For Christmas, my wife got me the "Be A Chef" experience at Benihana. I got to visit twice, once to train, and once to cook for my party. Believe me, it is WAY harder than it looks!
My Gangsta Pose ![]() Outside the restaurant ![]() Cutting off the shrimp tails ![]() Notice my Mickey Mouse head rice (We are on Disney property, after all) ![]() It was a great time, and one of the best gifts I've ever gotten.

I did do the onion volcano, but I was never able to catch the shrimp tail in my hat.
It was a blast, but I must say again, it is a lot harder than it looks. You need great knife technique, and a third hand sometimes because you have 3 main tools; spatula, knife, and fork. Plus, the table is very hot (500 degrees) and it sits kind of low for me, so I had to kind of bend over a lot, and my lower back was killing me after each course. It was TOTALLY worth it, though.

Looks like you had an awesome time. Good job on the onion volcano! i have seen the challenges on food network where even the seasoned chefs have a hard time with it.
did you get a chance to eat? |

Yup, I was able to sit, eat, catch my breath and relax after each course.

Nope, their restaurant is called Rice & Co. But it was a bit intimidating cooking faux-Asian food for a real Asian whose family also happens to be chefs/restaurant owners.
