask them if it's a "Lane's" bulk blend. they use to have a very popular tinned blend called "crown achievement", which was a strong latakia english blend (to me it was).

H&H Virginia Spice in a K. Huhn Tulip.
verdict after the 1st bowl? i'll finish the tin and never look at buying it again. smells great in the tin, tastes like every other Va/Per i've tried from H&H, and that's not good.
maybe a month of airing out will improve the flavor, cuz i doubt it'll get worse.
if you like H&H Va/Pers, then i suggest you try this, it tastes the same as, say... CD Kajun Kake without any sweetness (i never got sweetness from KK anyway, but i know a lot of you state you have), and it has some cigar leaf added to it (that i couldn't tell was there - maybe cuz that harsh spice note i get from their Va/Pers was pissing me off).

Well I am new to pipe smoking like I just started 5 hours ago. I was at my local b&m talking to the guy about them and he helped me out by giving me a corncob just to see if I'd like it and a mystery blend of tobacco. All I can say is it smells like brown sugar and I enjoyed every bit of it. Any words from the wise to help me out in my endeavor of pipes

Glad you liked it. It is one of my favorites. I stocked up on it before I moved from Massachusetts to South Carolina. They will ship the blends too. The prices are not listed on the website at the moment but I paid about $40 for a 14 oz box. It was cheaper if it is shipped outside of Taxachusetts:
http://www.owlshop.com/index2.html
The history of it goes back 40 or 50 years. One of the customers at the store was a big fan of Balkan Sobranie, but it was usually wet and the the customer had issues with mold. The owner blended up his own version of BS and left it on the dry side, like all of their blends. And it went on to become their best seller.
And FYI, try the delayed enjoyment technique on it if you are not able to finish a bowl. It brings a little sweetness to the table.

Lane BCA - Had a half bowl left from the weekend.
SG Navy Flake from TheTraveler newb trade. Not bad, had a much lighter flavor then I expected from it's strong smell. Clean finish. If I had the ability to puff all day long this could make it into the rotation every now and then. Gurgled a bit, but that's most likely from my smoking technique (or lack of) and/or the cheap briar I'm smoking it in as the tobac didn't seem too moist in the slightest. I felt a bit of bite creeping in most likely from me going at it a bit too hard or my infrequent smoking.
Probably finish off the last 2hrs here at the smoke shop with some Mac Baren Gold of Denmark, again from aforementioned trade. :D
