Our long lost Cancer Boy opens his mouth again....

"I just want to let everyone know that Matt Hasselbeck and I will be leading the Seahawks to the playoffs this season," Houshmandzadeh told Sporting News in June. "And we'll be going to the Pro Bowl as a tandem. We're both going to have top five seasons: He'll have a top five quarterback season, and I'll have a top five receiving season. I'll put up stats I've never had before yardswise because they're allowing me to be a complete receiver."

Most recently, he called out the Bears for not pursuing him in free agency, and Houshmandzadeh declared that he'd be open "95 percent" of the time against the Bears on Sunday.

The end result? Four catches, 35 yards, no touchdowns, and a lost fumble.

Glad someone else is now dealing with his idiocracy...good luck with your probowl....and how UGLY are those green jerseys, I think my TV wanted to explode on the game highlights.

now THAT was some piss poor football! I LOVE how the Bengals seem to play to the level of their opponents. A wins a win...but at this rate? I almost turned the TV off in the beginning of the 3rd quarter. No first downs at all in the 2nd & 3rd quarters. WOW...all goes to crappy play calling! Good job Bratkowski, keep up the "good" work!

They are definitely finding a way to win the close ones while looking like absolute garbage for all but one drive in the game. I fear there is no way they can continue to do this the rest of the season. Still have two games versus a very good Ravens team, at the Steelers and the Browns already proved they can play with them. We'll see if they can continue to be the heart-attack kids and pull out the squeekers. :hm

They need to get a kicker who kicks it more than 3 feet above the line and a holder who can get a snap down. :tu

The holder doesn't matter when the snap is 5 feet above his head. It was either the Denver or Green Bay game when it looked like he was snapping for a punt and went clear over the holders head.

One snap was his fault against the Broncos, which became a moot point on the final play of the game regardless. The two yesterday were Shayne's fault. ;s

That extra point only would have sent it to OT and there is no guarantee from there. And Shayne missed a kick at the end of regulation in the last game of the regular season against the Steelers that would have guaranteed a playoff spot. Never trust a kicker. :td

Bengals audition long snapper

By Joe Reedy • jreedy@enquirer.com • October 6, 2009

It appears that Brad St. Louis has held on to the long snapper job for another week, even though the team did bring in Nathan Hodel for a visit.

Tuesday, which is the players’ off day, is usually the day when teams bring in free agents for visits or tryouts.

St. Louis has had four errant snaps during the first four weeks of the season, including two in last Sunday’s 23-20 overtime win against Cleveland. Hodel was Arizona’s long snapper for seven seasons and played in 112 straight games before signing with New England during the offseason. He was released by the Patriots on Aug. 31.

Other options that the Bengals might consider are JP Darche and Bryan Pittman. Darche spent last season with Kansas City while Pittman, who is supposed to have a tryout with San Diego this week, was with Houston.

The Bengals did have college free agent James Smith in during minicamp, but it would be highly doubtful that they would replace St. Louis, a 10-year veteran, with a rookie.

St. Louis and Chad Ochocinco are the only players who have been on the Bengals roster since before Marvin Lewis became coach in 2003.

Yeah Steve, St. Louis needs to go. Adam doesn't think St. Louis needs to go, but when you only have 1 job on a team and you can't do it, you need to go. This isn't little league, this is the pros.

Learn some football Dan. ;s

The guy has less than 5 bad snaps in his career that resulted in missed field goals. Call the two last week bad all you want, but when the holder doesn't get out of his stance and the ball is down, you have to blame Shayne just as much. No one is calling for his head. Shayne used to be the most acurate outdoor kicker in the history of the NFL in 2005.

Like I said, if the ball is down, its no longer the snappers fault. Lets not forget that Shaun Rodgers has blocked 15 FG/PAT's in his career too. Call it what you want, but no one complained about the guy for the first 9 years and now all of a sudden Shayne gets two blocked and the Bengals still find a way to win and everyone is calling for the snappers head?

On a better note, we get to see if the Bengals even get close enough against the Ravens defense this week to kick field goals. :tu

Sure can. The first one (again) got blocked because Shayne kicked it low. The one he snapped to mid-field he got another chance because of the guy who was lined up over him. And they won. Just like a true fan, complain when they win.

I should have spread this out over 5 posts just to keep up with you.

Nice work by the officials calling three 15 yard penalties on the final drive. Of which one was legit, one was questionable and one was absolute garbage.

Shane kicked the 1st one low b/c he had to stop b/c of the high snap.

BS calls? How about the fumble that didn't get called a fumble in the 1st half. The official closest to the play called it right and the other refs overruled him.

I will admit the Bengals are playing good football But, they still have Pittsburgh coming up who is also playing very well. Tonights game with Denver will be the beginning of their run to the finish line that ends in Miami in early February. That's my :2!

ESPN reporting former Chiefs RB Larry Johnson is on his way to Cincinnati to sign with the 7-2, AFC North leading Cincinnati Bengals. Negotiations began early last week to add depth to the Bengals backfield. This has no relation to Benson injuring his hip on Sunday. He is expected to start this Sunday against the Raiders.

I like this move. Benson has been running HARD all season and has gotten a little beat up. If he can continue to stay healthy and Larry Johnson can spell him a couple plays here and there and give Benson a breather, it will do nothing but help us.

Leave it to Steelers fans to justify a loss and try to spin it. So it's the first time in 11 years, fantastic. The fact it that it happened, nothing can be said to change that. Now we own the top of the division. It's irrelevant what kind of game it was, it's who had more points when the clock hit 0.

Moving forward, not in the past. Raiders in 6 days.

First things first, your in a Bengals thread for Bengals fans. Instead of eating crow after your loss, you come in with comments such as:

Let me put it in perspective for you Bungles. What perspective? That you got outplayed this game and last game? That you lost both? That's the perspective I, as well as many sports critics in the country see it.

That is the first time in 11 years...11 years that your team is on top. And? It has been 11 years, so what? I guess because it's the first time we shouldn't be happy?

Still alot of football to be played. Indeed there is, but not much left in the AFC North that we now own.

Both offenses where shut down, today. Total Defensive game. Once again, so what? Ever heard of the saying "defense wins football games"? As a Steelers fan, you of all people should know this. You were just beat at your own game.

I have to admit, I haven't really respected the Bengals in the past, but this year they certainly have earned it. And if the Steelers can't go all the way, I'll be rooting for the Bengals. Time will tell who is truly a shi**y team. Yes! you whipped us and Baltimore but, do they have the ability to keep up their level of play for the 2nd half of the season? If they make it to the playoffs and get knocked out early it's all for nothing, right? :2

What was impressive, and to be honest, expected, was Larry Johnson rushing for 107 yards in the game. I've been saying it since the day we signed him, give him the damn ball and let him do what he does best, run hard and get yards. Without him, todays game is a whole different story. I'm glad Marvin sat Benson out. LJ gets some confidence, Scott gets his carries, and we go into the ladder part of the season with 3 VERY SOLID backs. Can't complain one bit.

I agree 100% :tu

What is even better is that there were no bad long snaps in today's game since we got rid of Brad St. Louis. Shayne Graham also had his longest FG ever today. He could have hit one from 60 yards it had so much distance on it.

Meaningless game? They just got trounced by a team they have to play again in 6 days. Don't for a second think that having 78 yards of total offense isn't a big deal despite the 'meaningless game' senario.

:tpd:

They played all their starters except for Benson till the 2nd half and were held to 7 yards offensively.

Study all the video you want. Most football games are won on the front lines and our O-line and D-line dominated the entire game.

If you think the game is gonna be completely different once your in the playoffs I don't know what to tell you.

Chad Ochocinco can't beat Revis, and Benson will struggle with our defense. And we can shred your defense with our run game as shown.

Doesn't matter how they played in the last game. The only thing that matters is how they play in the next game. I wouldn't take anything from this past game. Motivation is key in football games. Yesterday the Jets were highly motivated and the Bengals were not. The next game will be a completely different story (that may or may not have the same result).

Hahahaha... That's hilarious. So your saying you lost that bad because your safety and a DT is out. A DT who has no sacks and 12 tackles the whole year. Really?

You can spin it anyway you want to, Marvin Lewis had no intentions of "throwing the game". You could see him getting visibly angry on the sidelines. :r

We'll see if your "schemes" can win the battle of the front lines. I suspect they won't and that we'll see the same domination we did yesterday. :tu

Tom Nelson, the backup safety sucks. On your wildcat play where the dude busted it down the field for 70 yards, he totally missed the tackle. Crocker wouldn't have missed it.

Hmmm.......Interesting conspiracy theory.
Could they have thrown the game, knowing they would play the Jets again regardless of the outcome?
Could they have let the Jets win easily so come next week the Jets would be over confident?
Hmmm.......Where is Jesse Ventura when you need him?

Wow. There are homers and there are HOMERS. No one plays any game to lose. You are very confused to assert that they decided to not play the game and wanted to have 78 yards of offense and that the defense wanted to just give up 37 points for no reason. There is a sense of pride everytime you step on the field. They got dominated, and no one steps on the field and says, "I really feel like getting my ass kicked today so I'll just shut it down".
