Something from Top Shelf Cigar - very tasty smoke but all I remember is halfway through it I was swallowing a bunch of sugar so I could make it all the way through

I got a couple of laughs out of this thread and a couple of ideas...
The only one I remember really kicking my butt was a RP Sungrown at a Gator game. Now I had been drinking... but I was sitting in one of those really low slung chairs... and when I stood up I nearly fell down!!! |

A PSD4 I had in Adelaide in '96 or so had me draped over the sofa in the Hyatt gasping like a boated carp.

I love these "strongest 'gar" threads. I think a lot of the mentioned strong cigars are some of my favorites.
Macs make good yard gars. Taboo SFO are pretty strong. |

I remeber smokling an Anejo last christmas, not typically a cigar that I think of as being too strong, but this one had my mouth watering and not in a good way. I think sometimes when we get our butt handed to us by a cigar it can be the circumstances,. Have we eaten, is Opus really a breakfast cigar etc...

JdN Antano, first cigar to give me a headache. Not sure it has happened since either.

The one that has hit me the hardest was a 2004 Forbidden X . I was driving from Jacksonville,FL to Miami with a load of Motorcycles . I had to pull over in a rest area In FT Pierce to walk around and clear my head.

I've only ever gotten a nicotine buzz a few times from cigars, but it's cause I chew a can of snuff a day, I suppose. 35 year old habit, so I'm probably a bit insensitive to the nicotine. It's why I like strong, sweet, dark cigars, too. They're like home.
![]() Last June I was taking my taxes to my tax guy. I was so proud that my taxes were only a couple months late that I decided to celebrate the drive with a big Anejo. I was chewing on it hard and it was salty and made really dark spit. Add to that I was smoking it 100 miles an hour like I always do. About three blocks from the tax office I went "Dood." I was totally crosseyed. It was awesome. I had to sit in the car for 15 minutes and chill before I could take my taxes in. When I came back out I fired the Anejo back up, but never regained the power-buzz. That was a good smoke that day. ![]() |

Back then, as I recall, it was a toss up between a Sancho Panza Extra Fuete or one of the El Rico Habanos.

I always fancied myself a real man and 1 claimed no cigar had kicked my ass! Then I smoked a LG SB 1. It was a gift to me from my good friend Bob at a herf. I smoked that bad boy for over 2 hours often trying to pawn it off on friends saying how good it was. which it was, but I was buzzing for sure

The El Cobre is definitely up there. The LFD "icepick" is another very strong cigar. This was the pre-production of the "Cheroot" I believe. Honestly, the JdN's haven't really done much to me. The Oliva Serie V Maduro is definitely a strong stick that when smoked on an empty stomach, will do a number on you.

I have felt dizzy and nauseated several times when smoking too many cigars in a too short period of time during herfs. Usually I only feel a slight discomfort during the herf and the real agony comes when I get home. I have never hurled yet though (only been very close twice!).
The only single cigar that have made me feel nicotine poisoned was a young Ashton VSG robusto that I was forced to finish quickly due to some complaints from dinner guests in a bar. I bounced like a snooker ball between the walls of the corridor in my hotel on my way to my room! |

I try to avoid smoking on an empty stomach. My problem is that when I get down to the last third of a cigar I start smoking it quickly, and then I get into trouble. Never really sick, just that strange "heady" feeling- a "buzz" I guess you could call it. Some that have given me this feeling include the Opus X, AVO LE 08, Davidoff Millenium, DPG Cuban Classic, Graycliff Doble Expresso, Icon, Illusiine CG4, JdeN Antaņo, Padron 1964.
This is also not to mean that I did not enjoy the cigars, in many cases I did. Another thing I've also noticed is that some that I listed as "strong" when I first started I no longer do so- such as the CAO Italia and Brazil; two favorites nowadays. Although I have not smoked many Cubans, I have yet to experience any negative effects from same.
