I might be reading too much into it but I think the show captures an old school conservative Southern patriarchal society. All the male characters pretty much call the shots with the women as domestic help, although Lori and Andrea are starting to brake the mold. Yet it does kinda grate my nerves that according to the show, all Southerners drive mostly old vehicles etc. If you watch closely you'll notice that the TV in Hershel's home looks like its black and white from the 70s :2
I did notice the the TV set, yet the kitchen appliances were modern!:sh
In my experience, they DO all drive old vehicles in the South....or maybe just in Memphis.
They all drive so bad that to get a good vehicle would just invite trouble. It's a lot like
washing your car before a rainstorm.

I'm bored, this show is starting to feel soo stretched out, like they only have enough material for one season but they need to make it last for three. I think I am done going out of my way to watch.

I am bad with names, haha. I don't have enough interest anymore although I have watched every episode intently and this last one was the when I realised I am not into it anymore. I will admit it, I can't take so much drama, AADD I guess. I loved season one, maybe I will go watch it again. Season two is 90% boring IMO with a few interesting parts.
I am not bashing this show, it has many followers. Just not for me anymore.
I remember Shane's name :r and Carl. I was thinking here name was Lori but it doesn't sound right in my head.

I kept thinking that too. Especially since they kind of dragged that scene out a little bit.
There were definitely some tense moments in last night's episode. I didn't see it coming when Rick got that kid off of the fence. Yuck. The gore quotient seems to have gone up this year. I find my self having to watch each episode with a pillow in my arms so I can cover my eyes. Of course I never could watch ER due to the gore, and certainly there were times in M*A*S*H* that I had to turn away too... Maybe I'm a wuss.

Best line from last night, "Ya' got any cooze?" as the guy stands pissing on the floor of the bar.
This was totally messed up to me. Granted, it's the zombie apocolypse and all, but come ON.
People might want to go back in there one day for liquor or even to hang out once they basically
kill all the zombies in that town, which COULD happen. Now it smells like pi55 and dead guys. :td

I thought the most recent episode was great. Things are starting to liven up I think.
I will keep this thread jack to a minimum, but I had a great big laugh the other night, I was watching The Mist,
which in the end was a bit of a waste of time, but it was great, within 5 minutes of film, THREE actors from The
Walking Dead appeared in the cast. First Carol, then Andrea, then Dale. What was a trip was that Carol still
had her same cancer-survivor hairdo.

Great epsiode last night. Why in the hell did Rick come back for Shane? After all that sh@t, I'd have left him for Zombie Food. And Andrea is getting on my nerves...hell...so is Lori...someone needs to get bit and turn. Why is Daryl hiding out in the outskirts collecting ears? And why does Carol keep bugging Daryl, like she wants him. MORE ZOMBIES!! Loved the zombie sandwhich and the zombie waterfall. "We need to use our knives more". :tu :tu
Darryl is likely just now having the time to digest the vision he had while he was arrow-stuck.
His brother appeared to him and chastised him pretty good for being everyone's be+ch.
I would imagine this was bound to happen.
Carol is coming down after her big loss and the finality of it to remembering him kind of rubbin
up against her a little bit during the search. She has seen the good side of him and he is RIGHT,
she IS ALONE and she does want to try and hook up with him because she is scared and alone.
I think it might still happen. At least in the episode RIGHT before his brother returns.
As for Shane, I agree, there is no way I would make the block and pick up Shane, he made his
bed. But this is just Rick again, he SEES both sides. Before the ZA, he worked with Shane,
likely was a bit turned off by the whole super-jock machismo, but thought, you know, that's
just HIM. We work together, that's my friend, I will have to just live with what I don't like.
It's all part of Rick's character. He knows HE IS RIGHT and he needs to give Shane time to
come around. At this point it is hard to SAY who is right. Or who's management style keeps
the group safest.

AMC does a "Behind the episode" after each one with the actors delving into their characters actions in each episode. I at first agreed with you, Brad, that Rick should've left his @ss, but the actors who play Shane and Rick address why Rick needs Shane and couldn't leave him and their points made sense to me. Rather than rehash it myself, here's the link:

Haha, I liked it. I checked out the video and they basically said what I thought.
Rick wants to leave him, knows he deserves to BE LEFT, but the white side is
nothing without the black, he loves Shane because of what he was when they
were just buddies, he needs Shane to make whatever he is fighting for worth
having in the end.

Tension is getting thick. They both need each other as they are best fighters. Loving this season!
I am going to watch it here in a bit...glad to hear there are lots of zombies about.
I also want to curb some of my enthusiasm from earlier in this thread. In defense of
why they don't pick up MP5s or M-16s that are lying here and there, I said "hey, the
zombies are not sprinters, they shamble everywhere...if you had bullets in your gun,
you would not be over-run." I guess I was mistaken. Lately they seem to have been
training or something. They can chase you pretty fast. I need to go back and re-watch
the seasons and see if they have altered the physics of zombiehood some or I was just
not noticing it. Seems they are speeding up, though. Anyone else seem to notice this?

Yup
Are the zombies faster this year?
So while "Sprinting Dead" doesn't quite roll off the tongue, "Walking Dead" is a bit of a misnomer.
To me it makes a viewer wonder....IS THERE a chance that these people are going to "wake up" from all this carnage
and zombie-ism? Maybe they are speeding up as they become more human. I mean I seriously doubt it, as do
all of you. But I thought it was my imagination, but maybe they are really being told to move faster to ramp up
the fear factor. Although we have had requests to stop with the references to the comic, I can tell now just
how SLOW this train is moving from having exposure to both the show and the comics. After having a major chunk
of my life stolen by that sham of a show "LOST", I can tell they are taking their sweet time over moving out of the
Greene Family Farm and getting to this other place they need to get to for the plotline. A much more secure spot. ;)
But you know they are going to try and make that location last a whole season like this farm BS. I still like the show,
if I had NO EXPOSURE to the comic, I would still think the farm series is boring me to tears, but the show is still
worth watching for now. I enjoyed the last episode I watched last night, they seem to be over way too fast for me,
though. I am just getting my Zombie boner and they go to black for the last time.

Great epsiode last night. Why in the hell did Rick come back for Shane?
Remember the scene where Rick is looking at the 2 recently re-killed zombie officers laying on the ground. He must be thinking that he can't leave his partner behind. Than he goes back and saves Shane.
There was a point when Shane was examining one of the re-dead zombie officers looking for a bit mark. Rick says they were probably infected by a scratch. What do you make of this? Do you think the "infection" spread through some other means?

Remember one thing that is perhaps a little too far fetched, but now starts to cozy up to some facts....
They could have found that fat walker in a couple of places, hell, they could have not even FOUND the fat
walker, it meant nothing to the plot progression. But they found him in a WELL....ground water. If there
is something in the water at the plant too, and it kills people, then we might be informed to the fact that
you can get it through water. So then it stands to reason that it can also be a bad deal if it's in the ground
water at the Greene Farm. Now couple that with the fact that the little blond girl, [last hope for some more
good group-greene love action], fell on the floor with a fever while washing dishes. Now I do not necessarily
mean that she was washing dishes, and that's where she got "da fever", especially since she also had a
close encounter with her zombie-mom. But I would say that if you get it through the water, it acts
really slowly. I still think Blondie could turn, then they will all be thinking, ahh, we should have let her
kill herself. Maybe we are intended to think that she got scratched, when she really is having too much
contact with well water? But again, if it's not a bite, but you can still die, it seems to work super slowly.
Of course I am just brain-stormin now, but look out for this water angle.

If its that easily transferable, why didn't any of the guys get infected when they were covering themselves with the zombies? Example T-Dog when he had that bad cut on his fore arm on the highway, Rick under the pile of zombies with open wounds.
I am not saying it's easily transferable, I am saying that things are starting to glob together in a clue-like fashion.
I have no idea what the contagion factor is not to mention a lack of desire to know, lol. A lot of times you have
plot quirks that are simply there to give the producers a way out of certain situations and into other plot paths.
Lost was littered with them, and most of them turned out to be useless BS. Edit a scene here, add a line there, and
you unlock these sleepers for your use in the show. Another example is this apparent speeding up of zombies.
I mentioned the movie The Dead earlier in the thread, and one thing I can say about that movie, the zombies never
once moved faster than a dragging shamble in the entire 2 hour movie. And yet they were still menacing. But here
in TWD, they seem to be newly invigorated....why? And again, I need to re-watch some stuff, see if they actually
are speeding up or NOT. It seems to me that if Shane and Otis had faced these sprinting zombies at the school,
both of them would be dead now.

I think you guys are putting too much thought into the fact that the zombies seem to be moving faster. Here's my theory about that: the director decided it would be more tense if the zombies could actually catch up to people. I'm seriously doubting it will have anything to do at all with the storyline.
There was a point when Shane was examining one of the re-dead zombie officers looking for a bit mark. Rick says they were probably infected by a scratch. What do you make of this? Do you think the "infection" spread through some other means?
Did you notice the pile of burnt bodies as well? Why would they be burning bodies? My thought is that everyone is already infected with the virus and if you die no matter what the cause of death then you become a zombie. It seems a little too coincidental that they would work it into the script that there are no bite marks on those zombies. It has to be part of the storyline.

Well, Mikey, I think you are more than likely RIGHT, however, I IMAGINED that the Producers/Director ''
had more 'integrity' and would stick with the precedent set initially, so therefore it HAD to be significant,
but in the end I am sure you are right...and looking for some directorial consistency in Hollyweird is asking

The more I think about this, the more it seems to line up. I keep thinking of Stephen King's Dreamcatcher, where Mr. Gray was trying to dump an alien body into the standpipe to infect the town. Not sure if that is overly influencing my thought, but what was the point to the whole "send Glenn down the well" scene? (And what kind of idiots are they to do that, anyway?)
One of the things that keeps bugging me is the rapid deterioration of Blondie. I think she was at the sink when she collapsed, and she sure looked pale & deathly for awhile laying on the bed. Now she doesn't eat and is obsessed with suicide. Maybe those are signs. It wouldn't explain why only Blondie is affected, when they are all drinking & washing from the same supply, but it has me thinking.
On a personal note, the healthcare worker in me cringes at the lack of universal precautions with all that blood spatter around. :D

I think if the walkers getting faster was a plot issue then it would be more obvious like Rick would say "sheet! These walkers are getting faster!"
Maybe the cops poisened themselves? Hard to say. I just think it's very interesting that there were burnt bodies and that the camera was very specific about focusing on them.
With them getting granted a third season, It is unlikely to resolve itself soon, or I would say hey, we'll find out
Sunday, haha. Who knows when we will know. But yeah, I think Rick WOULD say such a thing.

I'm guessing this is why they have made a couple of points about the water supply. With the well thing, and the water treatment plant or whatever it was. Could also be why they burned some bodies there. A futile first attempt at eradicating the problem.

I clearly watched Shane cut his hand, wipe it on the doorway of the school bus... A zombie licked the blood... Shane stabbed the zombie in the head, then wiped his cut hand at the same place the zombie licked, to attract another zombie. WTF?

Undoubtedly AMC leaked a major spoiler in a brief advertisement for an advance purchase of the box set of Season 2. The link below is a harmless article about the leak w/o any spoilers but they also provide a link in the article that shows the spoiler. I like to be shocked/surprised with my shows so I stayed away like the link was a snaggletoothed woman with a unibrow :lv. Just in case some of my fellow Walking Dead BOTLs happen to like snaggletoothed women with unibrows :xxx, this link takes u to the article that has the additional link to the spoiler.

No one likes a whiner, although I would like to remove Shane's nutzak so he
would CHILL THE F OUT now and again.
Carl and his Sea You En Tea mother need to wake up and realize they are no longer in the old world.
Put two in the back of the head of the kid from the outsiders group. End the drama and the waiting
game of who gets it first through his treachery.
All that said, I don't get to watch the episode til tonight, so I am as spoiled as spoiled gets. But I know

On the part of Dale's demise, I think he did provide a good opposing view--his argument around maintaining civility, a grip on humanity, etc.--were all good points.

First of all, I love this show!!!!:noon
Dale was the moral compass of the group, but unrealistic of what is going on. It is survival of the fittest.
I wouldn't kill the kid in the barn, I would torture his ass for info, about where his "group" was and the next time they when on a scouting trip, ambush them and take their weapons. Then I would kill him. He is associated with a group of people who tried to kill , the group and he admitted he stood buy and watched the other members of his group rape 2 girls and made the father watch. That should have been brought up in the meeting. Trust is the most important factor in any relationship.
Second, I would lock down everyone. WTF are people just meandering around alone, by themselves for? There are Zombies all over the place!!! Hello!!!
And that's another thing, Where are all the zombies? This story takes place North of Atlanta. Do you know how many people are in this area?
Another thing, why aren't they, getting more supplies? When they went to that bus yard, why didn't they drive that fuel truck back to the farm? I woulld make it a point to get as much equipment, fuel , earth moving equipment, ect. to the farm and start to make the farm a fortified compound.:D
I know, I know...it's only a story.:)

I liked Dale, the group needed a guy just like him. It is one thing to lose bodies,
especially women, it's another to lose knowledge. Dale has a skill that no one
else seems to possess, automotive maintenance. Lots of people in the group are
hotheads, a few can breed, some can cook and clean. But Dale was something
annoying but neccessary, like me. Sort of glad he is gone, but it is not a "nothing"
loss by any means, like the kid.

If you back up a couple of episodes, Shane was nursing an injury on his arm, one that looked like a bite. I remember the scene where he was sitting at the water pump cleaning it and the missing kids mother came walking up. This would have been before they opened the barn.
So maybe he has been infected for some time and the virus had enough of a hold on him that it reanimated his very quickly.

I forgot about the Herschel quote but that fits in with what I was thinking about after the episode. Remember their discovery of the policemen who were zombies but not bit and when the CDC guy whispered something into Rick's ear at the end of the Season 1 finale?? I think it's airborne and/or water supply and everyone's infected and turns once they die. Also solves another logistics issue I had that if people only become zombies if they're bitten or scratched, seems it would be easy to contain and exterminate. But if everyone turned once they die, we'd be in some serious sh*t
It's gonna be a great season finale next week. Zombies in the front yard!!! :wo :wo
I'm expectin' some western style gunplay next episode baby! To quote my favorite one-liner from the season:
"T-Dog, get the shotgun!!" :r

Ya know, the one thing I hadn't really considered is that Dale didn't turn. That shoots a hole in the soon as you die theory, doesn't it?
Dale wasn't dead when the zombie got him, Darrell put a bullet in his brain which would have prevented the "zombification"
He was also in close combat with them at the water treatment plant, so perhaps he got scratched or some of their slobber got in to an open wound (like when he was wiping his blood on the bus doorframe.) I still think it's possible that the water is contaminated so they could all be at risk. It does seem that they are all latent carriers, though--the hostage turned, too.

If they follow anywhere close to the comic like they have been........it's coming....shhhhh......that's not a spolier, because I don't know, but if you have watched the talking dead they have mentioned this.
Back to what we were talking about 3-4 pages ago, NOW THAT'S something I would pick up off the ground!
Give me a nice sword that I could swing and decap a zombie with one swipe. They need to go to the site
of a Renaissance Fair or something rather than a military encampment, though. :r

In the Past Episode "Nebraska"
The Bar Scene when Rick Shot (Rene, from true blood) during the quick draw he got him in the head.
When he Shot the big guy he got him in the mid section and the heart.
He was dead he went back and finished him off with a shot to the head.
Did Rick think then that people come back?
Just an observance.
I can't wait for Next week.

I think so. The guy from the CDC must have whispered that to Rick.
The creators obviously want to tantalize the thinkers among you while feeding the casual viewer with the feeling
that Rick was just really pissed off and wanted to finish him for good. Also a couple of gut shots is just going to
draw out the death, which Rick is not into. But we shall see.

I think the key would be to go back to when they are trapped on the road in the beginning of this season. Before that herd of walkers came they see several dead people in their cars that are not zombies. If every one of them has some head trauma, then the creators were trying to be clever about something. Because other than that, Shane and the prisoner kid, Randall, are the first people we've seen in the series die from "natural" causes

With all those zombies rushing the farm, I can't what options they have outside of having some "last hoorah" sex and/or driving away.
If they had machinery, they could've built a moat around the property, but not very realisitic.

It was interesting when Shane was turning into a walker all those flashes of walkers. It was like he was connecting to some kind of hive mind as he was changing into a walker. It didn't seem that the walkers were attracted by the gun going off but rather their new connection with Shane.
