When I was in during the early 80's, you could. My Capt. smoked that apple tobacco from the drug store. A few others, like my LPO smoked a pipe, too. We could remove smoke from atmosphere with electro-static precipitators. They are like those ones you see on TV, but bigger and incorporated into the ventilation system.
BTW, I do not like what has happened to the Navy. Many, many, bad, terrible things. Apparently, Liberty isn't for the ones doing the fighting for it.
They're gonna lock people up in a steel pipe, underwater for weeks at a time and expect them to quit? Insane!

The Comoys is lighter than the Boswells I am used to that is sure. I usually like bigger bowls and heavier pipes. The Comoys bowl is the size of a small egg in your hand.
This a first for the French made (English company) offerings for me and I like them so far!

Sorry. I have chronic diverticulosis and almost bled out a couple of times. I think it's one of those things you get if the world doesnt figure out a sooner way to take you down. My dr said nothing about any of that stuff. Im supposed to try to stay calm (not happening much) and not eat certain things like nuts and corn. Was last in the hospital in Sept. I got deductions a plenty for this tax year!
Now to go smoke a bowl of something nice in the Comoys! :)
Yeah, that's what I have! I was last in in June. I had a quick bleed and it stopped but they kept me a few days just in case. That's when my doc took me off that stuff. The first time, in 2010, they removed two feet of colon. You might want to ask about it. My doc didn't say anything about corn and he wants me to eat nuts (chewed well) and other fiber sources, just not "pointy" things.
Oh, I haven't gotten the Comoy's yet, It'll have to wait a while, I spent some money on some Margate.

Think I'm pretty much set in what I have at this time Brian. If I had extra as far as baccy goes, I would. Now, if you're interested in a new vintage classic zippo lighter, I can do that. Why not just dry a couple bowls worth. Leave it out. When it feels dry enough, put it in a small mason jar 'till you're ready to smoke it. Dark pressed Virginias, like Dark Star, I will dry until they're bone dry, and I get no bite. They seem to keep well when dried, too.

Finding a spot to put a dish or plate is tuff right now. Tax paperwork all over every spare spot in my office. Absolutely cluttered. All the bag tobacco is in a humidor that is left open and some bags are open to the air. Thats the best I can do right now. Lots of deductions tho! Hobbit Weed in the MM Legend. Thanks for sending me a sample Matt (mhailey). Very cherry aroma, especially coming off the top of the bowl and drifting up your nose. Then again, a gentle snorkle produces the flavor too!
My word. That tobacco looks like it must be under water kind of wet!
Naaaw! Looks just fine from here Bill!

Dried it a good 8 hours, but still a little gurgle. Mildly aromatic, nothing drastic.

Some more "Chicken and Waffles" in a 1940's Belvedere pot. This is an early Nutcracker restore. It's a solid feeling pipe that sits well in the hand, but is heavy to clench. I think it would be better suited to flake. (Just by the hefty look). Given it's vintage, perhaps some Squadron Leader. I mean it does look like something a Spitfire pilot might smoke!

Neil, the Stim Pkg is great. Definitely more going on than the 10 Russians (still love 10r).I got a lot of spice flavor coming through a larger sized bowl. I'm going to keep playing around with which pipe fits it just right.

I tend to smoke everything very, very dry, and I gotta say that when you're not dealing with steam and gurgle, everything just tastes better.
As a matter of fact, I had some Plum Cake drying for about 11 hours in a sort of dry box and it's about perfect. Dry like cigarette tobacco. I just moved it to a small mason jar :tu

I've taken to mixing 75% PS Bullseye Flake with 25% something else. Today the small portion was Frog's Cellar. Nice flavor and aroma without being too overpowering and I got that nice slow bullseye burn.

Coming back to Virginias again. Gave it a try with a very tight flake when I first picked up the pipe and couldn't get it to burn well.

I've recently begun the fold & stuff method with flakes and find it works very well. Might be worth trying out Flynn.
I've been working on some 2 y/o Capstan Blue as well as the Blue Mountain. Both very tasty.
Also, I just started a new job Monday and have a few tobacco shops nearby. I'll be stopping at one on the way home today since the wife and kids are out of town and will try to grab a tin of Nightcap. I've realized Dunhill has yet to disappoint me and I'm long overdue to try this famed mixture.
