Indeed, Rondo was one of the best of the early CVs. They made a remake of it two years ago that was pretty good.

I'm on vacation, been playing some Team Fortress 2 on my laptop :tu

What would possess you to buy one of the worst games of the year? You should read some reviews before picking your games, you complain alot most of them sucking :td

Today, i'm working off Tday dinner and maybe will play some Minecraft when people clear out :D

See there's where you are mistaken. Who said I bought it? All of the games I review/crap on I didn't buy. I usually do read reviews but I'm a sucker for shooter games and usually give them a break....in this case I could not. It was beyond horrible. I don't know if you needed to play the first one to understand a bit of the story but I really don't think there was one.

Basically I've played too many games. There aren't many good ones left.

The only game I've bought within the past .....2 years is Starcraft II.

That's crazy, this has been an unbelievable year for gamers. There has been an over abundance of good games in fact. But considering how many good titles you've labeled as crap you probably wouldn't like any of them.

I only play PC if that makes a difference. I'm no good with those controllers.

I also don't play online if that makes a difference. Far to addicting.

Single player games with good story lines are what I'm enjoying now a days.

Just beat force unleashed 2 ...meh

Mass Effect 2 was probably the only game worth buying to me besides Starcraft 2. I did throughly enjoy beating that twice.

It is also noted that I've been unemployed for 4.5-5 months this year. So buying games I'll just beat and quit isn't really an option, well unless I want to stop buying cigars.

People are actually enjoying black ops? I think its flat out the worst game of the series on 360 thus far.

I'm seriously pondering trading mine in already.

On a different note, Castlevania LoS was a great game. A bit drawn out at times, but really good. Ending was excellent.

I think the graphics, sound and overall flow of the game is far inferior to MW2.

I love the customization, but the trade off isn't worth it.

MW2 would be perfect IF:

1) One man army was removed
2) Grenade Launchers couldn't be resupplied
3) Quick Scoping was removed
4) Commando/Lightweight/Marathon removed

I have to say that I like black ops more than mw. I like the fact that camping is less, the noob tubes are less effective and the customizations. I also like all the challenges though I could use more contracts to choose from. I will say that I need some reward for get prestige besides a new custom class...maybe a new gun every 2 prestige levels. Though the G11 and stoner are pretty awesome.

I might have to keep an eye out for a GT5 deal with wheel since I did love prologue.

Castlevania games that aren't platformers are not my style. I haven't liked one yet that wasn't a side-scroller. LoS looks like a decent game, but shouldn't have Castlevania in the title.

I can see where you are coming from. But in all fairness to LoS it is a reboot of the franchise. It has no connection to the story line of old, and it is the first really good 3d CV. I think it was needed, they really played out the Metroid style games, and there has been slim pickings on the old school style (two titles in the last five years!), it's worth a rent at least. The story is excellent, it is much longer than most action games these days, and there are a few cool nods to the CVs of old.

I'm not knocking the game itself, but I just don't see why they stamped Castlevania on the title. Mario didn't need a revamp, neither has Zelda. Why can't Simon Belmont (or any Belmont and the whip) be a part of the videogame canon too? Like I said, the game looks great, and another plus b/c Patrick Stewart is the narrator, but the Castlevania series to me is 1-4, SOTN, and Rondo of Blood (and the two new side-scroller downloads on Wii and PS3).

Sure did, Haven't got much play tie at all with it being away for the holiday, but once I catch up i'll be diving back in. Still haven't tried multi yet!

Andy, the Castlevania stamp is there really just to signify that this is a new branch of the franchise. It actually wasn't a CV title when it was first teased two years ago, Konami made the decision to push more units. While i'm with you, SCIV, Rondo, HoD, and Drac X chronicles are my favs to date, i'm not opposed to the 3D switch. I've played all the others and while canon, they are terrificly bad games. loS is just a new thing, but as I said it is an excellent game and a damn good reboot of the franchise (the story is killer).

Alright fellas. I broke down and grabbed a PS3 the other day and so far I've bought GTA, Uncharted 2, God of War III, and Castlevania.

I'm on the fence about Black Ops and AC: Brotherhood right at the moment, howere are there any other "must have" titles for the PS3 that I'm overlooking?

What about Infamous? I enjoy both shooters and puzzle games with racing and sports usually taking a back seat if I have the choice.

Thanks in advance gang!!!

SOTN was the S#1T my friends and I would come home after school (8th grade allmost 14 years ago :r) and spend hours trying to unlock the max percentage of the map. Our record was 219% :noon

Wii Sports Resort table tennis rocks! I particularly love the way my moron Mii stands on one side of the table after a return, leaving the opponent wide open for a slam. Or when I work the computer Mii way out of position, and the Wii "misinterprets" my topspin slam as a nice soft lob. I just had to shut the Wii off to save the new TV from a Wii remote related injury.

My wife doesn't like to play with me. I'm a decent table tennis player IRL, and I don't think I'm capable of playing a shot without *some* spin. It's surprising how realistic the gameplay is with the Motion Plus.
So, I'm playing mostly single player, and I'm just about up to the champion. It's just annoying when your Mii does stupid sh!t. Or when the AI gives itself a break, like a weak return of a topspin slam that just catches the edge of the table and bounces away, unreturnable...
Swordplay is the same way. I studied Japanese martial arts for years, and the mechanics are very true to shinai sparring. Until you get up to the point where the AI can instantaneously change the angle of its sword 180 degrees... :r

Hope you heal quickly. :tu Which FF?

Well, I've been meaning to replay FFX. I remember that game sooo clearly. Filling Yuna's sphere grid fully, getting the legendary weapon for each character...That game was my 6th grade jam!

I'm also considering grabbing the new Gran Turismo for PS3 as well.

And I'll be fine. I dislocated it back before the new year, and it isn't healing quite right. They'll move the shoulder into the right place and then sew it in place to make sure it doesn't slip out again in the future. I have 2 weeks (minimum) of healing, so I figure I'll have a solid 7-10 days where I'll feel like playing some games :)

My wife just picked up Assassins Creed 3. I was going to when it came out in Nov but honestly I couldn't be bothered with anything that wasn't Black Ops during that time LOL. She absolutely loved the 2nd one so I'm assuming this one will be similar.

I haven't had a chance to play it yet but will report back in when finals are over and when my work schedule lets up a bit.

It wasn't really "hacked" per se...but they required only an e-mail address and a date of birth to change. Both of those pieces of data would have been in the database of whoever cracked in and stole info. I'll call it an exploit/workaround/glaring inconsistency :)

...:( I'm really trying to make it positive and say they caught it before anything major happened. *sigh*

I started up on DragonAge: Origins again last night. I tried it when it first came out, and it just didn't do anything for me. I am enjoying it quite a bit more so far. Just had it laying around for a year, seemed like it was time to sit down and play it haha.

Sony estimated a $171 Million cost for the PSN breach...only about $2 per account.

But between the earthquake and the PSN breach, they are at a net loss of $3.14 Billion for their fiscal year. Yowza.

Not a new one but you know what I really enjoy is Eufloria. If you're on steam pull down the demo. It's solid, simple and clever.

Minecraft is really crackilicious. Problem is on my laptop (win7/64) it locks up about every 10 minutes or so. Oddly I've gotten used to it and still play. The guys in the irc channel exhausted their suggestions at "upgrade video drivers".

Whenever I'm doing a wipe if I don't do a full backup, I always make sure to dump my users folder. 90% of the single player games I have played since Oblivion save to mydocs. I guess they do it so people don't have to go trolling through the program files when they switch boxes. Does anyone here play any steam games? Team Fortress 2 and Zombie Panic especially.

Yup I always transfer my whole personal folder jsut for the wierd stuff that may be hidden there.

GOG.com offers some classics for download. I picked up "The Journeyman Project 2" from them not too long ago. Give them a look :tu

And if you are looking to go REAL oldschool, look up DOSbox. It is an emulator to be able to play classics from WIN95. You'll have to download backups of the images online (for games you legally own, of course) and/or rip your own discs to use it.

It has had a few patches post release, to be honest aside from some frame rate issues I didn't notice anything game breaking before. The AI is indeed crap though, which is frustrating given how few people are playing it. Stalemates aplenty because the AI is too stupid to act as a team. If you are looking for a good team based shooter Team Fortress 2 is still the better choice.

I also picked up the Witcher 2. Agree with the Bill, the combat sucks but the story is kind of interesting. Still on the fence about it, don't think i'll finish it but it is kinda fun in small doses.

Playing L.A. Noire.

And enjoying it very much.. Story is very good, gameplay has both some shooting and a bunch of puzzles, plus you get to beat the crap out of suspects.

Its not quite the action of a GTA or a Red Dead Redemption, but it adds a whole new element to the game engine.

After noodling with it a bunch this weekend I may warm up to it.

I haven't encountered any playtime bugs at all after about 3-4 hours of play.

The only thing I suspect might be a bug is that the weapon selections don't have descriptions. There's a list of stats for each, which is fine for selecting one, but there's no text. Tough to tell if there's supposed to be, having never seen it.

I may re-buy Crysis as I can't find the dvd. But then I might just pick up C2 and go with that.

Eh, I'm still playing it...I can say one thing though. This game has some decent time to it. Too bad quite a bit of it is spent walking around the REALLY annoying terrain.

I really think that if they released it a year later with some better testers and less annoying gameplay...it could have been a solid 8.5-9/10. For me now it's a 7.5-8

Half and half. I bought a barebones rig that I love. (high end motherboard, mid-range cpu designed for overclocking. Lots of upgrade potential.) With a 1T drive and a big old vid card. So I didn't really have to do much.

Here's the breakdown:

Barebones kit (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=465482&CatId=333)
The video card is a: "XFX Radeon HD 6950 800M 2GB DDR5 Mini DP/DVI PCIE"Oddly I can't seem to find it on the Tiger Direct site. (I can find 1g cards all day. But the 2g card I'm having trouble with.
Hard drive (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4426054&CatId=2459)
Bought a plain old dvd burner and win7-64 professional.

Just plugged it in, put the win7-64 dvd iand go. (No keyboard, mouse, monitor or speakers with that. I've got all that silliness.)

Installed steam and had it go get all my stuff while I went to work ;)

The Witcher 2

Combat 6/10 - This is where the game really lacked, mouse click = fighting. The entire combat is comprised of one mouse click, the keys X and Q. That is it.
Story 9/10 - Great interesting story, the end fell a little flat IMO though.
Gameplay 7.5/10 - At times confusing and doesn't really explain much.

Overall rating, ...eh it's worth playing once if you have nothing else to play. But that's about it. If they would have improved the combat, and maybe added a few hours to the gameplay.....

I could go on and on but I'm sure this makes the point.

When I'm looking for a quick killing-streak fix I usually reach for Counter-Strike Source or MW2. It all depends on how much of a dick I feel like being.

Let me elaborate on the way I play MW2. I load into a map and say one of a few phrases "LOL NOOB TUBE" "LOL CAMPING WITH A THERMAL SCOPE" "LOL UMP" etc. I play that game when I'm in a be-a-jerk-online kind of mood.

CS:S is pretty fun. And when you load into a gungame, it is really fast paced with zero team work involved. Gungame is also popular in condition zero.

There aren't any really modern day shooters (Other than Black Ops, but you already know about that one I'm sure) that are lone-wolf. CS:S, unreal tourney, etc. were all a blast and had no team work required. You always have the option to work as a team - and it is more needed on objective based maps/modes.

However, CS:S and UT don't fulfill your single player bit. I'd recommend BF:BC2 or MoH for single player. I play through old school Medal of Honor: Allied Assault every few years. Still a fantastic game.

Nice to hear Crysis 2 didn't go the 'mostly multiplayer' route.

Well they made it too much like CS. For 1
2. 2 weapons...wtf, and the freeze gun does nothing....
3. Not enough Duke one liners
4. Needs more smoking, beer drinking and sluts
5. More items should have been interactive
6. EASILY better graphics
7. MUCH more single player.
8. Less puzzles
9. Shrunken Duke was overused and annoying.

I could keep going on and on.....overall I'd give it a 7/10. Assuming they deliver on the next one that is.
