1/2 C. Tomato paste, unseasoned
1 t. Lemon juice
1/4 C. Brown sugar, lightly packed
1 t. Tomato powder
1/2 t. Garlic powder

1/2 t. Smoked paprika
1/4 t. Allspice
1/4 t. Black pepper, freshly ground
1/4 t. Cayenne pepper
1/4 t. Ground cinnamon
1/4 t. Ground ginger
1/8 t. Celery seed
1/8 t. Kosher salt

Sounds interesting! Definitely one to try. Sounds like a sweet BBQ sauce?

I generally prefer a spicy, smoky, less sweet sauce, but like to have a good sweet one on hand for when the mood hits also.

As well as a spicy Carolina Red sauce for ribs!

Hey Jim,

Pomegranate syrup is very tart, sugar was needed to take the pucker out of the sauce.

It's moderately tart-spicy with good acid balance and minimally sweet.

If you mix some up and change it to your liking, please post your modifications I'd like to try it.

Excellent -- I'll be trying it! I was gonna anyway -- I like the use of spices in it -- sounds great. Even better now I know it's not too sweet....
