Dear Lord, Thank You.

I did a survey on Winslow Hill a few years ago and got to live with the elk for a few months. To see them in the deep woods in their real habitat, and to see just how huge and powerful they are crashing through the trees, is really something to behold. They plow out tunnels in the pines that you can easily drive an SUV through and never touch a branch. I made good use of the tunnels while we were setting line. It saved a lot of machete swinging.

Feeling at Home
|
I spend the longest night of my life is Sproul State forest backpacking on the Chuck Keiper Trail, We went out 2 nights after Xmas and were going to hike for 3 days after the first night when it was 7 degrees inside my tent we decided that we were going to get out of the woods and back to the trail head come hell or high water. I didn't see any elk, probably because were were all b!tching very loudly about our shoes being frozen solid till halfway through the second day.
