Credit Card Comprimised

I know there was a thread out there on this but I could not find it.

Just got off the phone with Visa and 2,300 in charges was attempted today on my card.

This is a card that hasn't been used in more than 3 months, it is a spare we keep around in case of lost or stolen other account. Fortunately the people at Visa where on top of it as I have not checked this account in months.

Just a heads up seems there are a lot of them lately.

Sorry that this got a new thread but I couldn't find the old one and want to give you all the heads up.

Anybody that purchased smokes from one of the "big three" in the land of the Alps this year should keep an eye out on their cards until 2010 methinks!

I dont even own a credit card anymore. Cash only for this hombre. And my special purchases are made via Virtual 'One Time Use' Credit Cards.

And even those that didn't. Many more people have been hit that have never smoked a cigar or purchased them.

I have to say that it was really no problem for me. Visa has reversed the charges and is issuing new numbers all in one phone call.

I have been using a P*yP*l virtual MasterCard. I monitor the purchase, and as soon as it's been completed, I cancel the card so it can't be used for anything else.

You can choose for them to be good for only one purchase, that way you dont have to cancel it..
