Re: GL Pease - Fillmore
Yes,
I would rub out this ribbon, but beyond that I would crack open the tin and let it sit for about a month. I know, but this blend is real deceptive. The casing used in this is pretty potent,...

Re: Can anyone tell me about canadians
Canadians? Well they are like the French, but haven't lost a war........... yet. ;)
Canadian pipes are good solid pipes. The Ben Wade's are nice. Buy one and let us know how it is.

Re: C&D black friget
It seemed harsh, and bitter on the top end and lacked any type of consistent flavor outside of the unsweetened cavendish. In reality, It was the first real time I have had a Latakia blend muted by...

Re: C&D black friget
No, I like Latakia, but I didn't think the blend had the appropriate balance to it. I would probably write that off to the freshness of Wrenchturner's tin. I didn't think it was bad, just not...

Re: Finally thinkin about getting a Quality pipe!
Bjarne's seem like that too me. They are good pipes, but they are a ***** to break in. I like the Nording Freehand pipes. They are friggin' nice, and for the money they smoke like they have been...

Re: C&D black friget
Black Frigate is a pretty good blend, not a bad smoke overall, but it did have some limitations. I would like to try it again in the future, but I wasn't that impressed with it overall. :2

Re: Whats in your bowl?
I really like the GLP Westminster. I managed to garner a 16 oz. tin for around $30 over at Low Country when I visited there (scratch and dent sale). It is a very complex blend with leathery and...

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Low Country Waccamaw in my new Nording Freehand. Definitely has improved since I last smoked it. It's going nicely with some JBM blend coffee on the side. :D

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
I dropped a C-note at Low Country Pipe and Cigar yesterday. They had a ton of stuff in the scratch and dent area (mostly dent).
Final count:
1 100g Tin of Rattray's 7 Reserve Medium
1 100g Tin...

Re: 1 year ago
Yes,
Congrats on the anniversary! Ever since suffering unemployment in August I have switched over to mainly pipes. The cost tends to be lower, and my own ignorance of pipes, and pipe tobacco...

Re: Esoterica "And So To Bed"
I haven't had "And So to Bed," but I can vouch for Penzance. It is an excellent full bodied blend that smokes well just about any time. :2

Re: Balkan mixtures
Balkan Sasieni is good Balkan blend. That was one of the first blends I ever smoked. C&D makes a good Balkan blend called Super Balkan. The best thing to do is just find different Balkan type blends...

Re: Your CA Pipe - Dedicated?
Yes,
I have a Meerschaum that is dedicated to 1792 flake. I got a new pearwood pipe that is used for heavier blends (English or Latakia blends).

Re: Sam Gawith 1792 Flake
I will say this, the reports of 1792 Flake of being this ass-kicking powerhouse are highly overrated, It is a smooth, strong blend that has wonderful flavor. Still one of my daily blends!
