I went to smoke a LGC reserva figuardo and it was soo damn tight I couldn't pull air through it so I had to put it back down. Went for the DPG JJ maduro instead. Pretty decent smoke once you get past the first inch of PEPPER. Got a little bitter in the final third though.

Had a AF Hemingway Classic last night. Always a great smoke, and gave me an hour or so to catch up with a new friend that I only get to see every few weeks. Good time.

This morning it was a CI Anniversary Epicure (6.0" X 52) with a pot of hot java. This was the first one I've tried and I think I like it. More of a medium bodied smoke teetering on the verge of mild until the last 3rd of the stick or so. I can live with that. The burn was lazer straight up until the last 2 inches where it became a little wavy, but not unruly. I loved the shape of the cigar with a light box press. It was sort of a box press with the edges rounded off. The ash was a little flaky and held on for about an inch before dropping off.

With a nice tobacco flavor, this was not a complex smoke by any means, however, the beautiful burn and construction helped to keep my attention.

These will be a nice introduction to my Saturday morning smoke this summer.

Last night I had a niiiiice Puros Indios. Too bad I can't tell y'all which one. Their website didn't have any pics of em.

This morning started with disaster.

An Edge toro corojo that had some NASTY blister on the foot. Looked like someone rolled a big knuckle of a vein just under the wrapper. Then, the wrapper disintegrated on it.

Threw it out the window and lit another Puros. It started nice but tunnelled right down the middle 1in. in. Got uber hot and started tasting like charcoal. Threw it out the window, too.

Hoping to have better luck with a Padilla Miami torpedo and a Bucanero Full Sail later.

CAO Black. I really like these but this one was not only new (just received it today) Stupid me. But it was rolled super tight and full. I poked it and it opened up a little. after about 1/3 I could not pull anything thru. I chopped it about an inch behind the cherry. Re-lit, still no good. Cut another inch off, re-lit. STILL no draw. Tossed it. My throat and jaw hurt from drawing so hard :fl

I decided on a CAO Black that I picked up in one of the CI sampler deals a couple of weeks ago. I dunno what the deal was, but this stick was foul. It tasted and smelled like wet hay and ammonia. I started out with an incredibly acrid '01 Quintero Panatela. I threw it and surprisingly I had a nice lingering sweet taste that I didn't get until I stopped smoking it. 01 Hoyo Churchill

What did you think of it?
I had my first 01 Hoyo Churchill yesterday and it was slightly too plugged. I got a definite menthol taste in the lower 1/3rd as I'd read in a review

Today I had an A. Fuente Short Story, a little bit plugged again but delivered well in the lower half. I'm sure I got a slight menthol taste from the last 2 draws of that one too..weird!

I had one a month ago from a friend that was great. This one I had the yesterday was a little on the tight side and almost fell on the flat side. That's ok I got 24 more left that will sit for some time.

Yesterday, actually. A Gurkha Regent Robusto - my first Gurkha. Found it a little 'rough around the edges' but seemed to improve markedly for the second half.
