I saw an advertisement for the Reyes family website and came across a very nice looking cigar from one of their brands called "Premier". For those that don't know, The Reyes family is the originator of Puros indios and i'm sure they have a couple other projects.
The thing that got me was the ad i saw on their website for the premier maduro (shown in a perfecto). It looks extremely tasty and i was wondering if anyone had any info on them? I searched on here and got nothing.... heres the only pic i could find on the site... ![]() Discuss? Edit - i guess i should have had this in "general discussion" although i would love to read a review if anyone had one! Sorry guys.

Ugh the word premier in reference to the Reyes Family is an oxy moron.

The regular version with the CR wrapper is a fuller bodied cigar than you'd expect from Reyes -- I liked it better than the PI line. Like a lot of PI sticks they tend to get flinty and unpleasant in the last third, but apart from that I thought they were pretty decent -- not stellar exactly, but an above average yard gar. I haven't tried the maduro yet though.

Well ladies and gents,
I got a 10 pack on "make me an offer" for 25.00 shipped. And i got a chance to smoke one last night. Bear in mind that it was my third cigar of the night and was less flavorful than i anticipated. I think i would enjoy it more if it was my first or second cigar of the night. It wasn't a bad cigar, it had an even burn and a nice open draw. The flavor was very cedarywith some black coffee aftertaste. The flavor didnt blast onto my tongue.. but like i said, i was drunk, and smoked an edge maduro just prior. Overall, i wasn't super impressed, but it was a decent smoke. At 2.50, i'm more than happy with my purchase.

You know, I find it difficult to fathom the problem so many seem to have with the Puros Indios line. Granted, I haven't smoked one that didn't come from before 1997, but...
PIs used to be one of my favorites - before the boom went bust. I am glad that I was "premier"ing my pipe and smoked minimal number of cigars for five years of the 21st Century. Since cigars now dominate my smoking rotation again, I haven't bought one. And seeing the reviews and hearing the comments I have heard, I doubt I will be making such a purchase in a while.

Ok, time to add my two cents :-) I have never smoke the Pirates Gold, but I have smoked the new lines, Premier, Classic, Vintage, Cuba Aliados Miami and they are great cigars. My favorite is the Vintage which is a rebrand of our Puros Indios Viejo line. The CA Miami is a new line that we roll in Miami, hence the name.
I cannot speak for what the line was in the past, but the current stuff, Puros Indios, Cuba Aliados, Reyes Family, Cienfuegos are great. Yes I might be a bit biased being a rep, but I would encourage you to try them again. As a cigar smoker, I love the Puros Indios and Vintage line. I highly recommend those two lines. Ignore most of the off brands that most manufacturers create. Most of the places those are created for, they just want a basic smoke. Go for the main lines. Questions, feel free to ask me! |
