Was a little hesitant but it blew me away! Alagash Black Stout - very hoppy for a stout, but not bad. Good beer for someone who enjoys a heavier beer with some hops. I'm just not a hops guy.

Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout - I'd recommend this as a dessert beer, the chocolate smell is overwhelming, and it tastes like beer with some Hershey's syrup. Glad it was my last beer of the night.

For those in and around New Jersey, you may want to try Demented Brewing in Middlesex, NJ. (https://www.dementedbrewing.com)

The newest of their brews is called Double Dementia IPA. I tried it yesterday and was blown away by the flavor and quality of the brew. If you enjoy Imperial/Double craft beers, I would suggest this one. With an ABV of 8.5%, you will not be disappointed. Their description of the flavor is great:

"Reserved for the most infernal of palates, Double Dementia
is a sinful collection of classic west coast hops blended with
malts the color of hellfire. Just the right amount of bitter,
followed by an explosion of juicy citrus flavor blended with
bright floral aromas. Drinking easier than any Imperial IPA
should, this beer is evil... that's what we love about it."

Octomore 7.2. It's my first time trying an Octomore and I was surprised by how balanced it is.

So, I love good stuff as much as the next guy, but I always keep a bottle of Jim Beam in the cabinet. It's nostalgic for me, what my grand dad drinks, what I drank in college, etc.

Stopped at the border on the way back from Canada this weekend and picked up some black label instead of white. Damn was it worth it! I suggest everyone give it a try next time they are at the store.

It's only a bit more than the regular, but I don't know how much, since I got a 1 liter bottle for $18 at the duty free!

I'm sipping some of this. I grabbed it while my wife and I were on a Danube river cruise last month. I didn't know at the time that whiskey was being made in Austria. It's pretty decent, but it tastes like the unaged spirit would have more in common with some of the unaged brandies I've had than with grain spirit. That's probably a result of the final product having been aged in Pinot Noir barrels. Still, it's a tasty drink to sip while having a cigar...

Today is the day that millions of Americans celebrate the fact that they were duped by the marketing departments of a nasty beer, Corona, and a crappy tequila, Jose Cuervo, into observing the date of a rather insignificant battle that took place 150 years ago in another country against another country.
I'm celebrating with some homebrew that beats the crap out of Corona like a Frenchman getting whipped by the Federales. :D

I used to bartend and I love muddling some fresh jalapenos and tossing them in the shaker and then mixing the marg with the peppers. Makes such a good margarita!

Got turned on to a new rum on a little sojourn to Puerto Rico last week: Dos Mederas 5 + 5. Supposedly aged five years in the Caribbean then finished for another five back in Spain. It was silky smooth with the right amount sweetness for me, and no burn. Easy sipping all day long.
