Also, since I spend so much time driving, I'm also listening to Stephen King's Under the Dome on CD. Unabridged, it's 30 discs. :jd

I'm just finishing this up. I was a big Stephen King fan his earliest days back in the 70s: loved Pet Sematary, Carrie, The Shining, many of his short stories, Christine, Salem's Lot. For me, The Stand & the Dark Tower series are probably the pinnacle of his work. He fell out of favor with me as an author in the 90's, though--too many words, too much "woe is me the poor tortured writer" bleck. And I never could get into much of his most recent stuff.

But I have to say, Under the Dome is right up there at the top of his best writing. Great mixture of horror, terror, dark comedy, a real human interest story. Very engaging from start to finish.

Just finished Cryoburn, a sci-fi story continuing the sage of Miles Versoghian, by Lois M Bujold. A good read, especially if you enjoy space operas.

Also recently finished Catacombs by Anne Mcaffery and Elizabeth Moon Scarborough. Sadly this does not live up to these authors prior works. Story moves along very herky jerky like and the character development which has always been a Mcaffery strongpoint is strangly weak.

"The Power of Positive Dog Training" by Pat Miller (Amazon Link (http://www.amazon.com/Power-Positive-Dog-Training/dp/0470241845)).

Good stuff so far. With a new five-month-old puppy, the training exercises are a great way to tucker her out. They seem to make her more tired than a long walk does!

About half-way through John Adams by David McCullough. This has been on my list for a long time. Everyone said I'd love it.

The first couple of times I started it, I put it down after a few pages. I either couldn't get into it or found something else I really wanted to read. This time, I'm far enough into it that I can see why it won the Pulitzer Prize.

If you're into zombies/vampires it's a fun, quick read. The historical aspects are a little gimmicky, but it is kind of fun to come across a true reference from Lincoln's life (like how he met his wife) and see how the author turns it into something to do with vampires.
