I'll start off. This is my sharpei Killian. These were just taken this past weekend while my fiance and I were camping in PA.

He's trying to cross a log over a pool of water at the base of a waterfall because I did and was on the other side. Pretty brave for him if you knew Killi.

He's exhausted after a long day of hiking to the falls!

All nice pics of your pets. I like pits as well, they are good dogs when brought up in a good home. My uncle had one named Rippy (Ripples) and he was a great dog.

Question for you German Shepard owners, do your dogs bark a lot? Reason I ask is every german I pass is always barking like crazy.

Costa

Not more than normal. There are a few differnet ones Macy has; a "I hear something" bark, a "holy ****, thats the doorbell bark", and the one that scares me, the "YOU LOOK LIKE THE *#&&#$@! THAT TIED ME UP FOR 5 YEARS TO A TREE". THe last is troublesome, based on her past, and I am trying to work on it.

Funny thing - the first time he saw smoke coming out of my mouth, he flipped out! Ran and hid behind the couch. I couldn't help but laugh - poor little guy. He's better now, but still doesn't like the smell of my breath after a smoke! :ss

Wouldn't be fair if I left out Brett (yes, named after Favre). Here is the tale:

I have occasionally fed the swans in front of my house here and there, if I was outside. This past Feb. I come home from a hectic day at work to find a swan in my driveway. Have never seen them out of the water. I get out of the garage slowly (there things are HUGE), not sure if its rabid or what. It just starts following me. I go in the house, it stays at the foot of the front porch. I notice blood. Ugh, I'm like "wtf", it was so cold, he was hurt, and I felt awful.
Pic of the swan actually trying to get up the stairs:
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i154/costa_2006/IMG_0808.jpg

I managed to coax him under the back deck, make him a bed. I find a pretty deep gash under his leg, so bad that it squirts blood when he tried to walk. Get him under the deck, where he proceeds to eat a loaf of bread and drink almost a gallon of water (in a soup I made). Made him a little "house" out of a cardboard box.
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i154/costa_2006/IMG_0813.jpg
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i154/costa_2006/IMG_0812.jpg

After a few weeks (and TONS of swan sh*t), he starts to venture out into the yard and is gaining strength and balance. I can tap the stop of his head, and he seems comfortable around me.
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i154/costa_2006/IMG_0826.jpg

I finally get him down to the ocean, where he seems to be walking better.
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i154/costa_2006/IMG_0822.jpg

He would sleep in front of the house (you can make him out, his head is buried somewhere in his wing, and he is on only one leg, keeping the hurt one up). NO matter the weather, windy, rain, sleet, that is where he would stay.
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i154/costa_2006/IMG_0859.jpg

Eventually, he left for longer periods of time, until he showed up this summer with a girlfriend. I would sit on the beach, smoke a cigar, and feed him, as he would come right up, while his mate stayed in the water, as she was much more cautious.
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i154/costa_2006/IMG_0987.jpg

Yesterday, he brought over one of his babies, not real little, but grey, and they both ate some bread. So, I kind of consider him my summer smoking partner, and kind of a pet.....

TRUE THAT!!!

He can be 10 feet away when I walk in the door at night and I'll still be covered in doggie drool! He's not a drooler, it's just that he can lick me from that far away!

Great dog though. He's about 6 months old now, and is amazingly calm for a Boxer, and he has only torn up a couple of things. Has a dozen or so voice commands down pretty well too.

They never grow into their tongue.

Nice looking Schnauzer. A friend of mine had one years ago. That dog could rip farts like nothing else. Cleared quite a few rooms!

Here's our two dogs. We got the Min-Pin when we realized last year that it was only a matter of time before we had to put our Dalmation down. I think she kept him going longer than he would have if we didn't have her. After he passed we decided to get a rescue so that our Min-Pin Mya would have company. So now we have these two peas in a pod, Mya and Mika. They got along instantly and never leave each others side. Mika is a Carolina Dog(American Dingo)/Mix, just fancy for mutt

This is a more current picture of Nanook, a 13 year old Blue Point Himilayan. He is the relentless sorter of cigars when I am redoing a humidor and the fearless chaser of sleep. In this picture he is doing what he does best, testing my recliner and checking his eye lids for light leaks. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk165/taltos_01/Nanook.jpg He is also my best buddy and my alarm clock. Currently he is sitting on my desk while I am using the computer and also testing my breakfast bacon to make sure that it is up to standard.

Bismark was rescued by my Brothers and I.We moved our company to a new property and there was a closed junkyard next door.Turns out that Bis' and another dog(Hunt was his name) were left there tied up,the place had been closed for a week or so.If we hadn't come along....

Since I am now a full time stay at home Dad we (the family) decided we would be able to get a dog now that there will be someone home to care for him (me).

Personally I think my wife wants the dog to care for me.

Anyway here is Marley, he is a Labradoodle, or a Miniature Poodle Labrador Retriever Cross. He is a great good mannered friendly smart little critter, gotta say its great to have a dog in the house again. He is 14 weeks old in these pics, which were taken today.

This is Ozzie, our year old American Cocker Spaniel, and Samantha, our 19 year old Siamese cat. Samantha died today after living a full, adventurous life. She was a stray that my wife rescued back in 1992. Age finally caught up to her, and she passed away quietly in her cat cube this afternoon. I took this picture this morning, after Ozzie finished giving her a tongue bath (which pretty much just meant he licked off all the dried catfood stuck to her face.)

We buried her tonight in a cardboard box (from Cigars International :tu) in a little, wooded section of our backyard where she used to stalk birds.

My dog can be accident prone. Took him to the park to let him run on Sunday and boy did he tear it up. Walked back home and blood starts pouring from his foot. Came close to opening a blood vessel in the foot, but the emergency vets said all it needed was a couple of staples. The staples cost $2.16 but the bandage was $40 :r

I used to live in a licensed venom lab, and yes I personally have massive stocks of antivenom cuz momma didn't raise no dummies. Currently my scale-kids are in the museum that I worked at until just recently. At some point, when I can settle down and rebuild the lab, they'll be coming back home. I have an annoying number of hots, but not as many as I used to.

Here is Mako. My fiance and I brought home this little guy 3 weeks ago. At 13 weeks last Friday he weighed in at 18.6 Lbs. 8 Days prior he was 2 pounds lighter. He looks different every morning. It's been a lot of fun over the last Month to watch him grow.

Watching for the postman?

Great looking Boxer, Wayne. One of my Boxers favorite pasttimes is to sitting on his haunches on the couch, leaning back against the armrest, watching the world go by outside the window. That and enjoying a cigar on the deck with me. He loves to chase the smoke and lap it up.

Watching for the postman :r:r, that's a great caption. I know I'm biased, but I've owned a lot of dogs in my day and I can honestly say, I'll always own a Boxer from this day until my last.
As far as cigars go, I thought my dog was the only one. He just loves him some stogies. Every time I clip the cap, he's just waiting for it to drop. He loves it!! You've got a great looking Boxer yourself, Steve. :tu

Yea, Riley definately knows what's about to happen when I reach for a cutter, lighter and cigar. I grabed a stick a few weeks ago and went over to the neighbors and left him in the house. NOT a happy pup!

After reading this "thread (http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=20871)" I thought I'd post up a few pics of my boys. Rusty is the stupid beagle and he is 15 years old now. TJ is 8 years old and is mixed, his mother is Blue Heeler and his father is Border Collie. I had actually gone to breeder to pick up a Blue Heeler - but god love him - I left with him.

Here they are together.

Old guy. Notice the tail is a blur though.

TJ intently surveying his domain for invading birds and squirrels.

http://www.dgdesigns.com/humidor/cigarasylum/TJRusty/TJ_1116.jpg

I often refer to Rusty as the stupid beagle and at times just plain stupid - but it's always a term of endearment. He is just hard headed and stubborn.

And there is this picture of TJ. I love this picture. I always visualize him thinking: "Damn I wish this ball was a cow or some sheep - anything, just anything that I could herd for once."

As soon as I can get them to sit still long enough, I'll post pictures of our four rats.

To anyone looking for pets for their kids, consider rats. Much more friendly than a hamster, more of a personality, and a slightly longer lifespan.
