Chantix is amazing stuff man, I have had many patients quit no problem at all while using that med. It is alot better than getting wellbutrin or another " happy pill " to curb the issues while trying to ride it out.

Good luck and way to go! I quit cigarettes 23 years ago and it was rough. Three weeks of chewing gum and I had to stop that because my mouth tasted like rubber all the time. To this day I don't chew gum anymore. I didn't pick up cigars until around '04 (I grew up around them with my great-grandfather) and never have had a craving for a cigarette. The hardest part about it is the psychological part, wanting that smoke after eating, while driving, etc. No regrets at all here.
I had a heart stent put in this summer and I told all of the heart specialists about my occasional cigar and they didn't care a bit about those. I go through a lot of cigars during the warm months but few during the cold months. |

It sounds tough, but I've found it's easier than I thought it would be.
Today is day #28 without a cig for me, so I'm in the depths of my quitting right now. I've been to a herf and had a few cigars, but no patches, gum, hypnosis, or anything. The cravings are almost completely gone. It's the reflex habit now that I'm dealing with. Looking for my cigs when I leave the house before I remember that I don't have any anymore. Reaching into my purse when I get in the car only to discover I don't have any in there because I QUIT!! ![]() Stay the course and remember why you're doing this.

Thanks all, it will be tough after smoking for 37 years, but just getting out of breath climbing the stairs at work kicked me in the head to do something.

Best of luck to you bro!
![]() I had my last cig 1/29/01, the second time my lung collapsed. That made it easy. Can you say spontaneous pneumothorax followed by right upper lobectomy... |
