Enjoying a Kentucky Fire Cured during the first tailgate of the year at Olde Queens Island for the Rutgers Spring Game. As usual we started at 3 AM. Scotch (Balvenie 14) and Cigars were at 0600.

Very nice flavor to the stick with a smoky, woodsy flavor to start. It was not harsh or bitter at all. Some tanginess starts to develop at the end of the first third. Through the second third the tanginess continued with a woodiness. During this point, the different flavors blend a bit and actually wind up being quite enjoyable for me. As you get into the final third of the stick, the tanginess begins to soften and ultimately disappears. The smoky, woody, earthy, and sweet tobacco notes remain to the end.

All in all, I would say this was a nice, relaxing stick to enjoy while watching Indiana Jones (in the background).

E.P. Carrillo Oscuro Churchill picked up at the Holts sale. The draw was on the tight side, and the San Andreas wrapper did not overwhelm the rest of the smoke. This has potential but I think it needs more rest.

On a sad note, a VIAJE Satori, my last near as I can tell, had some funky oily yellow pasty residue on the cellophane fold over, not on the cigar but the piece you fold. I was able to,wipe it with a Q-tip and it looked like a a sulphuric based pasty oil but I just couldn't bear to smoke it so I am sitting here sulking while smoking a Casa Fernandez Miami Maduro toro.

My wife made fun of my anguish and said I had thousands of others. She is exaggerating as it's more like 800 but ok, still, it's my last VIAJE Satori and it smelled damn good.

This was no yellow cellophane, this was yellow paste on clear cellophane. ****. Seriously, ****. Maybe it was oil leaking out? Maybe it was funky ass stuff on the cello?

Ah well, I had to whine somewhere.

That particular Monster, Jekyll, is kind of mild and just so so I n my opinion. I had it mid day as I know it's not very strong. For a cigar with a Sancti Spiritus wrapper, it's a bit disappointing and is the reason I don't do boxes of Monster cigars anymore and just buy singles.

On a more positive note, I found one more Viaje Satori hidden among my cigars! Actually I found another but it's a robisto and an old one that I bought from a CA brother a few years back. Now this cigar is good.

Smoked a Nub of some sort and a Southern Draw Rose of Sharon. The Southern Draw was ok and the Nub actually had a decent flavor profile, but the draw and spongy construction were awful.
