Yeah, my wife hasn't set foot out back since.

Interestingly, in all my encounters with rattlers in the wild I have never had one advance on me. They always hold their ground or retreat - never advance. During this mating ritual, however, when I got too close the two snakes immediately disengaged, one retreated, and the other started moving towards me. I'm assuming that one is the male.

A Mohave Green WILL advance on you, they are quite pissy and agressive.
And yes, you got a very rare glimps at Rattle snake Looooove ...
I hate rattle snakes,
I once sat for quite a long time and watched a King snake kill and eat a Diamondback ... That was cool.

I will go further than hate rattle snakes I hate snakes period! Run like a little girl!

I did get to see this though once out in western Kansas. There were out in the middle of the country in the ditch of the dirt road. Didn't stick around though to take pictures. Very good shots and you got a LOT closer to them than I ever would have!

Steve Irwin would roll over in his grave if he saw what I would do to them things. Not much of a snake man! I'm not really scared of them, just don't like them.

Cool pics though!

My response had I been there?

1) Camera, get a couple shots. Maybe turn on the video camera for a bit.

2) Return camera to the house.

3) Get shotgun.

4) Load shotgun.

5) Go back outside.

6) Make sure there doesn't become a bunch of little snakes in the yard. (I gots two inquisitive sons and a nosey dog)

7) Gut snakes and remove hides and rattles.

8) Grill the meat & tan hides & preserve rattles.

9) Sell hides and rattles.

10) Buy cigars with profits made from hides and rattles.

11) Thank God for providing me with some disposable income that I might enjoy the fruits of the harvest.

I've never run across a Mohave, at least not that I know of. It's mostly Western Diamondbacks around my area. What about up in the mountains, Stitch? What do you typically find up there?
