If you are trying to do what you mentioned, you could buy a $5-10 AT&T prepaid gophone at walmart. Then take the phone out of the package and take that phone to the at&t dealer and tell them you want to add a non-data line to your existing account. They will give you a sim to pop in the phone and it's good to go.

That's a great option as well.

I'm off to the post office to send the 4S. You should have it by Thursday. If it doesn't work out, I recommend the go phone route.
