I always wanted a dog growing up and about a year ago after we bought a house, we got Crick who is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

I never thought we would become so attached to him, but he is basically our child at this point in time.

Great dog, a little needy and he really doesn't like to be home alone, but besides that he is great.

We got two Miniture Poodle puppies back in 1997. One was nearly white and the other a little darker. Their father was named Jack Daniels, so we named the pups Scotch and Soda. Unfortunately, Scotch got his wires crossed and had to be put down. When we got another pup we decided to move away from the alcohol theme and went to a Water theme.

Here are our Miniture Poodles Soda (white) and Perrier (Black).

We also have an Okeetee Corn Snake (Mr. T) that we got back in 2004.

The dogs do not like the snake and the snake does not like the dogs :)

BTW CigarNut, that's a beauty of a corn snake.
We also have 2 brown tabby's, a beta fish and a hermit crab. No pics of those.

Buck is a rescue. They told my brother he was a boxer/lab mix. I don't think so. Looks more like Pitbull/Ridgeback to me.

This is Bugs, she just walked into our old house one day and never left. I named her bugs because of her eyes. Bugs loves to cuddle and headbutt when I whistle real soft, she gets her purr box all fired up!! I have never had my own cat and wasn't really in favor of taking her in but she has grown on me and is now Daddy's girl. I can't believe she does what she does when I whistle, it's like catnip to her (which is her other vice, she loves getting loaded on the nip!!)

This is Bohdan. Bodie for short. His registered name is Dan and Jenny's Bohdan Asher. This was an early shot of him still in darling puppy stage. He is very smart, potty trained on the third day home and using his dog door on the 4th day. He was born at the end of October and came to our home a couple days after Christmas. He was a Christmas gift from some friends who breed labs.

Bohdan now weighs close to 75 pounds, I will have to get another picture of him. We haven't been taking any lately. He comes from a line of labs that are notorious for being 105 lbs on the males. He's such a gentle guy and loves his mommy very much. He gets up on the bed and cuddles Mommy and licks Daddy's face to wake him up in the morning. He treats Bugs like a little sister and is very kind, playful and gentle. His nuggets are still hangin', plan on studding him out but I am new to all of that. I have all his papers and family tree and all that stuff so I will have to hit the internet and do some research at the AKC site and learn.

They're great family dogs. Good with kids and stuff, really the epitome of 'Gentle Giant'. My wife and I got one when we first got together 11 years ago. She lived til 9 years old. Only drawback of the larger breeds is the shorter life span.

They're excellent at guarding property too. :D A great saying I heard years ago was: "Shepards will bite your arm. Mastiffs will walk away with the arm." :r

Story Time: We have a dog door on our back door, but it's a bit small. A border collie would brush it's back on the top of the dog door walking straight through. Our mastiff never had any trouble going through it though so we just left it that size. About 4 years ago when we still had our old Mastiff a UPS guy came up to the door with a package. He walked in the gate (4' Chain Fence) with the 'Beware of Dog' sign on it, and right up to the door to knock. Our dog barked, and went charging toward the door and out of it. My wife saw the UPS guy take off running and he jumped the fence like it wasn't even there. :D My wife went out to talk to the guy and asked why he walked in the back gate past the sign and he said he saw the dog door but figured because of the size we probably had a little terrier or something. Oops. He couldn't believe he actually cleared the fence. :=:

Wow! did that story hit home! My dog Max came from a shelter also. He was labeled as aggresive and scheduled for destruction the next day. I was working with GSD recue here in Phoenix when I took him in for foster. They had completely mislabeled him. 6 years later, he is an amazing dog. I have raised GSD's all my life and Max is one of the very best. You have a very beautiful dog. I just went through bloat and stomache inversion with Max so I know it can be expensive. Almost lost him. But it was worth every penny.

This is Macy, I got her from the shelter 24 hours before they were putting her down. Had been tied to a tree for 5 years, literally tied up, winter, summer, had soars on her body. Spent over $1k getting her healthy......she is a little on the over-protective side, well, actually, a lot on the over-protective side...lol. Now she is a completely spoiled beach bum dog....lol.

Here is a pic of my Chihuahua Benny. I affectionately refer to him as "Lil Bastard" or guido. He is the alpha dog with his iron fisted personality. He has liver shunt disease so it's a real joy to see all the new hair he has grown since putting him on a medicine regiment. I am trying to save up money so that he can have an expensive operation so that he can lead a full life. Anything with a mohawk like that deserves that chance ;)

Been a Hell of a day here.... Kane went for an adventure. He was having a visit to play with 2 friends while we were having a birthday party. Well....he made an escape from their yard. Been there MANY time and no issues, but somehow today....?

Anyway, after hours of searching....found a posting on a local site, saying they found our dog and he was with the authorities.... So he has to spend a night in jail and we can pick him up in the morning.... Never been so happy to know I am going to be a little lighter in the wallet.....

Being that Scout died the day before the Little One's birthday last year.... Losing the new dog on her birthday may have been more than I could take....

Kane is safe....just a night in the klink... Things could be worse....

my pit Xena tore her ACL in her leg...and yes i forked out the 1500.00 for the surgery. stitches come out the 11th

My ridgeback did the same thing in both legs about a year apart. He ended up having to go under the knife 4 times. 2 for the surgery in both knees, 1 time emergency sugery because he tore out the stitches at night and licked almost all the way down to the plate, and the last surgery because one of the screws was backing out so they had to go in and remove it.

Unfortunately, Sophie is hard-wired like a rooster to wake me up every morning between 6-7 AM, when I have zero reason to be up then. Worse, once I'm awake, I can't ever fall back to sleep. :bh Thank heaven for coffee.

Anyone have any tips on breaking the whining habit? I don't remember my last pup being this vocal! We got the pup from a breeder who has a really social pack of about 20 dogs. The pups run around free with the pack. I understand she is more than likely missing her mom and brothers, and is only 9 weeks old.

I think he is retarded. Damn dog tried to steal my food even when I feed him first, he drinks beer, chews bubble gum, eats anything, and ALWAYS sticks his nose in any women's crotch and rear end....

My oldest son's dog, Zuli. We had her last weekend while they were out of town. Never seen such a spoiled big whiny baby. She actually made my dogs worse, they continue to whine for stuff even a week after she is gone. Bad Zuli!

We call her Momma, she is 3.5years and 60-65 pounds.
We took her from a friend who couldn't afford to keep her when she was about 1 and needed a cherry eye surgery.
We see a skin specialist about once a month and have to give her tons of pills everyday.
She has a ton on allergies and a skin disease called pemphigus (not sure if thats how it's spelled).
We love her, she is our daughter. If it wasn't for her condition I would have a huge cigar collection, haha.
