True. Compared to George Lucas and ILM nothing looks real.

Why not? Other than taxes. I figured a private enterprise would have done it by now.

In the name of science?

Science seldom needs a reason for research/exploration when questions about a subject remains unanswered.

I'm POSITIVE not everything is known about the Moon.

Maybe I've seen too many Sci-Fi movies, but I'd figured we'd be trying to find out how to support life on the moon by now. Send up a colony or something.

I agree, or perhaps to see if their is any Alien life up there -- see if things could sustain life, etc.

I'm not talking about finding Mork from Ork or whatever, but finding the potential to find underground dwellings there with some sort of life, certainly is not impossible.

I would definitely do that if given the opportunity. Unfortunately there's probably not much demand for professional writers in that field.

The mirror is to measure the distance between the earth and the moon. The moon is gradually getting further away from earth, by about 1/4" each year.

They did land. The vast majority of us weren't around to witness it. I was 3 months old. I did see OJ flee in a Bronco and that was on TV and very real. We did go back several times, but we had all the moon sand and rocks that we ever needed. Why keep going back, no military or civil advantage to it. We already had proved to the entire world we were #1 in the space race, so "yeah!".

As far as conspiracy theories go...I think the only one (and the biggest one) was the cost to get there. There is no telling how many millons of dollars went into research, development, and execution. What ever number you've been told or read about, I'd multiply it by 50 or 100, maybe more. The reason we beat everyone to the moon is due to the fact we had the money, they didn't. Look at nuclear weapons...as soon as we exploded one, other countries had them. They're way cheaper than a moon mission. Other countries knew how to get there (through various spy rings), they just fell short of money.

BTW...it tooks some kind of big balls to load up in a crude spacecraft and head 290k miles away and think you're coming home. I'm a country boy and a realist...I'm staying grounded and close to home.
