What type of butane are you guys using for the Perdomo Thundra lighter? Does it have to be triple refined?

YES! Lava or Vector are very good brands.

I don't have that particular lighter, but I'll make a generalized comment regarding butane: don't skimp. The few pennies you might save aren't worth it, assuming that you'll even save anything. Sure, some lighters will burn anything, but if one craps out using crummy gas, then you don't know if it was the lighter or the fuel.

The better butanes don't necessarily cost more either. For example; Vector Signature which is 5x refined, costs $6 to $8 for a 10oz can at Williams-Sonoma cooking stores and Cigars International, and probably about the same elsewhere too. Guess what? a 2.75 oz can of crappy Ronson gas costs $3 at wal-mart. In the long run, you'll end up paying more by buying the chit Ronson gas.

Furthermore, butane is almost a negligible cost once you average out how long a can will last you.

Admittedly, I don't have any lighters that drink butane like the Thundra but, I'm still using the same can of Vector that I bought about 3 years ago - and it probably has about 3 oz of gas remaining. I guess I could weigh it and weigh the second can that I bought that I haven't even unwrapped yet to determine exactly...
