I've had it before and it's an interesting and complex imperial stout. Not that balanced and you're definitely aware of the high ABV of 11%. If you like aggressive stouts, then you'll love this one.....I give it a solid B+

Picked up a 4 pack of Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale, and a "gift pack" of Hobgoblin English Brown ale, which came with a 550ml bottle of ale and a pint glass with the Hobgoblin label etched into the glass. For $8.99 I would have bought more if they had more than the one on display.

I was at the Sam Adams Boston Brewery on Monday and picked up one of each of the new Barrel Room Collection. Right now that's the only place you can buy them. There are three styles in the collection a Kriek, a Belgian Blond, and a Belgian Red. It's hard to tell from the picture but these are 750ml bottles (they better be I paid $10 each for them!). I think I'm going to age them a while before cracking them open.

I would have but there was a three beer per person maximum. :td
Also, considering it cost me $32 for the three I wasn't buying anymore anyway. They're very good beers but for an extra $6 on top of that I can buy an entire case of Dogfish 60 minute.

My understanding is that these are REALLY limited edition and even once the bottles make it out to the other cities listed above they'll be REALLY hard to find. I guess it's just a good excuse to come to Boston, take a tour of the brewery, and buy some beer. :tu

2 bombers of 2009 Double Bastard

The Dogzilla was a dog. Just not very good. I could care less about it not fitting a "style" of beer since it has both stout and IPA taste, but it just wasn't enjoyable.
The Iniquity is quite a bit better, but I still probably won't be buying it again. If only 21st Amendment Brewing would can Back in Black IPA... I'd buy it regularly. So far it's the only black IPA I've thoroughly enjoyed.

Ya that's the stuff. I couldn't find it at the local store, although I did not ask. The place down the street from me said if I want something they can get anything in stock. So I may ask them to grab some for me.
Picked up a 4 pack of SA Double Bock
24oz Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
24oz Lagunitas Imperial Stout
I doubt that will last me today and tomorrow, but the Jeep moves just fine in the snow :r

I was told by a friend that it is now sold in the states. I have yet to see it, but the guy said he drank some recently. Edit, just made it to the states in Sept '09. So might be hard to find at the moment or hasnt made it around yet.

Holy crap, I finally make it back to this sight and what do I find? BEER ****!!!
I'll break down and take a picture of my wine cooler that I'm aging some hard-to-finds in sometime soon.
Here's a list from memory:
westvleteren 12
rochefort 10
deschutes abyss 2008 & 2009
2 deschutes mirror mirror 2009
2 Sierra/dfh life & limb
2 Brooklyn black chocolate stout
firestone walker 13
and a bunch of homebrews that are waiting for the next NHC comp
I've got 5 gallons of a honey old ale fermenting and just pitched on a Scottish ale that I added 1# of pure grade a maple syrup from upstate NY to.
Beer has taken over cigars in my life once again.
Edit: I completely forgot the outside refrigerator:
a growler and a thirty five ounce flip top of the newest release of the southern tier choklat
a bottle of weyerbacher inferno
yeti
and some founders breakfast stout (still trying to get my hands on the Kentucky and the Canadian breakfast stout)

Golden Ticket Baltic Porter is only available on tap at the brewery! Here is their apt description: "An opaque dark brown lager with big roasted-malt flavor with notes of raisin, and milk chocolate. This Baltic Porter is profoundly smooth with a full, flavorful body, making it both drinkable and satisfying with slight hop presence and clean finish."
This porter is perfect with cigars!!!:2

Tyranena Bitter Woman in the Rye
Anchor Porter
Founders Breakfast Stout - I'm especially looking forward to trying this.

Love the Furious. I was also drinking the Surly Bender, CynicAle and Coffee Bender while I was in the cities over the holidays. Do you ever get down to the Town Hall Brewery at seven corners? Their Masala Mama IPA is outstanding. In fact I haven't tried a beer of theirs I haven't liked.
My other recent pickups have been New Glarus Snowshoe Ale (a longtime favorite) a four pack of Guinness for stew and some New Glarus Rapsberry Tart and Belgian Red as gift for a friend.

I bought a 6-pack of Sierra Nevada the other day . 1 each of the Glissade , Bigfoot , Stout , Porter , Pale Ale and Torpedo . After seeing all the talk about the brewery I figured I'd give it a taste .

One of my new favorite beers! Thick, malty, smoke flavors are crazy in it. The finish gave me a flashback of my old friends basement with the wood burning furnace going. It's very unique beer that I can't compare it to anything I have ever had.
If you enjoy thick malty beer with a bourbon taste I would highly recommend this.

Have yet to crack one.. What are your thoughts on it? Looks like a ideal beer to :set and forget: for a few years... Not sure if I have the best set up though, if anything I may leave one in my fridge for.. well... as Long as I am able too because when it gets summer time.. my house will be a little Warmer than 50-55* :r

It's a great beer. It's also seasonal and it's done for now until December. I got about 3 more places to check tomorrow. If not I got a four pack to last me for a bit.

Wow! did not know that, well damn I will have to snag another 4 pack if I get the chance, When is there going to be a Midwest Beer/herf? Alot of great beer geeks up here that would probably be a great addition to any pub or shack for a smoke and a few quality brews ;)

Stopped at the beer store this morning. I was just planning to pick up a 12 pack of a nice sessionable beer since I've got lots (too much?) of high abv specialty brews. But I saw this and had to buy it. I think this may be the first "really hard to find" beer that I've purchased. Cost $19 with tax, so I blew my beer budget for the week and don't still have much in the way of sessionable brews. :ss

Nemesis is a once per year brew done by Founders, this year being the first. Each year it will be a unique release. I understand that there were only 4 barrels made. It was due out in December, but they decided it needed more time in the barrels, so they delayed the release until February. I've got a cold, so I'm going to wait until I have my full sense of taste back before I open one.
Founders Description:
The 2009 release of Nemesis is best described as a Maple Bourbon barrel aged wheat wine holding 12.% abv and 70 ibu's. The barrels have been resting deep in the mines of Grand Rapids for nearly 9 months and have been most effective in developing a great product.
The Bourbon barrels we used in this creation were once used to age Maple syrup from northern Michigan, then emptied, and procured for our use in ageing this beer. The combination of American oak, Kentucky Bourbon, Michigan Maple syrup and our golden/tan wheat ale has provided a delicious malty sweet ale distinctive of strong vanilla and bourbon notes.
Here is a nice article and a very cool video down in the caves.

Great selection. I feel fortunate at the number of excellent micro-brews available here in Wi. Lake Louie is one of the best and almost no one out of Wi has access. I have been drinking the Ale Asylum hopalicious lately.
