Just finishing my bottle of Hudson Whiskey Four Grain Bourbon while watching the Devils game. I did a review of this over a year ago on another site. I copied it below. It took me over a year to finish the bottle, so I wouldn't call it a favorite of mine. I probably won't be buying this again. I'm just making room for new bourbons!!
Reviewed 11/10/2007
That's right! Hudson Whiskey just released Hudson Baby Bourbon!!
From their website....
HUDSON BABY BOURBON is made with 100% New York State corn. No additives or coloring added. This is honest single-grain whiskey. Bottled at 92 proof, labeled, wax-sealed and numbered by hand at the distillery.
Tuthilltown Spirits in Gardiner, New York is the first distillery producing hand made vodkas and whiskey in the State since the repeal of Prohibition. Our spirits are made from New York agricultural products. Unlike most vodkas, at Tuthilltown we distill our spirits from scratch right at the distillery making use of the local original materials such as whole fresh apples, New York corn and local wine grapes. We never use industrially produced neutral alcohol in our products. Taste them and you'll see for yourself. Our apple vodkas are truly the HEART and SPIRIT OF THE HUDSON. And our whiskey leaves no doubt it's origin.
This extraordinary single grain bourbon is out the small American made charred Oak Whiskey barrels. The BABY is available at fine spirits shops and restaurants throughout the Hudson Valley.
Our unique aging process produces a mildly sweet, smooth spirit with hints of vanilla and caramel.
HUDSON BABY BOURBON is fermented from 100% New York corn. It is the first bourbon made in New York and the first legal pot-distilled whiskey to be made in New York since the start of Prohibition. It is a true American classic. Distilled and bottled in limited quantity so place your bottle order or private reserve barrel order now.

My review.....
I never thought I'd see a bourbon made in New York, so when I came across this one, I had to try it. It's rather pricey ($40. / 375ml) but then again what in NY isn't.
Over the past 3-4 years I've been sampling every different kind of bourbon I can get my hands on, and this one is very unique. Right on the bottle, it says its made with four grains (Corn, Rye Wheat, & Malted Barley) and I'm no expert, but I swear I can pick up each one. It wasn't smokey nor harsh and finished surprisingly smooth. I didn't pick up on the hints of vanilla or caramel like it says on their website and the finish although smooth, was somewhat flat.
I enjoyed my first taste of Hudson's Bourbon, but I'll have to revisit it to really decide if I'll be buying more or not. It's definately worth trying to pick up the other flavors, but as far as being a staple in my bourbon rotation I'm not sure if this one is going to cut it.
I'll finish off the bottle, but then I'll probably stick to Kentucky for my bourbon selection.
Check out the website for more info.

Glenrothes Vintage 1991 Single Malt Scotch
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n36/MrMaduro/glenrothes_1991_small.jpg
I got this bottle last year from a vendor for the holidays and never got around to cracking it open. When I received the same bottle again this year, I knew I had to give it a try. Wow! The description of the character on the bottle says it all. (Berry, fruits, vanilla & butterscotch) What an awesome single-malt! I'm not big on single malts, but this may be one of the best I have ever tried. I would reccomend this bottle to any fan of Scotch...blends or singles. I've seen the bottle in stores from $80 on the high end to $60 on the low end which is probably a steal! I'm really happy I have 2 bottles now.....wow!

Drinking a double Knob Creek on the rocks at the Dewars Bar and Grill at the airport in Waikiki, HI waiting for my plane. While in Hawaii I frequented a bar called Rum and Fire where I drank lots of Zaya Guatemalan rum as well as a few variations of Pyrat rum including the XO and ultimately a glass of the Cask 23 that the bartender gave me for free which was VERY good.

Last night for dessert my sister made I rum cake. What better to pair with a rum cake, then rum?? So I poured my Step Dad and I some Zacapa 23. After that we had some homemade Lemmoncello that he's been waiting to be ready for about 3 months. After that we went out for a cigar and I poured some Eagle Rare 17 with the cigar. We finished with some beers from our home brew club that we are in. All in all a great night of eating and drinking with the family.

Tonight i just finished a Rouge St. Rouge Red Ale and all i have to say is wow. everything from the light moca color head to beautiful red color this beer was amazing. The lace stayed on the glass from the top all the way to the bottom. Right now i am working on a glass of Rouge Mocha Porter. I had a friend pick these out for me and i wasnt too keen on the name but this beer isnt exactly coffee flavored. Upon initial sipping it tastes of caramel but the finish has a very pleasant coffee note. I would drink both these wonderful beers again any day

Tonight, my girlfriend & I had a bottle of Lucien Albrecht Cremant d'Alsace Brut Rose, followed by a Mionetto Brut Prosecco with steak.
I've been on a Rose kick lately, but I prefer the standard Lucien Albrecht Brut ($20) over the Lucien Albrecht Brut Rose ($25). For Roses, the Mumm Napa Rose ($20) & Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noirs ($16) are a better value in my opinion.
At the moment, the Vintage Roses are out of my price range, but every so often I can indulge in one.

I suspect this beer will result in much pain if drunk in excess.

Last night I had half a bottle of Delirium Tremens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delirium_Tremens_(beer)). It's an import, comes in a hefty bottle with a CORK, and it's not quite like any beer I've ever tasted. Kinda sweet, kinda hoppy, extremely drinkable. I suspect this beer will result in much pain if drunk in excess.
And maybe, get to suffer from the "DTs" in the morning. :al
Edit: Forgot to add, also got bottle #111 of Roots EPIC Ale on tap for later tonight. 14% ABV. This sucker should be deadly. :al
