I've been one since birth! Growing up, I was indoctrinated into Steel City USA by my Dad and his relatives. I'm a son of a son of a steel worker! Anyway, although I graduated from UCLA, the Steelers are the only team that I TRULY care about (given my roots)!
So please check in as you will...

HELL YA!!! Born and raised 100 miles NE of Pittsburgh, in Clearfield, PA. Was only 6 and 7 years old when they went to the Superbowl in 1974 and 1975, so I don't remember much.
But, in 1978 and 1979. WOW!!!! I can remember watchin' 'em play on the TV. Everyone decorating thier houses in Black and Gold. That's all anyone talked about.
My favorite players are Jack Lambert and Jerome Bettis.
But I tell you what..... I love to see our current Defense in action. Lamar Woodley is a freakin' beast.
HERE WE GO STEELERS!!!! HERE WE GO!!!!!

I wasn't laughing at the fact that Hines Ward broke your linebackers jaw and he's out for the season. I am a classy fellow FYI. Just ask Aladdin Sane...;)
And you were the one who meandered into a Steeler thread. I give you some props.....Bengals fans are some of the best when it comes to loyalty.:bh I know it's got to be tough.
I've disliked the Bungles ever since Kenny Anderson was thier QB.

The great thing is that they've been showing more games this year out of the left coast. Last weekend was great. We were scheduled to see the Buffalo game, but do to technical difficulties at the stadium, they cut to the Steelers game!!!

Giants were there for the taking, today! O-Line couldn't keep them off Big Ben....and Big Ben just didn't seem to have the zip on the ball today.
Big Mo changed on the snap over the punters head by the backup Long Snapper!
Damn....I needed you guys to beat them today so my Skins could pull even!

That was a tough game. We had moments of brillance surrounded by mediocrity. Nice goal line stand to keep them out of the end zone. :tu Ball goes flying over punters head. :bh UGH.

So I am sitting here having a good Thursday, doing a little channel surfing after the game and I come across ESPN2.
At the time I hit the channel, I am glancing at the tv but I see turf that is very familiar. It is Three Rivers Stadium, the year is 1996.
NFL's Greatest Games is on, they are replaying the 1996 AFC Championship. Harbaugh to Baily in the end zone to end the game.:tg
Watching that I could picture exactly where I was, what I was drinking, who I was with, and the feeling I had for the last 30 minutes of that game.
Not the finish I wanted obviously, but what a game.
See, I can be a nice guy. Came into the Steelers lounge here and thought I would give a little cheer to you all, because the Colts are gonna roll 'em up on Sunday.:bx

Hey, I'm sorry- That ball was still in the air and was heading to Wes Welker. IMHO that hit was legitimate! I disagree with the refs on that one.

Yeah, TO is back to his old tricks. He was probably crying that they should have thrown to him more. He's a great player, but I'm not sure if he's worth all the baggage that comes with him.
He may be an asshole, but he's probably right about throwing to him more often.
Cuz he can catch a ball thrown to him while running really really fast from other guys trying to kill him!

With no offense to speak of, I'm scared to death what's gonna happen to my boys the rest of the season. It's gonna be a hell of a grind.
I'd like to shake the hand of every one of the Steelers just for going out and playing 60 minutes of ball every time they hit the field.
If they don't score another point the rest of the season, they're still #1 in my book.
I couldn't be more happy with how Mike Tomlin has cleaned up the cocky disrespectful unsportsmanlike bullshit this year, too. Add that to the work ethic and team play they've shown this year and I can't think of another team I admire more.
They just keep getting better, too. I'm just flat all-around impressed with the entire organization, far more than any time in the last 20 years.
I learned a rule today, too.
I thought the ball had to break the plane, period. I didn't know your feet could be in and the ball out of the endzone and it still be a touchdown.
I like it, though. :D
Totally glad the Steelers won tonight.... Gotta say the TD call was close. Glad I didn't have to make it....

I don't think it was a touchdown. Sure, his feet were in the endzone, but the ball wasn't. It was not consusive enough in my opinion to overturn it.

Ben hasn't thrown the ball well for weeks. His shoulder's a mess and he's been a liabilty. Don't get me wrong, I love him to death.
I just worry that his bad shoulder is going to be the end of the Steeler's run. Add a headache to that and he just really needs a break.
Byron has shown he can get the job done. If Ben could get an extra week on top of the bye week, I really think he can take the team the whole way. If he's forced to play the first playoff game I think we're goin' home early.
I knew Ben would get hurt if he was in past the first quarter today and called it before the game. Why Mike had him in there in the condition he's been in is beyond me. I know Ben wants to play, but if he'd sat out this game and the bye week he'd have been in great shape for the playoffs.
I fear it was another "young coach" strategic misfire that's gonna cost us dearly.

I agree with you 100%. When I saw Ben playing today, I was like, " WTF? What is the reason would you put him in there?" Everyone knows that he has been playing hurt, and he has nothing on his passes. If the offense doesn't start to produce, this will be a 1 game, see you next year, playoffs for us. The defense can do it all.
When I was in Pittsburgh early this year I had the chance to talk to the Events Coordinator for the Steelers. He told me that when they gave Big Ben his new contract, the front office had to restructure alot of peoples salaries within the franchise, to come up with the money. :confused:Doesn't seem to me that they are protecting the franchise QB = investment. How many times he been sacked in the last 3 years?...... almost 150 times I think.
I just think that it was a real bad decision and missed opportunity for Ben to get healthy. We shall see in 2 weeks.
:2I just think that it is a waste of the best Steeler Defense since the Steel Curtain, not to do all you can to make the offense more productive.

Agreed,
I think in the last off-season, Tomlin and the rest of the staff really focused on bulking up the defense. Most of the early picks were for the defense and I think that it has taken fruit for this year with resounding success, but the offense was neglected. A big hole I believe was left by Alan Faneca who left for the Jets, I think the offensive line has suffered this year as a result of that. This off-season, Tomlin and the rest of his staff, needs to look for some really solid offensive line guys- the team needs people who can give Big Ben time to throw. That's the real problem here, that and Big Ben needs to get comfortable in the pocket again. Every time I watch him he looks like Ichabod Crane with the Headless Horseman coming after him. Good QB's are hard to find (ask Da Bears!), and the Pittsburgh better take better care of theirs.:hm

As for me, I spent all day yesterday doing two very un-fun things...

That game just about killed me.
Steelers are going to have to bring their "A" game to the Cardinals. If they play like they played today, there's gonna be some very happy Arizonans at the end of the Super Bowl.

If the Steelers pull this Super Bowl off, it's going to set off a lot of talk about "Best Team Ever". The schedule was supposedly the toughest ever historically in the NFL. They finished 12-4, and that's tough with a soft schedule.
The losses were all close, too.
I'm looking forward to the win just to hear the talk. :D

Been a Steelers fan since before I was born... this is going to be fun.
But lets not count the Cardinals out before the game starts, they have some GREAT players on offense, and our secondary isnt exactly best in the league...
Its going to be a great game!!

GO STEELERS! I'm here in humble Bagram Afghanistan, the game will be on at like 2 in the morning. I guess that means I will have to drink 9 Rip-Its to aid my sleep deprevation, but I will definitely be watching! I remember a few years ago when they were playing the Jets in the playoffs and it came down to a field goal and the Jets missed and we won. I swear to god I had tears in my eyes screaming "WIDE LEFT! PLEASE WIDE! YES!" Good times.

Man, what a game! My birthday is tomorrow, I couldn't ask for anything more for a present. Watching Hines Ward in the interview afterwords almost had me in tears. No Bull. They worked harder than anyone in the league this year especially with the schedule they had. We were going back and forth at the Tiki hut this morning, smoking Makers Mark, and Montes, thanks so much Tim! You are the best. I wouldn't want to see that game in any other way. Both teams battled so hard. What heart they all showed. Thank you Steelers!

Man what a pressure cooker! This was one of the most intense games I have ever seen. The only thing that game me more of heart attack was when The Steelers almost lost to the Colts due to Bettis' fumble at the 1 yard line. This was great game - Both teams played their asses off and deserve immense credit. GO STEELERS FOREVER!!!!:ss

Have you guys seen the 2009 schedule? HERE (http://steelers.com/gameday/schedule/) After having the hardest schedule in the league last year hopefully we don't blow it and go 8-8 like we did in '06. The Ravens look like they have their work cut out for them this year they have to play both Indy and NE (and the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers Twice)

Just watching SB XLIII again...
Right after the Cards scored a safety in Steelers territory (this is when i retreated to the bathroom and refused to come out, when it aired, cuz I didn't put bad mojo on the team...just like XL). Now the Cards have the ball 2nd &10 at their own 36ish and Fitzerald scores.
As I watch this time around, I find myself wanting to retreat into the bathroom again (hey, it has worked before so I thought it could work again). The Steelers are now down 23-20, but the away jersey is still working for them (it still gives me hope just like XL).
The kickoff and the final drive is alive. Yet, another holding penalty. Come on Steelers, you can do it!!! First down at mid-field with the clock ticking (1:08 left and hopes dwindling). Steelers take a time-out. 2nd & 6 with 1:02 left to go. Pump fake & Holmes and he gets to the Cards red zone (there's still hope). Roth grounds a pass to stop the clock..Warner looks nervous. Roth pumps and a missed connect to Holmes (0:43 to go). Santana straight up missed the catch...right thru his hands...Let's try again. New play...Holmes catches one in the corner of the end zone (the other corner). Was he in? It's going to be reviewed. Do we have a tap-tap? Tick...tick..tick. YES!!! After further review...it stands!!!
Kicok-off returned to just outside the Cards 20 (I'm still sweating it). Warner completes a pass to Fitz to the Cards 48 (time is a ticking). Arrington just got inside Steelers terriotry, to the 44. Warner scrambling...FUMBLE!!! STEELERS RECOVER!!! First to SIX!!!
Finally, Salvation. I find it just as hard to watch the replays as it was the first time around. GO STEELERS!!!
So, anyone know how I can transfer this great game from my TW DVR to my computer??? :ss

Now I wanted to keep this entry fee friendly to all. Some people don't have Cuban cigars, and not everyone has top of the line NC. So pm me if you have a question.
