Brian Anderson has never lived up to his potential. What the hell are the Sox gonna do with him? At least with Kotsay, you had a reliable bat and the veteran presence....with Anderson, you get a unproven, .240 hitter with some speed.

Kotsay would have been outright released, the Sox would be happy to get anything they could.
