Yes, it's the connection speed. How fast you can upload and download.
You can check all sorts of places, but I use Comcast's own speed checker right here.

According to Comcast's speedchecker, my AT&T DSL is getting 1.313 mbps down and 0.315 mbps up. Not bad for a 6 year old DSL cable modem and testing from my netbook in the MMC, 40' away from the wireless router.

Thanks for the link, Scott! I'll have to try it when the boys are both online with their PS3's...

You're getting a little better than me down, but mine does a little better up.
I'm paying $27.95 for that.
What are you paying for your dsl? I don't have a phone line so it doesn't matter, I can't get it. Just wondering.

$26 / month, piggybacked on my voice line. I know that a lot of people are using VOIP for their home service, but as an old Bell System retiree, I like having an old-fashioned land-line for my house service. We use our cell phones for long-distance calls to avoid being raped by AT&T long distance charges.

Yup. I figured it at about the same price.
I used to have a land-line, but I never used it.
Then I got voip with my comcast and never plugged a phone into it. I couldn't figure out how to get it to work with the fax machine either, so I just left it unplugged.
So I can't get dsl at all. It's pretty bad in this area though, so it's okay by me.

Based on the Comcast test I am getting 5.114 Mbps Download and .640 Mbps Upload
