Iron Maiden in Chicago a few months ago. Was very excited been a fan for over 20 years and finally got a chance to see them. Also went down with my best friend a week before he got married so it was a great night out. We smoked a couple 98 Party Charlottes on the drive from Madison to Chicago.

I saw Living Colour in 1989 at CCSU (small college in Connecticut) with about 200 people in the hall. I still remember it being one of the best live shows I've ever been to.

I went to the Mayhem tour this last summer. There was a total of somewhere like 40 bands there. It included the likes of Slipknot, Disturbed, Rise Against & The Vandals... It was 113* outside on the black top.... I got fried, but good times were had by all.

I freaking love the Greek too. We were supposed to go see Journey / Cheap Trick / Heart there last month but our contact fell through with the tickets, dabnabit. We saw Firehouse / Quiet Riot / Ratt / Cinderella there about two years ago.

Last show we went to was Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) / DOKKEN / POISON in Pittsburgh in August. Freaking rocked!

The last concet I attended was quite a concert. I made it down to Austin for the "Austin City Limits Music Festival" for the 4th year in row. So, three days of music, cigars, libations and scantily clad beautiful babies.
Some high lights:
1. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss
2. Beck
3. Robert Earl Keen
4. Iron & Wine
5. Band of Horses
6. Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings
7. Okkervil River
8. Foo Fighters
9. Drive-By Truckers
10. M. Ward
11. John Fogerty
I could go on and on, the line up never disappoints. The only problem was a few schedule conflicts, but over all a great, great time as usual.
If you've never made it to this festival I suggest you try to next year.
God, I love MUSIC!!

Last one I went to was Rage Against the Machine at the Target Center when the RNC was in town. AWESOME show! Crowd was totally pumped and into it. The energy unbelievable! I was still bobbing my head to what I remembered hearing a few days later still. :D It took a while for my hearing to fully regain my hearing afterwards.

As the RNC was going on in town, the security outside the arena was beefed up, and there was a huge contingent of cops in riot gear waiting. There was an obvious attempt at intimidation of the concert-goers. But, there was no violent incidents. There were just people arrested for blocking the street and not wanting to move.

It was a great show... short, but great. They started promptly at 9:00 and were off the stage by 10:19.

The highlight for me was them playing "Heaven Tonight"... I have never heard that one live before. My son was excited, he was amazed that they sounded so much better live than they do on CD.

Dream Theater, Zappa Plays Zappa, Queensryche, Bigelf and Reach the Summit (?) at Merriweather on Saturday. RTS was kinda boring, Bigelf sounds like a more hard rock David Bowie, Queensryche was ok, Zappa was kinda boring, DT was amazing; probably up there with Rush as one of the greatest live performers. Setlist was perfect: Started with A Nightmare To Remember, Prophets of War, Sacrificed Sons, A Rite of Passage, The Dance of Eternity, One Last Time, Solitary Shell, In the Name of God, and encore of The Count of Tuscany. Everything was played flawlessly and I'd definitely see them again :tu

Saw The Cult on the Love tour (Divynals opened) and the Sonic Temple tour (Lenny Kravitz opened). I agree that Billy Dufft is underrated. When he's allowed to do a longer solo than the albums permitted, he really shines. Did they have a rhythym guitar player? I heard they were doing that the last couple years.

Last night it was U2 with opening act Muse at the Meadowlands. This was my 5th time seeing U2 and sad to say, it may be my last. Bono's ego and political agenda never really bothered me, but when you can't get the words right to you own damn songs and then force feed images and political views down the throats of your fans, then I have a problem. Especially at $100 per ticket. I really want to say a lot more about this but I can't without violating the no politics rule here at the Asylum....so I won't. ;)

Not only messing up the words on a few songs, he sang the songs how he wanted to while the band played them the way they were recorded. Their sound was off for the first half of the show. :td

I'm not saying I will never see them again, it all will depend on where, when, and how much.

My latest "craze" has been watching Skillet. Never heard of them prior to April 2009 and have since seen them 7 times in the past 16 months or so. I'm taking my wife to a festival taking place at Universal Studios in Orlando in Sept to see them and a bunch of other bands as a very "delayed" anniversary gift. I grew up seeing groups like GnR, Metallica, ACDC, etc, etc in concert and I think Skillet puts on a better show yet. I like other christian rock bands like Decyfer Down, The Letter Black, Disciple, Flyleaf, Fireflight, Red, Sanctus Real, Switchfoot, and TobyMac.

I saw The Letter Black play a show about 40 miles from here a couple of weeks ago...I kid you not, there were less than 35 people in the entire theater, which included 3 bands, audio/video crew, merchandise people, promoters, concessions, and those of us that paid the $10 to watch the show. I felt so bad for them. Great way to meet the bands though. :)

Tom Petty this past Tuesday. Great show...played all the hits and only snuck in 2-3 of his new songs in the middle.

I have some Tool CDs, but I am not familiar with A$$hole, Brad. ;)\

Just found out Slash is the "special guest" at a Billy Idol show next week, trying to decide if it is worth $66 to see Slash play what will probably be a short opening set.

A$$hole.

I have seen everyshow in MN since 10,000 days came out. I even saw the one at the Orpheum Theatre. Small and sooo awesome. Wish I could have seen some Lateralus shows. They are my favorite band.

Tool is a very impressive outfit for sure. I was really bummed I didn't get to see them at the X when they rolled through earlier this month.:(

Billy Idol show next week. The Billy Idol part is worth his portion of the ticket price, even today, provided you like Billy Idol.

As for the comment right after "tool", I only HOPED he got the joke, lol.

I was just "helping". :r

I am still undecided about the show....I would not pay $66 to see Billy Idol in 2010, but add Slash into the mix....it's a dilemma.

Saw the Eminem/JayZ concert at Comerica Park on Friday night. Great show but the sound was subpar. I guess that's what you get for doing a rap concert in a baseball stadium, or any rap concert live for that matter. Rap music doesn't really translate from cd to live very well.

Dr. Dre, 50cent, D12, and Lloyd Banks all made appearances as well :)
